Being that the Lava Beds Monument is in a very remote part of California, you would think that any place to stop and camp would be successful. Well, apparently at one time Hawk's Nest was. However (and I get this from a permanent resident) the new owners' 'don't give a rip'...and I found that to be true. We had made...

We had made reservations some months ago for the RV park to meet our son and family to visit the Lava Beds. Arrived and our reservations weren't on the books. Could accommodate us for 2 of the 3 nights. Didn't stay. RV spot was in a dust bowl with no shade. Can't imagine even sitting outside in the dirt. Not...

Rustic, quiet, clean and convenient. Hawks Nest offers a variety of options, campsites, RV hook-ups and cabins. You can get a unit without a bathroom and use the communal facilities or as we did opt for the cabin with a bath and fully equipped kitchen. Hawks Nest is 14 miles from the southern entry to Lava Beds National Monument. The...

I loved the rustic little cabin with kitchenette. This is THE perfect place to stay to properly visit Lava Beds National Monument. The cabin was comfortable. Cooked breakfast and dinner here each night on the gas (propane powered) stove. I felt like I was in a small apartment. It was so cute. There is a common bathroom and laundry facility....

Pros: Annie was very helpful as we tried to get our truck repaired. The grounds & facilities were clean & well-kept. Plenty of hot wate in free showers. Campfire for the whole park setup every night. Great gathering place. Spacious sites. Well situated for touring Lava Beds National Monument. Negatives: Some sites needed to be re-graveled. Some sites needed trash...

We stayed here two nights on our way to Bend, OR. It is a very rustic, older park, in a remote area. There were only a few other campers, and we had our pick of campsites. The facilities are older but in good shape, and the park was clean and in good order. For RVers, this is more camp than...

Stayed there 3 nights in a small cabin with my 10 year old son while visiting Lava Beds National Monument. Hopefully they will get AC soon. too hot to cook in the room. I wish they had a quiet time set in place. Unfortunately there were some partyers who must have thought they were the only ones there. Very friendly...

My girlfriend and I spent two enjoyable nights at the Hawk's Nest Cabins and RV park close to the entrance to Lava Beds National Monument. They have a number of cabins which are small and rustic but met all of our needs w/ a fully functional kitchen, comfortable bed and table and chairs. Outside the grounds of the park are...

Hawk’s Nest Cabins is the perfect place to stay to visit Lava Beds National Monument, and my husband and I really enjoyed our two nights there in October. We didn’t want to drive too far to get in and out of the park, and Hawk’s Nest is the closest there is short of actually camping in the park itself. So...
