We paid to stay on the roof and are so glad we did! There was a big wedding that night but the sound protection was pretty decent and they had great music so we just enjoyed it by the fireplace and the barn blocked the noise allowing our kids to sleep. The kids liked watching things get setup and taken down from our front balcony area. The views on Sunday morning looking down at the market as it was being setup was so fun! Stayed here 6 years ago and was so happy to be back & loved it even more this time:)

I lived in Seattle for 3 years and this was my first trip back. What I love about this hotel is it's convenient location right on Ballard Ave, close to great restaurants, coffee shops, the local movie theater, etc. It's rare to find a hotel in Seattle that is in an actual neighborhood, and not downtown near all of the corporate buildings. The staff here is wonderful, very helpful for anything that popped up and definitely felt like they were invested in their customers. The bedding was luxurious and love having nice bath products in the shower. I stayed for 3 nights so parking underneath the hotel was included (also rare for a Seattle hotel). There was an option to get breakfast delivered in the morning which I really appreciated and took advantage of. The rooftop view is incredible - highly recommend getting a glass of wine and watching the sunset from up there.

We were married at the Hotel Ballard Hotel 10/24/15 and returned 10/24/20 to celebrate our 5 year anniversary there too. We had such a great stay! The room was spotless. COVID precautions were obvious, including wrapped/sanitized TV remotes, pens, etc. William and Cody helped me arrange for a room on the pavilion floor, and had a bottle of cold champagne and a sweet card waiting for us. We had a great dinner at Stoneburner (also COVID safe), and spent the next morning wandering through the Ballard Market. It was a great weekend escape. Thank you Hotel Ballard for making our stay so special.

I would love to give this hotel a glowing review, but I can't.

First the good:
The location is exceptional. It is right in the heart of downtown Ballard just steps from great dining and shops. The room was clean and well appointed. The front desk workers were very nice.

The not so good:
I chose the hotel because it advertised complimentary use of the health club, including lap swimming on their website. When I arrived I was notified that the club was closed unless I wanted to hire a personal trainer to workout and the pool was also additional and you had to book specific lap swimming times at $10 per 1/2 hour. Of course all lap swimming times were fully booked so not laps! Now I recognize these are exceptional times with Covid-19, but that is a pretty big amenity to not disclose prior to booking. It should be noted on their website or shared in an email confirmation. The hotel had virtually not amenities. Granted it is a small boutique hotel, but there is nothing. Finally, in the tradition of small intimate hotels, the front desk should be trained to answer simple questions about where to dine or shop in the neighborhood. I asked for recommendations on where to eat, and the poor guy at the front desk had no clue of what within the immediate area of the hotel.

Would I stay here again, Possibly, but I would watch for a lower price. It was one of the most expensive options and offered very little for the money.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ballard. The hotel itself was inviting from the moment you walked into the door and the service was great. The rooms were spacious and quality with incredibly comfy beds.

The gym and pool attached to the hotel were awesome but please be aware that its a fully functioning gym with members so we would advise to use it at off peak times when its less busy.

Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I only had one night at the Hotel Ballard and really wish we could have stayed longer. We’ve visited Seattle a few times and this was our first time in Ballard so it was a great introduction to the area. I had requested an early checkin in advance and was thrilled to be accommodated. We arrived late morning and the kind and helpful gentleman at the front desk registered us and gave us a parking pass so we could leave our car. We explored the cool neighborhood and spent some time at the Nordic Museum (which we greatly enjoyed) and when we returned our room was ready at the promised time. We sprung for a Courtyard Suite on the top floor and it was well worth the price, stylish, clean, spacious and exceedingly comfortable. There’s a sitting room with a cozy couch and chairs along with a fireplace and TV. The bedroom featured a king bed, nightstands, another TV, a chest of drawers and closet. The bathroom had a huge soaking tub, large walk in shower, vanity with plenty of space and a separate toilet room. There were soft towels and robes and all of the amenities you’d expect, including quality bath products.

We were able to walk over to The Walrus and the Carpenter for an early dinner (highly recommend) and got delicious gelato for dessert at a shop nearby. We decided to leave the car and used Uber to get to the magnificent Chihuly glass museum near the Space Needle. It was incredibly quiet overnight and we slept very well. We asked at the front desk for a recommendation for an early breakfast and he pointed us to Salmon Bay Cafe, a short walk away. It has a fun, retro vibe, service was friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious with generous serving sizes. Overall we had a terrific experience and we’d definitely return.

This is my second time staying at Hotel Ballard and I opted for a luxury suite this time. I was on the second floor facing Ballard Ave. I did hear some noise (arrived on St Patty's day and bagpipes walked down the street) but overall everything died down in the evening. The room itself was well appointed - large oversized bathroom and it was nice to have a second room for when I needed to work. The desk overlooks a beautiful window onto the street. On this trip I took advantage of the Spa that is inside the hotel (although run by a different company, Olympic Spa). This was on the same floor that I was staying on so couldn't be more convenient. This will continue to be my go to hotel for luxuriousness of the rooms and walking distance to so many great restaurants and shops in Seattle. The hotel staff is also very friendly. Note that they are no longer delivering breakfast from your room from a local shop as the shop they previously worked with has closed due to the pandemic.

Where do I start. The reason for our stay was because our daughter was getting married. As we arrived at Hotel Ballard, we were greeted by Ally. She asked us if we needed directions to the parking structure. She gave us a blue card that had a map to the structure. A parking permit was never disgusted. The next day, the day of the wedding, we found a $50.00 parking ticket on our car, given by the hotel. While driving to the wedding, I called the hotel and spoke to Ally. She claims that she explained the parking permit to us. I have three witnesses that state otherwise. The instructions were never explained and judging from all the other cars that had parking tickets on their vehicles, she didn't explain it to a lot of other people. My last words to Miss Ally were "You people are horrible!" She refused to do anything about the ticket. Later that night, I spoke to the night manager, Daniel. He was the only person that actually helped. He said he would waive the $50.00 parking ticket. The following day, my husband and I had take-out breakfast in our room. The food bag was too large for our hotel room trash can. I took the bag down to the lobby and asked the young man that was at the front desk if he could help me dispose of it. He took me no, I would have to go find a trash can out on the street. Two blocks later I found a dumpster. We stated at Hotel Ballard for 3 nights, at cost of $1,200.00 and their employees couldn't help with a bag of trash. I've been treated better at a Best Western. Aside from Daniel the night manager, the employees at Hotel Ballard are awful. If you like being treated with 0 respect, stay at Hotel Ballard.

Love this boutique upscale hotel with the king suites. they’re super cozy and trendy. Love the sliding barn like doors for separation of space. The courtyard suites are all up on the 5th floor with the mezzanine overlooking Ballard and ships. No rooms connect apparently however and due to COVID access to the Olympia Athletic Club is closed to hotel guests.

This was our second stay at the Hotel Ballard, the first time was in 2019. There have been some changes in Ballard since our last stay. The street is now one lane with outdoor dining venues for all the restaurants. The hotel is still wonderful. Great coffee in the lobby in the morning. Olympic gym is huge and beautiful, with all the work out equipment you need. We stayed in a standard king facing Ballard Street, very little street noise. Room is large and comfortable. Parking for smaller cars is in the underground garage, had to park on level 2 or 3 so we could open the hatch on our car. Try Salmon Bay Cafe for breakfast, right around the corner. Some homeless have found Ballard a nice place to live.

Is this hotel close to the cruise port?
Answer from Carolyn G
Columbia, South Carolina77 contributions47 helpful votes
Yes, it was a reasonable drive to the cruise port. We used uber from the hotel to get to the cruise port. The hotel staff was very helpful in setting us up with uber too! We were surprised that there were several couples also going on our cruise staying at The Ballard. Even ran into folks who just checked in after their cruise and got the "must do" list from them. If I ever cruise in or out of Seattle, this will be the first place I would try to stay at.

Answer from Hotel ballard
Seattle, Washington
Hello Bruce, We do not have any rooms with 3 beds, however, we have a Standard Double Room with two double beds, and both our Courtyard Suites and Luxury Suites have a king size bed with a pull out sofa. If you are looking for 3 separate beds I would suggest reserving a Standard Double room and a Standard King Room. I hope this is of help! Please, feel free to call the front desk and speak to one of our reservation specialists to help you reserve a room and answer any other questions you may have. Our phone number is (206)789-5012. Thank you and we look forward to hosting you and your friends this fall! Best, Jamie Riggle Manager-Hotel Ballard & Ballard Inn 206.789.5012
