The Grove West Seattle is a gem of a little motel in west Seattle. There is no glitz here but it is clean, clean, clean, with all the basics, and a super friendly and helpful staff. And it is pet friendly. My German Shepherd mutt, Freeway, concurs with my five star rating. The setting for this motel is in a pleasant, mixed use, retail, industrial and residential neighbourhood. There is a YMCA a block away for fitness freaks. An eclectic, warehouse based, collection of take-out food places is right across from the YMCA. Other food options are a short drive away. Speaking of food, the Grove Motel has a free breakfast, in a sparkling clean breakfast room, staffed by a lady who cannot do enough to be of assistance. Breakfast includes boiled eggs, dry cereal, bagels and biscuits, bananas, and really good coffee. No need to go to Starbucks for your morning caffeine jolt. Is the neighbourhood safe? I found it to be so. I walked my dog at 2:00 AM without incident. And folks I met at other times were nothing but friendly. One of the things I look for when selecting a motel is white bed covers. They do not hide dirt. They are an indication to me that management is focused on cleanliness. And yes, this motel has white bed covers. The bed in my room was comfortable. The TV was great. And the fridge worked just fine. There was no micro-wave. But with great food choices a walk or short drive away, there was no need. Did I mention it was really clean? I think I did.

This place is a pretty standard road motel type of place. It's very clean and the beds are comfy (and have bedbug-proof covers on both boxspring and mattress...which I REALLY appreciate in a hotel these days!). The girl working the desk was an absolute gem. I arrived here after a fire burned down my apartment, at my wits end after searching for a "pet friendly" hotel...only to find that cats are not allowed. It's ONLY dog-friendly, which I really wish they would have advertised, because when I was told that my two cats couldn't stay here, I just deflated because I had nowhere else to go. The girl at the check in pointed me at some options, and even offered to watch them for me at her home(!). Luckily there's a nice cat hotel across the street, so they stayed there and I stayed here. But that touch of basic humanity really did a lot to lift my mood in a bad time, thank you! The weird thing about this place is that there are no microwaves in the rooms. They have a fridge and a Keurig coffee machine, but no microwave. I find that baffling. They do have a microwave in the office, though. The worst part about the stay was some of the road noise. Lots of kids drag racing, some people talking loudly in the parking lot right below your window...nothing too bad though. And the hospitality more than made up for it. The Cat Sitting Hotel across the street is also a lovely place!

The overall look of large room is "old'' Motel built 1962 during "Seattle Worlds Fair " carpet is worn, but looks clean, plain white bedspread,Two story building with outside stairs and no elevator Big room is clean , bed comfortable, lots pillows, medium size TV ,dresser, pod coffee maker, comfortable but worn "easy chair" and Office type chair that fits computer table. Iron and ironing board in closet-like alcove. Bathroom: tub with shower , lots fluffy towels and hair dryer. Big window facing outer walkway has black out roll up fabric curtain under roll up see thru curtain. When down for privacy room is really "dark" room is really dark but does have floor lamp and bedside lamp.Refrigerator but no microwave. (Lack of microwave in room real negative for me) Basic 'minimal ' but adequate breakfast ( no hot food) in clean environment---also "brewed" coffee. Biggest positive for me was price and available grocery stores: Trader Joes & Whole Foods--3 blocks away. Safe neighborhood...occasional siren from firehouse 2 blocks away. Has rooftop deck with Firepit for use in summer. Front desk has 24 hour coverage & staff very helpful: also Microwave and coffee supplies ++++This is ON LY motel in West Seattle...

We were looking for lodging close to downtown and with free parking. The Grove Inn located in West Seattle did not disappoint. This is an older property but is has been remodeled. Our room had one queen size bed. The room was small but the bathroom was good size. Although the room was on the smaller side, it was very clean and offered a fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Plus, finally, a hotel that gives ample bath towels! It was very hot when we were in Seattle and the A/C units would freeze you out if you let them which is a plus! TV worked and we had no problems with the wifi. They have a cute deck area on the second floor that was great for enjoying the evening. Parking is in the lot out in front and we had no issues during our stay. I don't recall if they mention it on their website, but there is guest self serve laundry and there is a guest computer and printer in the office if you need it. There is a bus stop right out in front of the hotel. The breakfast was the least impressive on our journey, but we made it work and didn't leave hungry. The breakfast hostess kept the tables clean and the food they had didn't run out. Habit Burger Grill just a minute drive down the street is recommended for a good fast meal. Skip Taco Time. Not worth it. Try to swing by Alki Beach just before sunset and enjoy ice cream while watching the beauty. Head back to the hotel (heading the direction towards downtown Seattle) and you will see a magnificent nighttime view of the city! Alki Beach is maybe a 15 minute drive from the Inn. Shout out to the front desk attendant (I think her name was Angie) with blonde hair. She was very welcoming, friendly, funny and gave us some great info on Seattle. A shout out to the cleaning crew. They did a great job and I were very friendly in the halls. One minor suggestion, please consider installing bath hooks in the bathrooms. There was no place to hang our towels to dry unless you wanted to use the rack above the toilet and it was too low and the towels would touch the toilet top. Sort of gross. Not a deal breaker but hooks behind the door would be ideal. This a deceivingly larger establishment than it first appears. There are winding halls with rooms tucked in all sorts of places. We liked it. Keep in mind this is not the Ritz Carlton. If that's what you want then go to the Ritz. This is a family friendly, safe, affordable, clean, well kept Inn not far from downtown Seattle and for a fraction of the price of a downtown hotel. Safe travels.

one of the nicest , cleanest places we stayed at on vacation this year, close to the free shuttle that takes you down to the water taxi and then a 10 minute walk to town. next time were back in Seattle we well stay here, if your going to the Sea Hawks, this is the place to stay, why pay hundreds for a bed an shower plus parking down town when this is minutes away. This is a great little spot to stay. It's the only hotel in the West Seattle area, and it's clean, the staff is great, and everything in the room was as expected. It's really an old motel that has been renovated but they're definitely trying to make this a nice place to stay, with the continental breakfast and free parking. Seattle is not a cheap place to stay and this was one of the better values in the area.

From the outside, I was skeptical. I have never stayed in a motel style room before where the door was accessible from the street. We were in room 208. Check in was great. The blond lady at the front was warm and welcoming, even asked to make sure we were 21! (I'm in my 30's) so that was a nice moment. Told us where the room was, how to access. We went and got out luggage and made our way up the stairs. Room was decent. Beds were comfy, shower was hot. I loved that the flooring wasn't carpet. Made me feel like the room was cleaner than most hotels. For the negatives, they need better pillows. These are $5 Walmart ones at best and we're not comfy at all. The shower curtain in the bathroom also wasn't long enough? Either my butt was hanging out the back, or water would get all over the floor at the front. Parking here was awful. We were staying on the side that only had 6 parking stalls, so we had to bring our luggage around the entire building. The room could use some touching up. On the bathroom wall, it looks like someone had attempted to draw some profanities on the wall and management never painted over it. The window also had a few dead bugs in the window sill when we arrived. The breakfast was a joke. The room was hot and stuffy. The AC wasn't working in there. The tables were sticky and they just had stale pastries and stale cereal. I realise its a free breakfast, but it's the worst I've ever been to. Overall, the negatives are minimal and the positives outweigh this review. It really was a decent place to sleep for the night. And for the price, it was definitely worth it!
