The hotel itself is fine. The mandatory $25 Destination Fee is not. In my view it is a roundabout way of increasing the hotel's revenue per room while presenting room rates that appear to be lower. Sours the experience.

We were in Seattle for a large conference at the convention center. The last two times we were in Seattle we stayed at the Hilton. Unfortunately the room block was full for the Hilton, so we chose the Westin instead. The best part about the Westin was the people from the wonderful joyful man who checked us in and upgraded us to a city view, to housekeeping, and the people who brought water and more towels. But the space itself could use a refresh. We thought there was a mini-fridge based on the room description, since we typically travel with some of our own food. Unfortunately, it was one of those ridiculous "honor bar" type fridges that charge you if you bump something. As others have noted, the bed is bizarre. I counted 5 layers of covers, all white, including several layers of plain white sheets with several comforters (yes, several) in between. Keeping them all aligned was ridiculous. Why would anyone need that amount of covers? It was a bit of a puzzle. Also, the mattress has some kind of gigantic pad on it, that made it more like a hammock. We folded back some of the top covers, but there's nothing to be done with the pad. The highlight of the room was the huge expansive window that afforded a great view of downtown. We didn't eat at the restaurants, as it looked like there were few choices that fit our vegan diet. We got a low conference rate on the room, so from a value perspective it was fine. If we are ever back in Seattle for business, we will likely not book this hotel again.

My business held a 3 day art show at the Seattle Westin and Jenny Steele was amazing to work with in setting up the dates and overall campaign. She worked with our budget and made it happen. We then worked with Brenda Musick who was also awesome and made sure our event was a success. My team stayed at the hotel as well and the rooms were wonderful and the hotel is surrounded by the beauty of Seattle downtown. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here recently for CBC. Nice hotel but what puts them over the top is their people. The concierge staff was super helpful and friendly, as well as the valet folks. But by far our favorite was Clarence at 1900 Fifth Bar & Lounge. Such a nice guy! Along with excellent people skills, he went above and beyond taking care of our group. Drinks were great and the grilled chicken caesar salad is one of the best I've had. Our friends enjoyed the charcuterie tray and all of the food we had was very tasty. We enjoyed our stay in downtown Seattle, thanks to the great hospitality we received! Pro tip: Ask for Clarence at 1900 :)

Paul at the Concierge Desk went above and beyond in securing impossible to get tickets with only 3 hours notice. He's new to the job and hope corporate has noticed his perfessionalism, ability to achieve difficult tasks and has that unique gift of making your request seem of the up most importance. Keep him, foster his enthusiasm and pay him worthy of his skills. .

Hmmm, high hopes for a decent hotel stay are dashed with Westin short comings; sad very sad. The Westin is centrally located in downtown Seattle and after our brief stay it struck us that the Westin is more of an event location vs a hotel you want to be staying at. The lobby was hyper busy (yes as one would expect during the weekend), but add in several hundred young ladies all competing for wearing the shortest, tightest, LBD (little black dress) and the scene darn near becomes a strange and very loud bizarre happening. The room has its pluses (roomy, nice view, lots of plush towels) and it's minuses (security safe was locked and not accessible, drawers for clothing aren't as in aren't there, but hey there's a ton of drawer space devoted to things you can purchase, internet access was dismal and required five phone calls over several hours to finally-finally get access**). So when things aren't right you call the front desk, which was slammed and you can imagine how (un)helpful that turned out to be. Ok enough with slamming the Westin as we won't be back. **required 3 calls to the internet help desk. Accessing the net required you enter your room # and last name, ez-pz right? But entering the required info resulted in "name not found'. Hence call the front desk. Front desk cannot help so they forward the call. OK send us to the tech help desk, but when the conversation got down to "OK now give me your MAC address....." it seemed extreme to make sure we could connect to the net.

Bed was a disaster. The mattress protector lumped up and was impossible to smooth out. The duvet would have been perfect, but there was a top sheet then a thin comforter, and finally the duvet. It wouldn’t stay as a unit. We should’ve had daily housekeeping, because the bedding needed professional help. The quality of the sheets was beautiful, but the bad experience was probably the worst we’ve had in our last 50 nights of hotel stays.

Disappointing, but adequate. Dated, a little dark, dinged up, and disorganized. Even with Elite status I had to wait almost 3 hours for my room after showing up to check in. TBH - I could have accepted a less adequate room. But why? A call to housekeeping would have been appreciated. I did not get into my room until after 4 pm. So… the 4 PM guarantee was not so guaranteed. This is a hotel for large volumes of convention folk and Norwegian cruisers, so the vibe is frenetic. Tip- The parking structure next door allows parking for $30 overnight to self park. The hotel charges $65 for valet. The hotel is connected to the parking garage (Floor 2) by a long sky bridge with signs directing you to the Westin (Mezzanine level) which seemed convenient. I found out the hard way with luggage full of work materials, on my way to check in, that you can’t get in without without a key. There is a phone there which tells pre-registered guests to call to get in. Someone did pick up but said that the hotel does not have the ability to open the door and they have been meaning to correct all the signs. I never tried my key once checked in to see if it made the door open. It is better not to move your car once in because street parking is tight and expensive. The neighborhood is dicey and way worse at night, so be mindful walking around. Safe travels.

This hotel was recommended to me by a co-worker and I am glad I took his advice! The hotel is large and updated and the room and views were stunning. I was given a room with an amazing view of the water and a partial view of the Space Needle. The room itself was quite large and the bed was one of the best hotel beds I’ve slept in. The room was virtually soundproof. While the hotel charges a $25 destination fee, they actually give you $27 in food and beverage credit so it more than cancels out. The location is perfect, it’s in a great part of town and a nice quick walk to the Space Needle. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. If you are in Seattle, stay here, it is worth the cost.

Last week, I attended a major conference in Seattle as a member of an organization. The opening speaker happened to be the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Westin Seattle, the venue for our event. We watched a video presentation that recounted the brand's history, starting in Seattle and ending with a merger with the Marriott chain of hotels. As I reflect on that video on this Sunday night, it's striking how my experience at the hotel sharply contrasts with the Westin's promise of enhancing the well-being of guests in every way. On Friday, when I checked out after a two-night stay, I left the Westin with a painful head injury, all thanks to a careless valet attendant. Our interaction occurred on Wednesday evening whenI tried to retrieve my bags from my parked vehicle. He seemed doubtful when I mentioned I was a guest saying I had the wrong ticket and insisted I pay the $60 daily fee directly to him, instead of charging it to my room. Given the tense situation and my time constraints due to the event, I reluctantly complied. On Friday morning, after I checked out, I chatted with the daytime valet and left them with my luggage after they assured me it would be quicker than going to the front desk. I was to guide our members to the nearby monorail station for the event, leaving me with little time to change into my evening attire. I expected a quick retrieval of my luggage, which they had placed on a cart by the door. Sadly, the same valet, a tall, white man, was there. He was clearly unhappy to see me and directed his female colleague to "deal with this one." She complied, and I explained that I only needed to grab my dress, following her to the back valet room. As she struggled with my luggage, I politely asked her to place it on a cart, as I only needed one of the bags. The male valet started shouting, demanding that I leave the area because I didn’t belong there. I said, “ Can you please be nicer?” He then started accusing me of being pushy and self-centered. It became clear that he didn't see me as a guest or even as a fellow human being. At this point, the young woman had rolled out the cart, and as I was placing my luggage on it, the valet abruptly yanked it, causing the metal bar to strike my head. In pain, I exclaimed, "Ow, that hurt!" His response was, "You should have moved." There was no apology or empathy, just pure disdain and anger. It was evident that he felt justified in causing me harm, even if it was an accident. Even after I contacted the front desk manager, he continued to belittle and berate me. I kept mentioning my head pain, but he seemed to enjoy watching me suffer as he engaged in casual conversation with one of the drivers waiting for our keynote speaker to return to his vehicle. I left with my car, my head throbbing. I realized that this valet saw me solely as an Asian American woman who didn't deserve his respect. That evening, I reached out to the event coordinator for our conference, expressing my distress. She was apologetic and promised to have a manager call me the following day. However, no one contacted me the next day. When I followed up with the event manager, she was dismissive, informing me that her boss would call me on Monday. When I requested the GM's name, she claimed they were not allowed to disclose it. I then contacted the on-duty hotel manager, who was similarly dismissive and even suggested that I file a police report. He threatened to end the call if I mentioned pursuing legal action. I also reached out to the valet manager, who was more understanding and promised to review the security footage to understand what had happened. However, he failed to return my call. The incident left me icing my forehead throughout the party that night to prevent swelling. For the next two days, my forehead remained bruised and painful. When the Westin sent me an email asking if they had contributed to my well-being, my response was an unequivocal "no." My experience was the polar opposite. I departed the hotel with a throbbing head and profound distress, to the point where, as a grown woman, I contemplated tears when I got into my car. Instead, I channeled my emotions into anger. This experience underscored how the promises made by sales and marketing professionals do not always align with the actual customer experience. Brand promises are meant to be gold standards, the foundation upon which customers build trust. They are what keep me loyal to the Bonvoy program, choosing Marriott properties as my go-to for comfortable and secure lodging during my travels. However, my experience at the Westin Seattle shattered that trust. The physical harm I endured when the metal pole struck my head, coupled with the disrespectful and insulting manner in which the valet treated me, compounded by the lack of communication from hotel management regarding my well-being, led me to believe that the Westin Seattle had strayed far from its organizational purpose. This purpose, ostensibly, is to enhance the well-being of both its guests. As for me, I’m left with a throbbing head ache and a promise to myself to enhance my well being anywhere other than Westin Seattle. And I’d suggest you do as well.
