I am the South African that stayed in September 2013. The following need attention: 1. No reception during the day until 7pm. Nobody answers the phone until 7pm. 2. The check in time is 7pm. I arrived at 11am and had to wait until 7pm before I could speak to anybody. I could not store my luggage anywhere and wasted...

This is a nice and affordable place to stay for a group of people. The owners are quite friendly. It has both hostel style dorm and private room. The first days we stay in a dorm accommodates six people. the first layer of sheet of bed was not that clean, anyway, you will place another sheet on it, so it's...

This is a hostel with a few rooms with shared baths. I stayed in a room and shared a bath with another room. It was clean, although the lighting in the bathroom was very poor. My issues with this facility were two fold. One the stairs were very steep, old and narrow. I am a fit 65 year old, but...

We booked the room with an efficient kitchenette. Bathroom was right outside the room and kept very clean. Ample space for two of us to spread out. View was perfect to enjoy the bay and mountains. Walking distance to downtown, but still very quiet location. Steps were a little steep to get up to the 2nd floor - no biggie,...

Moby Dick is the best value in Seward. We stayed in the smaller lodging room which had a kitchenette, double and twin bed, right across from the shared bath. The kitchenette was well stocked with cookware/dishes/hot plate/small refridge and FREE coffee! Nice touch. It was very clean - felt welcoming and comfy. Suzanne and her daugher, Merit, were wonderful -...

This turned out to be a great place to stay. We stayed both times we were in Seward. We had never stayed at a hostel before but it was very nice and we would recommend it to anyone. We liked the private room upstairs the best. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

We arrived on peak weekend in Seward with very minimal accommodation available. Several hotels we tried were close to $300 per night and then we approached Moby Dick Hostel. Well it was $50 per night in a dorm of 6. Quiet time 11pm - 7am. Kitchen, WiFi, lounge area and a small shop supply on site. Absolutely all we needed...

A good experience, it was full of backpackers as Seward is quite expensive but nice people there. I tried the big shared room and private room, both were nice! The Swiss owner is quite busy as the place is always full!

I only stayed here one night before catching the train back to Anchorage. Super nice people and a convenient location (walking distance) to everything in town. All the facilities were clean and well kept. There weren't any lockers for valuables and I had a ton of camera gear but had no problems. There were people from early 20's to at...

I stayed two nights in a female dorm. The bunks were very comfortable and the bathroom clean. The kitchen was well equipped, and the family style dining table encouraged people to sit and chat. The owner was very helpful about booking me a last minute boat tour. The hostel is on the route of the town shuttle bus, so getting...
