We stayed at the Chilkoot Trail Outpost in September. The Outpost is about 9 miles from Skagway on a mostly paved road, near the abandoned gold rush town of Dyea. There are about 7 cabins and a main lodge; each cabin has a different configuration....More

Hi there, we stayed in Whitehorse in the Yukon and drove down to Skagway and stayed overnight at the awesome Chilkoot Outpost Trail. Skagway town centre is very commercial and geared up to tourists who mainly come from the big cruise ships. Juneau is an island so it's not possible to drive to Chilkoot (other than putting the car on a big ferry.) We caught the (small passenger) ferry to Juneau & saw moose on the shore, 11 humpback whales, seals and sea lions, it was amazing, strongly recommend you take a ferry trip. We were only in Juneau for the day but went to see the glacier which is worth a trip, also a chance to see bears at the glacier too, although we didn't see any. Have a great trip!
