Greeted nicely despite late arrival, and loved the charming decor and the neat deal where they give you Boston-area-themed postcards to fill out and then they'll apply the postage and send anywhere in the world. Only drawback: Old construction means rooms aren't quiet enough. I heard people talking in hallway like they were in my room, quite early in the...

Thank you for your kind comments on your stay! I wish I could say we are working on a solution for the noise problem. Alas, our research has, so far, not brought solutions. As I have stayed in hotels that were purpose built, and found noise transmission to be a significant problem--from neighboring rooms, hallway traffic, etc, I see that...

I loved the character and atmosphere of this B&B. Convenient location only several blocks to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital with restaurants and grocery stores close by. I was on the 4th floor with a private bath. The bed was very comfortable and although there were quite a few steps it certainly was a good way to get in my exercise. Free...

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay! Yes, we are located near Spaulding Rehab Hospital, which does some very good work helping people adjust to new lives after accidents and serious medical events. And the neighborhood is lively, but quiet. Your comments about the breakfast are much appreciated as we have been working on expanding the breakfast menu and...

This was the ideal location for me to stay to walk across to my Lessons. Clean, comfortable, with a good breakfast each morning to start the day! Parking is there, which is great! it is usually a challenge to 'pauk ya khar in Havahd yhad!'

trying to send photo of Irving House room to Mary, in Vermont. The rooms are very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast is served downstairs (in basement). Good variety of breads, cereals, hard boiled eggs. Very near Sanders Hall, Harvard Square. it is about 4 blockf form the Hall, and I felt very secure walking back and forth in the evening, by...

A small and comfortable place to stay. Some rooms with shared baths. Small simple rooms. But clean. Staff we're very helpful and courteous. Do it yourself breakfast was nice. A bit more and better than your basic hotel continental breakfast

Thank you for your kind review. Due to more harsh criticism (see other reviews here), we are planning more improvements in several areas and hope to be an even better value for you. We hope to see you again when your travels bring you back to Cambridge!

We really wanted to like this “boutique” hotel. We were coming to Harvard University for a conference and chose to stay at the Irving House for three nights because of its proximity to Gund Hall and the reviews on Tripadvisor. Yes, it is close to Harvard Yard and it was convenient, but our overall experience was less than wonderful. Irving...

Dear 'Rocky’s Friend,' Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. With the long and specific list of issues you raise, we have a great deal to work on! First, we do not consider ourselves a ‘Boutique Hotel’ never did and probably never will. Irving House is, indeed, a house converted from a two family residence to a...

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Irving House in mid-October, 2014. It was a dual purpose visit. We attended a Fleetwood Mac concert at the Garden in Boston on a Friday night, so we needed someplace to spend the night that allowed easy access to public transportation. Also, since I grew up near Harvard Square in Cambridge,...

Thank you for writing a very thorough and thoughtful review! The details you provided will be very helpful for guests. Some of them are, as you note, conditions we cannot change, and some we can. The parking and, unfortunately with current technology, the heating and cooling controls, we cannot change. The carpet tiles, while not the most elegant solution to...

Dank, musty, and not very clean. Expensive and any or all concerns raised are ignored. Go to a best western. At least you know what you are getting. Food was poor and we left to go find a coffee shop as soon as we could. Staff clearly are not allowed much decision making as each concern was met with "we...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am sorry that you found our guesthouse not to your liking. Irving House is the best choice for sightseeing to Harvard or visiting your child studying at Harvard. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay! We are very pleased you consider us a great choice for visits to Harvard University. The house has long established ties with Harvard, from its days as a dormitory for Harvard students back in the 1920s and 30s, to its current incarnation as a guesthouse serving a wider variety of...

I was very impressed with how clean our full bath room was and how comfortable the beds were. We had a queen size bed and a bunk bed which was comfortable as well. Great tea time and breakfast food every day.
