Kona Reef is an oceanfront condominium resort adjacent to a sandy beach park in historic Kailua-Kona and near quaint shops and restaurants. One- and two-bedroom suites offer full-kitchens, FREE WiFi, and ocean or garden views. Amenities include an oceanfront swimming pool, jet spa, and a cabana with barbecue area.
Vrbo and truly enjoyed our stay. Every part of Kona Reef was Ideal. No complaints at all, 10 day stay perfect vacation condo rental. I still question the before you leave clean up list. Strip sheets off bed? Put all used towels near washer? Rinse dishes and put in dishwasher? Extreme list do to the fact, one does pay a cleaning fee. Other then that question, this is a perfect spot on the Kona side.

My husband and I stayed in this condo for 1 week in October 2019. Entry door on parking side and spacious lanai on the ocean side. Good sized parking slots. Underground parking, if you prefer. This unit allows 2 vehicles to be parked. See white binder on writing desk for parking tags. This is a corner unit with windows on 2 walls (West & South) and the front entry on the Mountain side (East) wall. Locking Steel screen door at the entry allows for taking advantage of refreshing breezes. The entry door latches open, if desired, to prevent door from slamming closed. Bedroom, kitchen, LR have windows on south side, with wonderful breezes coming through in the mornings and evenings. The unit has AC. There is a gazebo seating area on the South side, designated as a smoking area. It is…

This was our first trip to Kona Reef Resort, and it was fabulous! Located within a short walk downtown, this Oceanside resort was perfect. We had a great view of the ocean to watch the Iron Man World Competition swimming event, and then walked to the front to watch the running. There happened to be several competitors and their families staying, as well which made for fun conversation. The condo was very well appointed including a washer and dryer. We like to cook and found it to be very easy with a kitchen full of cookware. The pool is right on the ocean making for beautiful sunsets each evening! We’d absolutely stay here, again. The staff was very helpful which topped off a great visit.

Small pool and jacuzzi with BBQ grills to use. Short walk to all the shops and restaurants. Fun tide pools on the beach, but not too easy to swim/snorkel at the property. The staff is only available 9 to 5, so very much like an apartment complex. I was trading in a high end week at Club Regina in Mexico (Cabo, Cancun, etc.), so this not at all at par with those resorts. We had a coffee spill that was left for us to clean up and deep cleaning of hidden areas was not done, but for the most part it was acceptable. I would expect this to be on the low end of cost. Since I traded a very high end week, I was disappointed.

Aloha Thank you for your TripAdvisor review. I am sorry about the issues you had. The Kona Reef is very different form the other Club Regina resorts and therefore is hard to compare. Mahalo

We picked this place due to the fact that it was close to everything. We had a good ocean view and close to all the restaurants, bars, and local shops in Kailua . Fully equipped kitchen and had nice balcony to enjoy breakfast or a meal while watching the ocean waves . The only downside was that the air conditioning would go on and off at times. We stayed in unit B-14 which fortunately had air conditioning in both the bedroom and the living room . They did have electric fans as well to cool the place down as it did get hot and stuffy at night . The furniture is tropical themed which was a nice touch. The unit had beach chairs and body boards for those interested in surfing . The unit had a washer and dryer which came in handy . Don't overpack!

Book direct with condo managers or condo owners not through a service or online amalgamator. Will get better results. We had a fantastic experience here - clean grounds, nice pool, close to everything and a beautiful view of the ocean. Our condo owners had everything you could possibly want - multiple coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, lots of beach towels, even an ice maker in the fridge so we didn't even have to buy ice for the coolers. The bed was big and comfy in our condo and they had more than enough utensils, plates, pots, pans, etc, etc plus all the extras (laundry and dish soap, toilet paper, tissues, shampoo, soap, salt, sugar, seasonings, etc etc). Its the extras we don't usually get when we rent condos but this place had it all. Not exactly "new" - it is…

We stayed in F21, location was. Fab walk to. Restaurants and very nice oceanview good complex pool area nice it was very quiet even though it was full we early saw people except at pool very friendly Condo was nice very comfy very hot while we were there ac only in lounge but we managed fine lanai with great view Only problem we had was lack of instructions so it took us three evenings to work out how to get the tv going and didn’t realise that the chair was actually a recliner until day 4 - some info would have been great -

Upon arrival we were assigned our oceanview condo. It was a view of a small sand beach area, not the ocean, where homeless people frequent. Condo is very outdated. Some appliances have rust on them. Dirty a/c filter showed dirt on the ceiling. Fans were dirty too. Torn and dirty carpet. Dirty tile areas. Dryer filter has not been cleaned in weeks. We washed dishes as we needed because there was food stuck to some pieces. When we called the office we were told that no other units were available and if we left we would lose our money. If you stay here be prepared for a big letdown.

This unit was in a very convenient location and we were only about 30 feet from the breakers. While the unit was clean, the parking garage, elevator and walks were not. The bed was pretty much broken down. The other furnishings were well-worn. No amenities except for the pool.

We visited the resort in July as a family of three with a teenage daughter. The resort is only a 10 minutes stroll from the centre of Kona and all the restaurants and shops. We were allocated apartment B2 which was a one bedroom apartment with a sofa bed in the lounge. The apartment was well equipped with everything you would need to self cater (we didn’t ) if you wanted but also had beach chairs, cool box, TV, Wi-fi. The room had a small outside garden with table/chairs and a sofa accessed via patio doors. There isn’t a sea view but the beach is literally over the fence. The only downside is that the apartment only has air conditioning in the lounge area and so the bedroom gets very warm and stuffy. There is a ceiling fan but it could do with being a bit more powerful. …
