I have traveled to the Big Island several times and always stayed at the Kona Coast resort with satisfactory results. This time, my husband and I thought we would try something different and because the Holua is affiliated with Shell Vacations, which also owns Kona...More
We're so grateful to trip advisor for this gem. We literally never wanted to go home. The rooms are like a well appointed house-heaps of room and everything you need. Even the coffee is good! The kids had an amazing time and we could watch...More
We stayed at Holua Resort and were very pleased with the accommodations. The staff was very friendly and helpful and check-in easy. The condo was very clean with a well-equipped kitchen. Multiple pools made it very easy to use the pool and spa and gas...More

hi we are Australian so also not used to driving on the "wrong"side. We rented a car from Alamo they have a shuttle service from the airport to their office 5 mins. The prices were reasonable and we stayed on the island for a week. We used the car to visit the volcano area where we stayed for a few days before staying in kona.
My husband got used to the driving quite quickly especially with me nagging from the passenger seat. The Big Island is fascinating and diverse so great to have a car. ( unless you just want to sit on the beach or by the pool and relax)
