The hotel is nice, big rooms. The download speeds on the internet fluctuate between 0.2-0.4 Mbs, and that’s IF it’s working at all. Maintenance said they would look into it, but never came back. The maps they handed out for restaurants were copies of copies making them unreadable. Good hotel overall, just missing some niceties that other hotels have.
Wonderful experience, great, friendly staff. Our room was very nice with the most amazing view of the space needle. Very convenient, secure parking and the most convenient location with all of Seattle Center and the monorail available in a 1 min walk away. Great breakfast too!
Loved the hotel location right at base of Space Needle and walkable to everywhere! Fantastic breakfast and rooftop deck! Rooms are fresh and clean with a great Seattle vibe. Parking is easy and cheap options just ask. Best value in Seattle!
Jerome who works the front desk at check in at Hyatt Place in Seattle was such a big help to my wife and I. He spent a great deal of time helping us print our COVID Test results so we could get on cruise ship the next day.
When we first checked in, we were told that our booked room type was not available. Then the room we were placed in had a major maintenance issue: 3/4 of the plugs and all of the lamps and televisions were nonfunctioning. Staff said they would send maintenance to investigate our issue and did not. When confronted after an hour with no assistance, the staff lied and said someone had been sent. (this was 1-2am, so it was very uncomfortable to wait an hour). When we were finally offered the chance to change rooms to avoid the maintenance issue, the staff member was rude and unprofessional; glaring at us and slamming things as he gave us new keys. The next day we dealt with a different staff member regarding our switch back to the room type which we had booked. They told us it was impossible to switch us immediately because there were no rooms available. When we became upset, a room became available. It should not be necessary to confront staff members regarding lies or to become visibly sad just to be transferred to the room type which was booked and paid for. The whole experience of dealing with the front desk staff left a bad taste in my mouth. We should have been compensated for the two hours (in the middle of the night) which it took to finally place us in a suitable room, and for the two room changes we had to make just to be placed in the room type which we had booked. The hotel offered no compensation or apology for any of the hassle. Instead, we were told "it's the middle of the night" as though that made it our fault that the hotel could not deliver on what we had booked: a functioning room with two beds. …
This hotel was such much better than we expected. From the views of the Space Needle, and the rooftop deck - there was also a fabulous breakfast, and wonderful bar and servers! Patrick, Jerome, and J specifically went out of there way daily to make us feel like family! We truly missed seeing their faces every day after we got home. Thank you guys so much for providing us with such a great trip!
Staffed by teenagers. Literally. From check in desk to everyone else involved, all were teenagers at best. No one was older than 20 yo and had NO experience running a hotel. The staff was pleasant, but obviously inexperienced and in way over their heads. The bath tub drain was clogged, a personal nightmare of mine
Let me begin by saying this property very much misses the mark when it comes to the Hyatt hospitality and quality that I’ve encountered in the past. Having stayed many happy nights at Hyatt Place, I was excited to try a Hyatt House for a longer stay. Deplorably, this excitement soured very quickly. While I’m not ready to give up on the Hyatt brand yet, this most recent stay may have me avoiding anything Hyatt for a while. That said, let’s start with the good, as there are only two things I can commend at this “hotel”. Pros: - Great location, right across from the Space Needle. Easy walking distance to several top attractions in Seattle. Piers are a 20 minute walk, Pikes Place Market a 15 minute walk. - I also need to acknowledge one of the best hotel staff I’ve encountered in a while. Pat, who works food service at breakfast. Pat was the only wholesome, and genuine part of this establishment. If everyone at this establishment was as kind, hospitable, and diligent as Pat this place could have a dramatic turnaround; only time will tell. Cons: Check In - The mismanagement of this hotel is staggering. The problems started at arrival and continued for the duration of the stay. I booked a standard room with a king bed, directly though the Hyatt website. Bear in mind I have status with them, but never put much stock or faith in said status, nor do I feel I’m owed anything. That being said, when I arrived at the location, the doors were locked and there was one lonely checkin agent and one security guard (hiding in the corner out of site). When I tried the door and it was locked the checkin agent looked over and simply went back to what she was doing. When I knocked, she looked up again and waved. The security guard finally came over and opened the door for us. Having booked a standard king room, I instead was given an accesible room with two queens beds instead and a king. We were told the reasoning was “I don’t know why the shift before you gave your room away, it looks like it was assigned to you but given away, but I’ll note it and you can come by tomorrow and change for a standard king room”. Not a big deal, but clearly not a good first impression. We ended up not changing rooms for fear of what we would get, and there was no follow up from the management, nor an apology other than the one from the checkin agent. Room - Room was very much below basic hotel cleanliness standards. From dirty towels at check in, to ripped bed sheets on both queen beds. We happen to open the pull out couch as a novelty and were simply disgusted with what we found. We discovered sofa bed linens that were never taken off nor changed and they were very much used. To a used wash cloth stuffed under the sofa bed. - Lack of basic cleaning standards in general. The carpets thoughout the hotel are stained and dirty. There were used batteries under the bed, along with lots of dust and feathers from the duvets, clearly they sweep all trash under the bed to avoid cleaning it. To random toys from previous guest left under the fridge. - Room maintenance is also very much lacking, from burned out bathroom lights, to scuffed and poorly pained walls. - No water in the room (expected after checkin experience). Went to buy food and only by chance was given free water at the front desk “because you have status”. Never told to get water from the store downstairs, as status allows two bottles a day for free. No mention of this at checkin, and only by chance because we bought food from the store. - Worth mentioning (thought not much emphasis placed on this, in my opinion, but may be of relevance to you) in the special requests section upon booking I requested a higher floor away from the elevator. I was given 5th floor and two doors down from the elevator. Close but not so much. Not a big deal but further illustrates the general apathy of the staff. General Hotel: - Elevators are a mess. Two elevators service the whole building, and the hotel staff regularly use both elevators to perform house duties while guests are coming and going for breakfast and check in and check out. Don’t plan on exiting this hotel in under 10 minutes, unless you want to take the stairs every time. Like Las Vegas, get in line and wait for elevator. - Laundry room has two washers and two dryers. Only one washer was functioning during our stay. Not major, but further illustrates the overwhelming state of decline that this place is in. - Ah the dreaded Wi-Fi, yes it’s as bad as everyone says. So pathetic in fact, I was unable to use it the entire time I was there, and had to use cellular data or tether from my phone the entire time. - Rooms facing the KOMO garage learn “deee dooo deee doo” as anyone coming out of the garage at all hours of the night will produce this sound. Yes its loud, and yes it’s annoying. Google it. - While I cant fault the hotel for its guests, do note this hotel is not very well sound insulated. Every step of the upstairs neighbors could be heard, kid / dog running at all hours (hard wood floors provide little sound insulation, that why most hotels have carpet). To the party next door with the ganga reeking out in the hallway (this is a smoke free hotel), well yes you will smell it in your room, and you will hear the party conversation in every detail. Well you made it thought the laundry list, thanks for indulging me, and I hope this give a good picture of this declining property. Scoring, starting with five stars: Minus one star for attention to detail (proper room, recognizing status, follow ups), Minus one star for general cleanliness, Minus one star for maintenance, Mins one star for wifi connectivity and other minor inconveniences. Plus one star for location. Total 2 stars.…
The advertised check-in time was 3pm. We arrived at 4pm. My wife, my 4 year old, my 1 year old, and myself were all forced to wait in the lobby with our bags while our room was being prepared. We waited almost an hour (4:45p). When I tried to speak with a manager about the poor experience, I was ignored. I left my name, my room, and my cell. They never called, or tired to check in with us ... or do anything to rectify that awful experience. I'll never stay at that location again, and suggest you do not either.
When we arrived, we couldn’t park until AFTER we checked in, so be prepared to pay to park somewhere else while checking in, and then you have to pay $40 per night plus taxes and parking fees to park here, it’s not included in the room. Upon checking in, they told me they did not have the type of room we previously paid for online. I had just joined as a member and reserved a KING STUDIO SUITE CITY VIEW. She put us in a double Queen City view room, the view was of the street, trees, and the very bottom of the space needle, you couldn’t see it due to the tree. The toilet had someone else’s urine on it, and the sink had dirty dishes in it. The next day we went to change over to the king room we paid for as they told us they would Switch us the next day so we could Atleast have 1 day in what we paid for, it wasn’t. We got to the room, it was tiny, it did not match the description or the pictures online. It was not 420 SQFT. It did not have the large table pictured, it did not have the wooden piece with a tv seperating the bed and sofa area, it was one small room and the tv was far away from the bed and tiny and horrible quality. Tv in both rooms were horrible quality. View in this room was of the space needle, not any of the city. The toilet in this room had black sticky stuff on it. The phone didn’t work in either of the rooms, one of the automatic blinds didn’t work. I called the front desk, I explained that the 2 queen bed and the king were supposed to be the same size 420 square feet, and the pictures in the king suite city view showed it was bigger with large table and wooden center piece with tv, we did not get that, it was smaller than the other room. They just told me the description online is wrong and pictures are inaccurate and they did not switch my room, they did not compensate me or give me any kind of discount and we did not get the room we paid for for either night. It was almost $900 for 2 nights after joining as a member, parking was so expensive and I’m just upset we got no refund or discount. This was a horrible experience and it was for our 10 year anniversary. Also bed and pillows were hard. Also we heard stomping above us all night long. …
