My shuttle driver (from the airport to the rental car agency) asked where we were staying and when I told hime Uncle Billy's, he advised me to get a can of Raid before I got there as all the druggies and low life's stayed there. We were glad to find him badly misinformed! The place is no Ritz, the carpets...

This place was so bizzare. The lights only worked sometimes, the toilet looked and sounded like it was made for a construction worker, and the lights would turn on in the middle of the night. I dont know if its haunted or they have an electrical problem... It is in a convenient location. Thats it. Staff was not very pleasant.

We booked a superior room on the hotel website for $110/night. We read all the reviews and knew we were taking a risk. But, it was worth it. Yes, the place is old. But they are slowly remodeling. While we were there, they were replacing carpets in the rooms. We were on 4th floor and had ocean views. Stayed 5...

This hotel is in a phenomenal location considering its cost compared to the big hotel chains. It is right in the middle of the Kona shopping area. There is a parking lot patrolled by security for only $5 per night. There is a free lot bedside it but that is first come, first served. The hotel lot is visible from...

We arrived on a late flight to Hawaii. I had booked ahead for one night before our Airbnb was available. It is very obvious nothing has been done for a long time to keep this property updated or even minimally cared for. Disgusting bathroom and room. Did not want to walk on carpet without shoes and cleanliness is obviously not...

My husband and I stayed one night at Uncle Billy's on our late night arrival on the Big Island. Although near the airport to suit our purposes, we found the location noisy and the room lacking in cleanliness and modern updating. At just over $100 per night it was an acceptable single-night option that included breakfast. The breakfast was an...

This hotel is centrally located right on the main drag (Ali'i Drive). You can walk to pier, shops, bars, restaurants, beaches, etc, which is nice, because this area is crowded, so being able to not have to drive is great. Staff is very nice. This hotel has four floors and a lot of rooms on each floor. We stayed on...

Yes, this hotel is old. But it's also in a great location within 2 or 3 blocks of the Kona Bay Pier (where the Iron Man Triathlon starts and ends), plus the oldest church in the islands, and the spot where the missionaries landed, and a "royal palace", and restaurants and shops. The free breakfast was just the basics. Overall,...

The front desk people were very friendly, and did absolutely nothing to improve my stay. My room (pre-paid) was changed to a studio with a small bed not suitable for two people. When I requested instead to get the room I'd reserved, I was given a room which had not been cleaned thoroughly. In the dresser were several new and...

This hotel has had some bad press! Yes it is old but it has history and is not perfect. Billy the owner who has passed was a mover and shaker on this Island, It is family owned I like that! The room was cleaned everyday, the bed was very comfortable, the sheets were soft, the bath was fine. The staff...
