We booked our one-night stay for a walkable experience between Davis/Porter/Harvard Squares, and we were very happy with our choice. Porter Square Hotel is welcoming and clean, and our valet parking was much less than other hotels in the area. Our queen bed on the 4th floor (409) was super comfy, and the room had amazing room-darkening curtains that allowed us to sleep in. The bathtub was HUGE! And the room overlooked Mass. Ave, which was fun. I was surprised how quiet the hotel seemed, which was nice. I suspect that some of the 4-star reviews here are because there aren't many frills: no fridge in the room, no microwave, and the fitness center is in a sister hotel two blocks away! But there were nice touches like bottles of water, and robes and slippers in the bathroom, that felt welcoming. I also appreciated the digital thermostat (which, as other reviewers have pointed out, is bright) so that we could adjust the room temperature. Staff was lovely, though we didn't eat/drink in the Colette restaurant on street level.

Fantastic boutique hotel with a fabulous staff. Every single person we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Have stayed there twice. Both times in Queen Suite. Only minor complaint with both rooms was the brightness of the bedroom thermostat display. The desk provided us with some post-it-notes to cover it up. Our first room had a larger bathroom and sitting area (5th floor). The 2nd room had 2 smaller bathrooms and a smaller (but very sufficient) sitting area. Great location - close to stores, restaurants and the T. Highly recommend. We are coming back to Boston in the spring and definitely staying there!

After getting over Boston hotel price sticker shock, I looked for a safe, close to public transportation hotel that wasn't too crazy expensive. Glad I found Porter Square. Yes, cozy room, but not nearly as small as I was expecting from some of the reviews. I was alone, so that helped. Super close to the T, Target, CVS, Panera Bread and lots of other restaurants for those with more adventurous food tastes than I. I would gladly stay again. I didn't get to see all the sights in my 2 days, so I hoping I'll be back!

Stayed here for 3 nights on a trip to visit family in the Cambridge area. Found Porter Square to be a perfect choice for our needs. The location is excellent. The valet parking is on premises and the fee is reasonable considering how difficult it is to park in the metro area. We were told the fee covered in and out as often as we would need to use the car although once parked we didn't use the car again until the day we checked out. The room we stayed in, room 507, was clean, comfortable, and appeared to be newly renovated. Nice view of the Boston skyline from this room. This was considered a Queen suite and it had a separate sitting area with a nice little sofa, desk, and comfortable desk chair. Mini fridge and coffee maker. Have seen many comments about how small the rooms are at this hotel and I have to agree the room does feel a little tight but the added space for the suite does help. The queen bed was very comfortable although the pillows were another story. They were way too hard for my taste and although I asked for something softer there was nothing else offered by the hotel. This was the only downside of our stay here. The bathroom was an enormous plus! Large, nicely done with plenty of shelf space and the tub area was immaculate. Like it had never been used. My only complaint about the bathroom was the hairdryer, it wasn't great. The robes and slippers supplied were an excellent touch. Unlike the heavy terrycloth robes one usually finds, and these are way too big for most women, these were thinner and silkier and so much more user friendly! Housekeeping is optional at this hotel but we were glad we asked for it. Coffee was replaced everyday, as was the bottled water to use in the coffee maker. Nice touch! Highly recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Queen suite is a nice sized room. Room 507 has a great view and was very quiet at night.

This hotel was well priced compared with other options in Boston and really quite easy to access. We would just hop on the red line train in the morning, explore Boston and our activities for the day, then catch the same train back. The cost of the ticket each way daily was much less that the double prices of other hotels located centrally! It had a quite a charm about it and was clean and tidy. It was a little small compared to other places we’ve stayed (it didn’t bother us though, but you do need to squeeze a bit if you have 2 suitcases and accept you’ll probably trip over the end of the bed a few times)! Also, not sure if it’s the room we booked by accident or if it’s standard, but the room came with 2 singles rather than a Queen for my husband and I. Note though that they now don’t automatically do a room clean option, you need to have requested it by 11am for the following day. We had no issues getting extra amenities though when we needed them like more coffee pods (as there’s a coffee machine in the room). There’s no fridge in the room though which was a bit of a shame, we like to keep our water cold for the next day and stock up on some staples (like yoghurt and the milk we like) but need a fridge to do that. The hotel doesn’t offer any breakfast options but there is a restaurant downstairs (I didn’t see it open for breakfast but we were out and about most mornings quite early). It’s very convenient though to pop across the road for your standard takeaway places (Dunkin Donuts, Panera, etc) and there’s a Target and CVS for grocery needs. Overall we had a very positive stay here

This was a decent hotel, nothing spectacular, but did the job well. Room was clean and comfortable, perhaps a touch small, but had everything you would want or need. Bathroom was pretty good, and the climate control was comfortable, although a bit noisy at times. Staff were very friendly and it is well situated for the T.

A cute little place to stay. Located within walking distance to cafes and shops and the red line. The front desk was very friendly and accomodating. They had great suggestions for where to go and what to do. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't hang out in our rooms much, just for a quick change but after a nice evening we did have after dinner drinks at the very chic restaurant in the hotel - Colette Bistro. Highly recommend this nice and convenient place to stay!

Quiet, clean, spacious corner room on 5th floor with view of Boston skyline. Reasonable priced for Boston/Cambridge area. Great location across street from the T where you can pick up the Red Line. Plenty of room for a rollaway bed for my son in a separate room from the bedroom. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping center. Enjoyed a nice 15 min walk one morning to 3 Little Figs for breakfast which was delicious and a fun little neighborhood place. Also about a 25 min walk to Harvard Square. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we come back this way but sadly their rooms aren’t big enough if we bring the whole family of 5🙁
