As others have noted, this is a 30s vintage building which means great details, art deco design and generous rooms with lots of windows that open. Kitchenette was clean, worked fine, beds were comfy and the view from our 4th floor corner room was amazing, there were even jigsaw puzzles and books in the lobby. It was very warm when...

Hi Violet - Thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay in our vintage hotel. In addition to the Virginia Mason Medical Center cafeteria, we also have the Rhododendron Café in the lobby of the Inn at Virginia Mason (directly across the street from our entrance) that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offers our guests...

We were passing through Seattle on our Eastcoast trip and I booked this hotel as it was one of the better value ones (hotel prices in Seattle are pretty pricey) I adored the fact that they were actual 1930's apartments. It's like stepping back in time! The room was clean, the bed comfortable and having a little kitchen was great....

We stayed here for 4 nights and the stay was not pleasant. The tub was not draining and the first room we had booked smelled like there was a dead body in there. If you do stay there is parking on the street but it is close to pikes place and it is a downhill trip but a uphill steep...

Dear Charith - Thank you for your review. We're so sorry to hear the tub did not drain well during your stay. This is an ongoing issue with our older building and I hope we responded to your concerns when you brought them to our attention. I can assure you that have no ghosts in the building disrupting our plumbing!...

This hotel was perfect due to its adjacency to Virginia Mason hospital and the fact that it has a kitchenette. Ideal for a long stay during medical treatment or when visiting someone in hospital. The neighborhood is very central and has the basics within walking distance.

Good Morning Traveler! Thank you for your review. We appreciate your kind comments. Our Baroness is not fancy but it does provide a great spot for guests who are here visiting one of the world-class medical facilities in the neighborhood. Safe travels!

The Baroness is a 1930's apartment hotel owned by Virginia Mason Medical Center for the convenience of their patients and their families. It is open to the public, as well. It is a classic beauty representative of grand hotels from another time. Beds are comfortable, nearly all rooms have stoves, microwaves, small refrigerators, hair dryers, and alarm clocks. Staff are...

I had a corner room with 2 beds, separate living room, kitchen, and 2 large closets. The hotel is a historic gem on First Hill (a steep climb above the University Avenue Light Rail Link Station). Enjoy a great breakfast at the Virginia Mason Hosptal Cafe across the street. Walk up to Broadway or 12th Street for more shops and...

This hotel was good, but it was very old. The room, beds and sheets were clean, and there was enough space for three of us. The kitchenette provided a fridge, sink, microwave and stove, although all the appliances were very dated and had that old look to them -- although they were clean and in good use. The lobby was...

Hi Traveler - Thank you so much for your review. Old and classy. . .that's our Baroness. Our one bedroom suites use to be "old" apartments and really give our guests a residential feel. We hope to welcome you again if your travels bring you back to Seattle!

With a family member going in for surgery- the Baroness offers medical rates so my husbands family and we all stayed here. My first impression was PU- I could barely get past the smell of the building. But after staying here for 3 nights I will say it is very "Seattle" and within walking distance of the hospitals and a...

Hi Traveler - Thank you for your review. Most of our guests are here for medical related stays and we try to provide an affordable option to out of town family members and care givers here providing support. We have a few new things in our Baroness: drapes, television and bedding and shower curtains as noted. We have plans for...

The festive and well appointed lobby made my stay look promising. I have stayed at the Inn at Virginia Mason so I didn't expect nor did I desire the sleek steel and mirrors modern hotel. Thank you for your review. It sounds as though you have given us a try on several occasions. With your encouragement, we will continue to make improvements while keeping our prices affordable for guests visiting the area medical facilities. This sometimes slows the improvement projects but we do have plans for fresh paint and new carpet this year. Take care...
