Traveling in Alaska with my wife and two adult sons was great, but accommodations for 4 adults were challenging until we arrived at the Alaskan Frontier Gardens B&B. I had called Rita to ask about the Ivory Suite and whether it would comfortably fit all of us. She assured me that the two rollaway beds that she offered would be comfortable and my sons agreed. Rita's son, TJ, gave us two great recommendations for dinner and the breakfasts were first rate and focused on Alaskan specialities (birch syrup for pancakes, reindeer sausage, etc.). Rita also had great suggestions for things to do in Anchorage and we enjoyed the museum and 1 hour trolley tour. I recommend this B&B to anyone staying in Anchorage.

We had a one night stay in the Butterfly room and it was fantastic. The house and property are just beautiful and Rita was an excellent host. Breakfast was very tasty as well. Highly recommended, we will be booking this B&B again if we are in Anchorage.

My wife and I started our vacation here spending 3 nights. The accommodations felt like home. The decor was very Alaskan, full of collections from Alaska as well as around the world. The food was exquisite and we enjoyed every bite! Ms. Rita was a wonderful hostess and a valuable resource for things to see and do not only in Anchorage but also around the state. We will definitely be back!

first time to visit Alaska, long flights to get here from Florida, came in late but no problem for Rita...Room was very comfortable, beautiful gardens with floral smells coming from all the flowers. We woke up to coffee, a huge breakfast spread, lots of good conversation from other guests, nice start to our trip. Rita knows alot about her lovely state...she gives good advice.

We arrived at the Alaska Frontier Gardens B&B late (midnight), exhausted from 10 hours of flight time from Boston and not sure what to expect of the inn. As it was still light out (July), we were pleased to find a lovely and spacious home and property with lush and well-tended gardens, spacious interior rooms filled with native Alaskan artifacts, and our large (Butterfly) room with its very comfortable bed and well-appointed private bathroom (the size of a large bedroom, itself). Rita (the owner) greeted us in the morning with coffee and a delicious hot breakfast including homemade French toast and pound cake, fresh fruit, yogurt and reindeer sausages. She is the epitome of a great B&B host - has been at it for 30years, helps guests connect with each other at her elegantly laid table, tells a funny story about some absurdly high-maintenance guests she encountered years ago, and shares tips about local travel. At her home/inn are comfortable chairs and spaces inside and out, in which any guest can be comfortable and relaxed. We highly recommend this inn!…

First night was in Butterfly room and last night in Ivory room. Both were good. One is single and one suite. Rita has a beautiful place that offers the traveler a great place to relax and take in the beautiful landscaping, trees and flowers. Has a very wide variety of breakfast which is very good. She is also great help with guiding you if needed. Our concern was cleanliness and clutter. Hopefully this can turn around to get back in line.

This was my second time at this B&B, and I hope to make it back for a third visit. Rita is a wonderful person and I enjoy visiting with her. The location is great, the grounds are wonderful, and our room was perfect for our needs. My wife and I enjoyed ending our days on the large deck that wraps around two sides of the house. Breakfast was always a treat, and Rita even made gluten-free waffles for me a couple of times.

My husband and I stayed at Alaska Frontier Gardens for a week in March 2018. We have stayed there many times over the past decade and are never disappointed. Rita's home is large, well-appointed, and beautifully decorated with the most amazing collection of Alaskan art and artifacts. It sits on three lush acres and if you're lucky, you'll have a first class sighting of Alaska wildlife. Rita is warm and welcoming and over the years has become a dear friend. If you're coming to Anchorage, Alaska Frontier Gardens is where you want to be!!

We found this unorganized, dirty & lacking although the woman who ran it was pleasant When we arrived No one was there (eve.time) the bathroom close to our room was pilled with dirty towels on floor. The other Bathrooms toilet handle was broken & wouldn’t flush. The kitchen was piled high with stuff & looked dirty.

Response from Rita G, Owner at Alaskan Frontier Gardens Bed and Breakfast
Responded 3 May 2018
Thank you for a respond to your stay at my B&B. I put a guest welcome note on my front door for their convenience when I am not available to be at the property. It is often difficult to determine exact arrival time of guest. In reference to the towels on the bathroom floor. It was another guests bathroom which I offered when I was told the lever on the toilet was not working. The lever was working when you checked in. It was repaired during the day after it was brought to my attention while my guests were gone for the day. I was also doing spring cleaning in the working kitchen and just finished cooking for a retreat of 50 women. Hope you will reconsider staying on your next visit to Anchorage
