Walking in they are remolding... so stuff is all down the halls, no restaurant or bar the front desk lady said that the bar was closed due to covid and the restaurant was being remodel. We get to the room and it's clean for the most part. The covers did have burn holes in them tho. The 1st night we called up to the front desk for what we thought was remoldong going on above us. The noise went on until 3am after 2 calls to the front the desk. Nothing was done. The next night was the same. We didn't call up front because nothing was done the night before. The next day we called to talk to the manager and the front desk lady hung up on me. Our room was on the back side of the hotel and there were guys out there doing drugs. I spent $400 for two night at the WROST hotel! Don't waste your time or money!!! Also the Manger finally was got ahold of and he refuses to do anything.

Awlful place it was like a building site. Our room was right next door to where they was working plastic sheets along the hallways. Just very outdated, smelly and dirty. No restaurant as advertised. It should of been explained it was being renovated at the time we booked. That way we would of gone else where. Never again for us am afraid

Expecting a nostalgic walk down Route 66 we thought this hotel would deliver the goods. Memorabilia and a soak in a bygone era...alas the hotel was an absolute shock to the system. Filthy dirty and at least 80% under "renovation" the whole place smelled like ass with a top note of stale cigarette smoke and a definite whiff of marijuana. There are no words to describe the dirt. Sticky carpet that may or may not once upon a time been a colour other than mottled upchuck, we dragged our bags up stairs to the second floor and then navigated our way through the building work to our room. Rather ominously our neighbours windows had been covered in old carpet and we approached our room door with ever increasing trepidation and queasy unease. Our room was soaked in something alright...and the olfactory assault defies description. Not one opening window had ensured that 6 decades of the unwashed had been preserved in that room for posterity and despite being threatened with a $250 fine for smoking in the room (to cover cleaning..my soul, the irony) the room had been smoked in with frequency. But that paled into insignificance against the blood stained bed linen and the honest to God blood spatter on the bedroom mirror. The mould, the greasy black footprints in the shower floor, the grease hand prints on the door and we checked out in under 5 minutes. I am sure the renovations can only improve the place but they are at least a year away from completion. In truth, this place should not be accepting reservations - it is a health and safety hazard. We drove a full half hour as far away from Springfield as we could get before the cloying aroma of Route66 Hotel became too much to endure and we threw on the brakes in Taylorville, checked in to a fantastic little motor court motel, mostly to shower!!!!

I stayed here in Oct 2021. NEVER AGAIN. Apparently, people are living here. Lots of drama, screaming and foul language. Room was dirty, furniture worn and thread bare. Afraid to sit on the furniture. Air conditioner didn't work very well. Took 4 hours to get the room comfortable. I checked for bedbugs, didn't find any, but discovered how disgusting the mattress was. Decor in the hallways was cool, but not enough to make up for all the negatives. I did not get comfortable in this place. I did not use the shower, even though it looked like they tried to remodel the bathroom. Poorly done. Police were called, not sure what was going on, but I can only imagine with the low life trash living there. Thought this would be a cool place to stay on Route 66, but was I wrong!!!!! I'd give them a minus 10 rating if I could.

My husband and I stayed here on our RT 66 road trip. I wish I had read the reviews on this place before staying there. The first thing we noticed was that the room next to ours had a skeleton poster on the door with caution tape. (Some kind of Halloween decoration?) We walked into our room and it didn’t take long to realize that the people next door actually were staying there for a lengthier time...we actually know their whole life story because it went on into the midnight hour with a lady yelling loudly at a man about everything and anything, with profanity laced throughout. She was venting super loudly, then she would say, “I’m leaving”, the door would slam, and all would be quiet for a while. Then we would hear a loud knocking on their door, and she would be back, continuing with her rant. It quieted down a little after midnight, but then at 6:30 AM we heard her start up again with yelling at someone (turned out to be her child) “WAKE UP! IT’S 6:30!” (Yea, we didn’t need our alarm to wake up!) Maybe if we had gotten a different room, we wouldn’t have had this issue, but I probably would not stay here again.

Disgusting and nasty. The beds had urine stains so we complained, the staff upgraded us to the jacuzzi room and the bed had blood stains. The entire place had an odor and is over run by Crack attics living there. Worst hotel I've ever seen they need to be shut down!

This was room 152, king suites with spa. Bed and pillows smelled like sweaty armpits. Felt like a room you might rent by the hour. Black sheets had hair embedded in them. Unfinished sheetrock in ceiling. Incomplete paint job. No one at front desk. Cheap towels. No kleenex. Not all spa jets worked.

Place has local long term tenants with drug issues. Rooms are not clean, Bar &Grill is closed, as is Diner and pool is not opened. Not that any of that really matters. We had problems with a lady strung out on drugs roaming the place from the time we checked in. Wouldn't ya know our room was right beside them. Police were called around 9:30pm but not for them rather for a group of young ladies dressed like prostitutes' causing a ruckus. Was awaken just before 4 am by our neighbors arguing then a big door slam. Turns out the lady who left the room was roaming the hotel knocking on guest doors. I got up, went to front desk, talked to the young man at front desk who was outside. Vented with him, he was nice, but caught in the middle,. We stayed here back in 2013, place was nice, its a total joke now. You DO NOT want to stay here, Listen folks IT WOULD HAVE TO IMPROVE TO BE TERRIBLE.

This place is not only filthy, but is laughable as well. We checked in and were given another guest’s room. The room was nasty, so they offered us another room, which was cleaner but smelled worse. We were then offered a third “jacuzzi” room that was humid and damp and stunk as well. They finally offered us one of their “marketing” rooms, you know, the ones they take pictures of for promotional purposes... I had read this was the first Holiday Inn on Route 66. I was sure that was true after I saw the pillows that looked to be that old as well. Unbelievably stained yellow. As were the sheets and towels. Rooms were not clean, had stuff left in them from previous guests, etc. The most laughable part was when the vacuum cleaner kicked on outside our room at 1:30am. I called the front desk and he asked what the problem was, I said “the vacuum cleaner outside our room.” He said he’d never heard of any silent vacuum cleaners! I said “I’ve never heard of hotels where the staff vacuums at 1 o’clock in the morning” and hung up. He proceeded to call back four times and all I got when I picked up was a dial tone. We were traveling across the country on Route 66, staying in all kinds of old, quaint, nostalgic, kitschy motels. I’m sad to say that this is not quaint, nostalgic or kitschy...just old...and stinky, and filthy, and uncared for. The housekeeping staff knows nothing about hospitality or cleanliness. The HR folks know nothing about recruiting and hiring quality individuals as employees. During our trip I commented how sad it was to see all the boarded up motels simply becoming dust before our very eyes. I must say, I would not be sad to see this establishment added to that list. Route 66 would be better off without it.

Staff charged 10.00dollard for a replacement key to my room and if u didn't have the money it was just a tough luck for me. Never ever serviced my room. Was told I need to wash my own sheets towels ect. Bluetooth speaker missing from my room. Threatened by the staff of physical bodily harm after repdily asking for owners information to report . Ganged up in by 3+ hotel employees and treated horribly as I watched my friend almost die due to a medical emergency as staff scoffed laughed and made fun of as he lay there almost dying. Tried to keep my belongings after they took my key away and I had to tend to this medical emergency by locking me out of the building. Just horrible. Staff appearance unkept just dirty towels sheets with burn holes filthy bathtub just horrible all the way around in shock still can't believe it. Roll the camera back if you don't believe me. It's all there on tape. Moldy bathrooms . Owner needs to clean house. Front desk always empty. Always empty.
