It's called Mansion View because you can get a view of the Executive Mansion from across the street. This is not an inn, it is a motel and a very seedy one. Economy here means poorly maintained. Tub was disgusting, beds were very hard and television set was very old. And this was the second room as the first had... More

Disgusting. Travel often, different city every week. Everything in the area was booked for various conventions. Found this dump, reserved on line. Arrived at 130 am. Rang buzzer for 15 min, called for 20. Finally woke up front desk. Charged $118 for 4 hrs. An absolute joke and waste of money. If I didn't need to shower because of work,... More

It's hard to give a decent review of this motel (not hotel) because, within its price range, it's probably higher than a three. Pros: location. You can walk to most of Springfield's main attractions. The Lincoln Museum is a bit of a hike, but the State of Ill Museum, the GAR Museum, the Capitals both new and old, are just... More

We wanted to have lodging in the downtown area so that we could walk to all the attractions Springfield has to offer but did not want to spend much money. The lady at the front desk matched the internet price I had found. Overall the room was good though the bed showed its age. The hotel is located near a... More

Going to this motel was the worst experience I've ever had in my life. Other than being uncleanly and inconvenient, the residents that live in this place are horrible. I was kept up until 5:00 in the morning listening to drunken, loud mouth, low-lives screaming and yelling right outside my door. I continuously called the staff, and eventually a person... More

I found this hotel listed under my search in B&Bs. it is a nice place. it is near downtown Springfield. that puts it near the Ill. state Capital, and a few other attractions near by some good eateries, and they do include a good break fast in one's stay. In Springfield, Ill. allow for a 6% tax and another 6%... More

Pros Perfect location - walkable to all historic sights Parking/Bed/breakfast for £42 we felt was good value Room - clean albeit a little dated Cons Train line runs right behind hotel, which didn't bother us personally but I could see it annoying others. The trains just hoot and horn when going past. We were woken at 0200 and 0530 by... More

Would NEVER recommend this spot to anyone of my collegues. I've been on a road trip for the past month and this is the crappy-est place I have every been in. NO comparison to any other hotel I've been it. Just filthy and run down. NO lamp in my room ... just all around awful.

I would not recommend this property to anyone. The heat in our room did not work. We turned the wall unit on and all we got was semi cold air. We ran it for awhile hoping it would warm up. Not sure which was warmer, our room or the 8 degree temperature outside. The gentleman who checked us in had... More

I am pleasantly surprised with my stay (three days/two nights) at Mansion View Inn. I was coming from a 'least costly' perspective when I booked … AND this place is a precious find ~ like stepping back in time a bit to a two-story courtyard motel. Lovely attention to furnishings, comfort, beauty and service. Across the street from the Governor's... More
