We stayed here August 4th, because of positive Tripadvisor reviews. There must have a sub at the front counter when we checked in because the woman was not at all friendly or helpful. Arrived at 4:30, with a reservation, and requested a top floor room. Was told that they were completely full, and we must take the preassigned room. Near the clerk were all the room keys and invoices for the night, all preprinted and laid out. Top floor was available...if she cared to take the time to switch us and reassign someone who had yet to check in. Had the disappointment stopped there, I wouldn't be writing this review. Upon entering the room, we noticed a large hole along with multiple stains in the carpet. There were crumbs on the one bed. The bench was stained and filthy. The shower spray wasn't much better than using a faucet. The bathroom had been updated at some point, and was very poorly patched, if patched at all. The paint in the bathroom was heavily cracked. The morning clerk was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate. There was no street noise, and no hallway noise, it is a nice quiet hotel.…
Friendliest and accommodating staff to encounter while on vacation. Room was average (my travel companion said it was better than expected) but was stuffy. Believe it or not the stairway was probably the best kept I’ve ever seen. The breakfast was average with a different hot entree ea day and the go tos cereal toast/bagels etc. with dining area kept clean always. The elevator was only a single but you never had to wait long for it to arrive. The rooms are not cleaned unless staying more than 5 days but my first post COVID trip so this may be the norm.
It is not fancy but there is nothing wrong with it. It is clean and has comfortable beds. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is not outstanding but is adequate to get you on your way. There is 24-hour coffee service in the lobby. I arrived here on Amtrak. It is about a half mile north of the station and downtown. There are no restaurants in the immediate area, the closest ones are downtown. There is a supermarket and a CVS two blocks west.
It is a quiet, centrally located hotel but there is little going on around it. The hospital is next door if you need to stay and visit a loved one in care. There is a laundry facility and free breakfast that includes waffles, a hot option, and yogurt, fruit, bagels etc The free shuttle to and from the airport is very convenient.
Location is great for visiting Abraham Lincoln’s library. It’s just 5 min walk. The rooms are a bit dates, but they are clean and have all the amenities you need. The beds were fairly large and comfortable. The water pressure innhente shower was good. The breakfast is OK - a plus for several types of juices and youghurts.
This hotel has an excellent front desk. Without “Lolly” there would not be a lot of personality to this quaint hotel. It is centrally located and the rooms are clean but dated. The breakfast were fair for the price. This is a good place to stay if you have loved ones in the hospital. It has a bus service to and from the clinics and hospital. I recommend this hotel for the budget minded.
We stayed here for a medical procedure my mother was having next day. I had made a mistake in our reservation, and instead of aking advantage and double-charging us, Carpenter Street Hotel (Vickie) removed the charge right away. The suite was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. We had gotten less than pleasant medical news the next day, and Vickie was so caring. This hotel is conveniently located within blocks of hospitals. I highly recommend it! A+++++++++++
the hotel was great . the workers were very nice and helpful. the price i paid was cheaper than most on a day i didnt want to stay at a hotel. the weather was horrible and i had to work in springfield the next day . very quiet in side, and the rooms were very clean and my bed was huge i got a king size. i had to leave for work before breakfast so i dont know how good it would have been.
Great location (close to Lincoln Museum and Library, as well as all things Lincoln). The place could use some updating, but it was clean and the staff was very friendly. They also provide a complimentary breakfast which included some hot items (biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, etc.), yogurt (individual containers), a selection of cereals, bagels, and pastries.
We were not sure when we drove up that we had made a good decision, as the building was small and plain looking for a hotel with 4 out of 5 stars. However, we were very impressed with the service and the nice clean rooms. The lady at the front desk that checked us in was awesome. She made sure we knew where everything was in the hotel, gave us a list of food delivery places, and directed us to a nearby grocery store. She was very friendly and upbeat---and I know it is her job, but she deserves a raise!!! Other hotel staff that we found friendly and helpful were the 3rd floor housekeeper and the lady that kept the breakfast area stocked and cleaned. . We would give 2 thumbs up for our stay. 👍👍
