Ok, we haven’t seen ALL guesthouses in Maramures but we have tried a few and really, not one compares to this one, although several are quite nice. The setting in the middle of nature, the way the houses look, the big garden, the cleanliness and the food make it unique. We stayed here 3 times so far and we can see that they’re investing in the place - it seems to improve from one year to the other. We love that it’s pretty far from the main road, love the large yard with so much space to walk and enjoy the silence, green grass everywhere, flowers in the front and a small orchard in the back, it’s simply heaven to be there, especially in summer and early autumn. Some watch-outs: traditional food in this part of the country is based on meat; if you’re vegetarian, you need to be clear about it from the start. There’s no a-la-carte so best to agree together with mrs Doina which meals you’ll be having there, what times etc. It won’t be a typical tourist experience that you’d get in a big city or in western Europe - try to get with the local charm and enjoy it ;)

It is quite rare for a place to be ranked as almost 10 out of 10 but this place totally deserves it! It is so beautiful! The owner, Mrs. Doina made this guesthouse such a special place and her passion and dedication is greatly admired! A truly passionate about travel and hospitality. The guesthouse is very beautiful and traditional, very clean and well maintained, a "home away from home". The food, wow, I can only say that we couldn't wait for the next meal!!! Mrs. Doina is an excellent cook, an expert in traditional cuisine! Don't choose our own meal let her surprise you! From breakfast to dinner everything is so fresh, tasty, authentic! The products are either from her own garden or from nearby farms A very special place! Highly recommended it! We hope to be back someday! Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!

Pictures never do a beautiful place justice. You have to be there to appreciate the beauty. We stayed in August 2017 and the scenery is breathtaking. The food was great. It is very quiet and the people are friendly. Loved this place.

I love staying here. I have been coming regular since 2007 so I know it very well. Doina is a kind considerate host who will help in any way she can. She speaks vey little English but her partner Radu and her son Pavel are usually around and both speak good English. The rooms are comfortable with good beds. They are usually very warm although the wood burning heating plant can be unreliable. It was fine in my latest stay ( October16) There is excellent wifi. Food is authentic and local with many products from the garden. Some my find it unsophisticated but its always tasty. The best point of all for me is the PEACE. Vadu Izei is full of dogs which bark through the night. Doina has one dog at the back which barks very little. There is a constant noise of babbling water which gives me a great sleep with the window open. It remains my first choice place to stay in the area.

The guesthouse is family administrated and the owners are very nice. The style of the rooms is very genuine Romanian and it is obviously made with great attention to details. The yard and the property is very beautiful. The food I didn't like at all because every dish had the taste of Maggi or Knorr vegetable powder which I deeply dislike. At the time of our trip they were not making home made bread like other guest houses in the area and the bread was from super market and not very nice. Maybe they changed since then, you can ask when booking. Everything was nice except the food which was also too expensive for the taste and ingredients it had.
