The Hyatt Regency Boston / Cambridge offers a blend of modern comfort and a touch of nostalgia, with guests frequently commending its cleanliness and safety. While many appreciate the views and proximity to universities, some find the location less convenient without a car. Opinions on the rooms and service vary, with cleanliness and comfort being praised, but noise and decor receiving criticism.
Travelers enjoy amenities like the shuttle service, though some desire more options. However, the cost is a concern for many, as parking and additional fees can accumulate.

Hotel's Favourite
Had the pleasure to stay here two nights on the way to and back from an anniversary trip to Ireland. The place is super clean, well maintained, and has an amazing location. You are minutes from the airport, downtown Boston, and all the major college campuses. The river views are incredible, and the little interior balconies are fun. This hotel has retro/throwback vibes to the fun 1980s hotels of my childhood, and I mean that in the best possible way. The place just made me smile. The staff are super responsive and go above and beyond; special shout out to Christina (Guest Services Manager) for accommodating our room requests and even hooking us up with a free breakfast for our anniversary. Give this place a shot. You won't regret it (especially if you are a child of the 80s with fun memories around going to 'fancy" hotels as a kid). We will be back.

Our stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston/Cambridge was leg 2 of our trip to New England, and my hubby and our twin college-bound children were greeted with two connecting rooms with a king bed and a couch facing the TV in one room and twin beds in the other. The king bed room had motion sensitive lights at the bottom of the bed so that we didn't stumble in the dark and we didn't have to turn on a light to find our way around the room. The beds were comfortable and we had ample pillows (hubby and I each use two). Our twins were content to have their own space. The shower had great water pressure (a must have for the hubby), and the lighting and ventilation kept the bathroom comfortable despite the humid Boston weather. The thermostat was responsive to our desired temp and was quiet, so we slept well without the usual noises that tend to wake us in a new place. Both mornings we ate at the Paper Tavern, which had a great selection of choices for all of us. The hotel had a game area on the main floor, a lovely garden, and plenty of areas to sit and relax indoors as well. There is an escalator to take you up/down between the first and second floors. One of the phones in our room had a dead battery, and maintenance promptly arrived to replace it. The hotel recently replaced all the single-use toiletries with generous dispenser style shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and lotion. The curtains opened and closed easily, and there were both sheers and blackout curtains (the hubby prefers a completely dark room for sleeping). There was a baseball game at Fenway Park, and we were treated to a fireworks display and a beautiful view of the Charles River.
We were very close to several university campuses (MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern), and we took the opportunity to tour the area and get a sense of life on these campuses. The hotel concierge recommended that we sample the local seafood at the Barking Crab (which was delicious), visit the wharf, and sample the delicious pastry at Bova's Bakery, as well as dine at an amazing Italian restaurant, Trattoria Il Panino. We also took in a tour of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which made for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We used the valet service to park the car, and it was brought out immediately upon checking out of the hotel, and they always greeted us with a smile.
We will definitely add this hotel to our list of places to stay in Boston when we're next in town

We recently held a 3-day offsite with ~15 people. The meeting room was set up when we got there. The room was a bit cold at times, because of all of the windows but we had the name of the manager on duty who adjusted accordingly.
We initially had some challenges connecting our laptops to the AV, but there was a tech on staff who helped us out and gave us his biz card in case of any issues.
We had a separate room for meals. Staff was very accommodating. Great spread, food was appropriately warm or cold. For me, I didn't eat much as it was a bit rich for my taste. Wait staff was friendly and on top of everything, cleaning the tables in a timely manner and making themselves available for any questions.
They had a coffee/sandwich bar onsite which wasn't a Starbucks. I mention this because their latte's were WAY BETTER! Good food selection for eating in or grab and go..
Location was great - I was able to get in a 3 mile walk around the lake every day (freezing, but totally worth it). Within walking distance of MA and Commonwealth - lots of restaurants. I felt safe day or evening.
I recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a venue for a business offsite in a Boston.

Having booked a room with a walk in shower and a view of the Charles River I was first given a room with a bath which was changed when I challenged reception on checkin. But the room then given did not have a view of the Charles River, jut the carpark and was at the end of a very long corridor and not near the elevator. Very challenging if you walk with a frame. The hotel website says they have a shuttle bus into the Harvard area, but they don't have it any more.

Last minute getaway and first time here. Easy to find and close to everything. We did self park ($45 per day) in the attached garage with in/out privileges. Be advised that high trucks might not fit. Our Bronco just barely cleared the garage height. Valet was more. I believe they have 16 floors, we were on the 5th with a great river view. Some rooms have interior balconies overlooking the center of the hotel and some had outdoor balconies. Room was good size and I liked the layout. We seldom heard outside noise and the heat/ac unit had a constant fan mode that provided excellent "white noise". Beds were firm and comfortable. Has a small fridge and k-cup Keurig coffee maker in the room. Room was clean, TV is huge...just needs a few more channels. Nice toiletries in the large bathroom. Staff were very pleasant and we would stay here again.

Highly recommend this hotel! Front desk staff, housekeeping staff and restaurant staff were extremely friendly and courteous. The hotel offers self-parking, but the parking garage was being repaired. We had to use the valet option and you are able to take your car out as much as you want. I recommend calling the valet desk before leaving your room, so your car will be ready when you arrive at the front entrance. There is a coffee shop/convenience store on the property that offers coffees, snacks, water, soda, juice and alcoholic beverages. There is also an in-house restaurant, Paperback Tavern. They offer breakfast until 11am and then close until 5pm for dinner. We had the American breakfast and the double stacked breakfast sandwich and both were very good. We stayed in the university suite which was incredible! Plenty of room, a fridge, a balcony that looks out into the center of the hotel. The suite also has a separate bedroom and bathroom. There is a safe in the closet of the bedroom. There was an amazing view of the Charles River and the Boston skyline. Depending where in Boston you are going it takes about 15 mins in an Uber ride. If you are visiting Boston or any of the nearby colleges, I recommend you stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston/Cambridge.

Overall the common spaces in the hotel are nice and the location is convenient. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping our room clean but accidentally took an item of clothing with the sheets. Staff has been poorly responsive about this as we are still waiting for issue to be resolved. Staffing felt sparse but to be expected in the post pandemic era. It was fine, but definitely not amazing in any way.

The explorist tier status brought us a Charles River View room. That was very nice! The front desk staff was great (Jamie was quite helpful in particular). The room was clean. Housekeeping staff was also very responsible (I left the room for a quick online meeting and they already cleaned up everything when I was back!).

There was a room for an early check-in, but the front staff required $50 for an early check-in. Never experienced this kind of bad service at other hotels. They tried to squeeze every single dollar from the customer. In addition, when I left my luggage, I had to bring those myself to the storage room. No staff was available for luggage help. No concept of hospitality. A shame on Hyatt !

I’ve been staying at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge Mass pretty much my entire life. My brother got married there years ago and my husband and I stayed there almost every weekend before our son was born 9 years ago. We decided to book 3 nights the week of the 4th for our first family vacation and it was very disappointing. We hadn’t been to the hotel since prior to Covid and they really cut corners when “renovating” this hotel. Our almost $400 a night room was very dingy and old. Our “river view” balcony was very deceiving. We walked out to our balcony and to the right was a view of 2 large dumpsters. You had to stick your head off to the left of the balcony to see the river view. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Our son went to take a bath and the lever came right off when we turned the tub on. There was no plug in the tub. Once maintenance came and fixed the lever, we had no water pressures at all. Our lamp would not turn off unless we unscrewed the bulb. The lock on our door was completely busted and just hanging by a thread. The real kicker were the clumps of pubic hair stuck to the outside of the bathroom door. Needless to say, we cut our losses and left a day early and lost out on $400 night. Sadly, we will never be back here again. I hope they do something about this before others stay in that room. I sure hope the other rooms are not as bad as ours was.
