They are begging you to give them great reviews in person and flyers throughout the hotel. My first interaction was before 9 pm asking for my ID when I checked in using the app and had mobile key. I responded by walking past the lady and headed to the elevator. The elevator I think has seem better days but got me where I needed to go. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast average to above average for a springhill suite with not alot of options. Whirlpool was nice Location was decent with a mcdonalds and walmart not too far away.

Hotel prices are so high in Alaska and many hotels in Anchorage had such awful & somewhat scary reviews. We had several reservations & watched reviews carefully and finally a few days B4 our trip we cancelled all but this one and sure glad we picked it! Our 2 Q room was very spacious for me and my sister. My brother's family had a handicap accessible room & they said it was the best room out of the three they stayed in on our Alaska-Seattle trip. Location is great; not too far from the airport, WalMart just down the street, Outback across the street & movie theater behind the hotel. We took our niece who celebrated her birthday to the movies; a very short walk. We even walked back from our Wild Scoops ice cream excursion, about 10-15 min. Don't miss going to Wild Scoops! Hotel no longer has a shuttle, however, they do provide Uber/Lyft rides to & from the airport. You pay the tip in cash. Just call the hotel's number, push 0, and you will get a live person to set up the ride. Front staff very pleasant especially Perry. Breakfast is more than OK, something there for everyone unless you are "just plain hard to please." Large, pleasant area for lobby and eating. Seems most hotels are not providing daily service these days; guess it's a result of Covid. However, all you have to do is call or go to the front desk to get what you need or get it off a cart when a worker is cleaning rooms. Can't think of any to complain about except maybe that the hot tub wasn't as hot as we like it but the maintenance person said they have to set it a certain temperature by law, whatever. Overall we were very pleased with this hotel. SpringHill Suites

Comfy beds, large room, clean, friendly kitchen sraff, quite good breakfast. Dim lighting in room, not many good restaurants nearby but a Walmart & Starbucks. Noust aircon in room. Downtown rather than Midtown is better for ovetaeas travellers.. Better views, nice walking & biking tracks, better choice of convenient restaurants.. over an hr wait in the few restaurants available about 4 blocks from this hotel.

Clean, good size room, kitchenette included. Breakfast fairly basic but good choice, waffle machine, fruit, cereal and a couple of hot options. Situated midtown but only about 15 minutes from the airport. Bit out of the way of the tourist area.

DO NOT stay at this hotel unless you get an iron clad guarantee that you will not have organised ‘teens on tour’ that are marauding, loud, noisy and partying to the early hours of the morning. The teens are large groups (40-50) staying at the Midtown Springhill Suites Marriott as part of adventure tours. No change since last summer - see Tripadvisor comment from 2022. It was the worse hotel experience of our six week stay in Alaska however the housekeeping of the rooms was exceptionally clean and Dallas the groundsman and housekeepers were very professional, friendly and polite to us. This is a much lower quality clientele and service (except for the great quality rooms beds and housekeeping) compared to the Marriott’s in Australia. Google Westcoastconnection and Reinteentours and look at their Alaska Hawaii tours for a month at $12,000 USD for privileged teens who are touring and staying at hotels such as the Hilton, Hyatt Regency, Marriott also the Bluffs and Grande Denali etc. We stayed a total of five nights broken over a two week period as we were booked in by an American company for independent travel - Vacations by Rail with additional nights I added as we toured from here to Denali and Seward. I complained about the noise the first time, second time was a quieter area of the hotel but then they mustn’t have made a note on my third booking even though I told reception all my dates. The last occasion was so truly horrible with virtually no sleep and feeling completely bullied and unsafe by the Westcoast Connection ‘chaperones’ and their testosterone group of boy teens (also had girls too) who were much taller and larger than I. The boys even bullied and called me names at the airport when they spotted me as they were ending their tour because I had dared to ask them to disperse from the hallway at around 11pm as they were two steps away from my room and talking loudly and I couldn’t sleep. They put us in an interconnecting room (door locked) and we could hear the yelling, loud music, thumping of bags onto the floor on both sides and above and across the hall from these teens. Then later I tried reception on the phone but there was no answer. at around 11.30pm so I went down to reception. Reception said that they had sent ‘security’ (not sure what this actually entailed) to go to the floor previously. I saw the chaperones in the foyer putting on facial moisturiser masks and I asked them why they weren’t supervising. I then again came down to reception close to 1am to again ask if there was anything they could do and again similar response. I again spotted the chaperones in the foyer if they could talk to the boy teens and one flat out lied and she said that they were in their beds asleep and security had been up on that floor. I said that this is not the case. One male chaperone kindly went up with me and stood for about three seconds outside the room and of course heard them and went in. Manager moved us the next morning. She explained that they are paying guests also and they cannot close the hotel just for them or for others like us who are independent travellers. Receptionist also said that like Intrepid etc they book in groups and cannot know what the group is. I disagree - the cost of a night at the time (see photo) is $459 AUD ($310 USD) per night so it is a high star price and you should be able to have sleep. I do not blame the staff as they tried their best but Marriott corporate are pushing for this business area and they would know the group demographic they are booking in. I was made to feel guilty that I complained. When I was chatting to the manager at the front desk we could barely hear each other over the volume of noise in the foyer/breakfast area with the loud teens at 8.30am - she said this was normal. The next morning I made sure I set my alarm and was there for my cereal and coffee at 7am when it opened and I was able to have my breakfast in what I considered a ‘normal’ volume of noise. The Reinteen chaperone stated to me on the second morning (first stay which had the whole 50 teen group return and stomp up the stairs and corridors at 11.05pm) that five chaperones can’t control ten teens each all of the time! The Marriott staff also moved us again on the last occasion as they said they accidentally put us in a room that didn’t have working air con. The rooms at the front overlook a busy three lane road into downtown which the noise is dulled by the double glazing for the cold but the air con which is useful for eliminating the stuffiness is noisy so you need to turn it off during the night. To add to the ‘experience’ on the second last morning after finally sleeping after 1am, a maintenance guy knocked and two seconds later while we were calling out, entered our room. He apologised as I reached the door and looking out into the hallway as he left he entered the room where all the trouble came from. I checked with the manager as to why and the reason was for safety - I said do you really mean it is for checking for damage? Her reply was that they check each room for safety every time. The lift was not working for over a week between the second and third visits - yes they offered to assist but we are extremely independent so we hauled our luggage up to the third floor twice. They were waiting on a part to fix it. Also our TV remote right arrow did not work so used another remote in combination as the second remote from reception had an issue with the volume button. The location is not great unless you are wanting to shop at the nearby Walmart (they sell guns!!! with grocery and household items) or Natural Pantry or go to the cinema next door. The midtown mall is a couple of blocks away and it has a Nordstrom Rack (overpriced items they can’t sell in normal stores) and half the shops were vacant. We had to ask the security guard for the code to the mall toilets as this is to prevent the homeless people accessing them (group of homeless in the corner area of the parking area of Walmart near the street you cross to get back to the hotel). I have also recommended to Vacations by Rail to not use this hotel as they cannot guarantee there will not be these noisy teens during the same periods as they book the independent travel. I will be writing to Qantas hotels also to not list this hotel as it does not make the clientele and quiet amenity for sleeping grade that would be expected. Note our Vacations by Rail paperwork and Qantas hotels booking did not state there was a shuttle service to the airport. I only overheard someone requesting at reception. Apparently it is on their website. We utilised this on our return to the airport and they use Lyft and was very efficient. They take an imprint of your credit card even if you have fully paid for your room (in my case nine months in advance and have thousands of dollars at their use) for ‘incidentals’ but there are no amenity charges or minibars. They have included in the nightly price a continental breakfast and make your own waffles and hot oatmeal included. Therefore they should just tell the truth and say it is in case of damage to the room. Our room keys didn’t work over the two consecutive nights as even though I had explained to reception that I would like to be in the same room for the two nights (which was accommodated) due to the separate bookings (I extended our stay) at no time did reception say that we had to come down each morning of the different bookings to reprogram our keys. This is fine but let us know so we are not going back and forward to our room. On the last night the teens partied with loud music to around 10.30pm on the corner lawn about 20m away from rooms however thankfully it was the other end of the property to us. Even as we departed there were National Airline staff waiting for their rooms (was after 4pm) and there was an issue finding their booking/ credit voucher- they didn’t look happy. Basically corporate Marriott have put the local staff in a difficult position with these privileged teens being part of their business model to the detriment of other guests. Find another hotel during the Alaskan summer that is closer to downtown and the train station if you are catching the train to Denali or wanting to walk the coastal walk or be near the visitor centre and day tour companies.

Dear Venture182576, thank you for finding the time to give us your feedback about your recent stay! We are very sorry to hear that the experience you had was below your standards! We do provide complementary transportation to/from the airport as listed on our website; we unfortunately cannot accommodate trips to other places. We appreciate the feedback about the AC units and the lighting, and we have shared this feedback to our engineering leadership team so we can work on solutions. As to the elevator, unfortunately the much-needed part for the repair had to be shipped from out of state which caused the elevator outage to continue longer than anticipated. Again, we are very sorry that the elevator outage was part of your experience. Our staff was instructed to offer assistance with luggage upon check in and check out time, and we hope that this was helpful! Again, we thank you for choosing to stay with us and we hope that you will give us another chance when your trip brings you to the area!

It seems we saved a tons of money because no place took care of our luggage. This hotel was no difference. Bed was okay - enjoy being able to have a couch - was sitting on the train for 12 hours. Breakfast was okay, nothing to write about. Nice enough to give us a late check out because our plane didn't leave to 9:00 pm. Nothing near this hotel but they did have an airplane shuttle - NO train shuttle.

If ever I needed a stark reminder why I left the Marriott Rewards Program, Springhill Suites obliged! From check in to check out, the front desk staff were unengaged and unhelpful. They did nothing about a rowdy group of teenagers making a ton of noise in the halls at 11.30pm at night. They could not answer basic questions like "what amenities am I putting down a credit card for" after they said they needed my credit card for "amenities." Turns out "amenities" meant "we're taking your credit card in case you damage your room...we don't actually have any amenities." That's fine but then why pretend the credit card is for amenities? I observed two other guests with issues bewildered by poor front desk service. One had a family member at the airport for 90 minutes while the van stayed in the driveway, despite the front desk confirming it was "on the way" to the airport, and another had a package delivered (proof of delivery shown) which was nowhere to be found. My room had a sound like plumbing water running all night long and my coffee maker didn't work. Two nights of loud, rowdy groups in the hallway outside my door - first floor and near desk so they obviously had to hear what was going on plus I mentioned it to them. Never again, Marriott. Thank you for the reminder why I do not stay with you!

Before traveling, we were told there was a shuttle between the train station and the hotel. The first 2 nights that was true. When we returned, traveling by train, at 10PM, we were told there was a new rule that the shuttle was only for the airport. We were able to get the shuttle that night, but the following day they refused to honor what we were told. The front desk clerk was rude and the manager wasn't coming in until after we had to be at the train station. We ended up taking a cab. If you are traveling by train in Alaska, which is a great way to travel, do not stay here. Each time we arrived at the station, there were many hotel shuttles waiting for passengers. You have many choices of hotels that will accommodate you. This is not one of them.
