Detailed Reviews
It's not often that I stay in hotels that exceed my expectations and this one certainly did that for many reasons:
Food
The quality of the food at the buffet both for breakfast and dinner was excellent. There was a wide range of dishes on offer that varied each day including grilled squid, octopus, steak, grilled tuna, monkfish, beer battered shark, chicken casserole, 2 different soups, a salad bar, cold meats, cheese, fruit, cake selection. It was difficult to hold back as I wanted to try everything. It was all fresh and being replenished regularly so no need get in the restaurant early.
Pools
They have an outdoor pool right on the beach with a great view and an indoor heated pool. Plenty of room to lounge about.
Room
I had a standard double which was fairly large with plenty of space to relax and storage for my luggage. It was modern and spotlessly clean. It had a view of the beach.
Location
Right on the beach near the town centre. Not in a noisy area so I could get a peaceful sleep each night.
Staff
All were very professional, friendly and willing to help with any questions I had.
Spa
They have 2 saunas and 2 jacuzzis in the adjacent hotel which I used every day. These were of good quality and the view from the jacuzzi over the beach during sunset was something to remember.
I really can't fault my stay and wanted to extend my visit but unfortunately return flights were too expensive. I highly recommend this hotel, for the price I paid it's one of the best I've stayed in and deserves a 4 star rating instead of 3.

We have a great time in this wonderfull hotel. Value for money is more than great here. Rooms are very clean, stuff in restoran and kitchen are so positive and helfpful they make you feel like home. We have a child who is so picky for food and this great woman main chef here always make him something if he can't find anything for him on served menu. Great pool, beach just five steps away and great Lavander bar for relax time.

We stayed a couple of days in Hotel Adriatic with a big group. The rooms were good, but somewhat impractical. For example music is played on the corridors, even in the evening and that music can be heard in the hotelroom. The wall outlets are placed on unhandy locations. One of them didn't work so I had to remove the power plug of my bedside lamp to charge my telephone. For both of the outlets I had to go trough my knees deeply to reach them. The swimming pool is nice, but it was an ice bath :) The breakfast was very good, some very tasteful local pastries and enough choice. The location of the hotel is a plus because it's next to the sea and it's just a small stroll to the city centre and it's marina. All in all a good experience. If they improve some things, things only get better!

I debated writing this review, as it puts a dampener on our holiday, but in truth that’s exactly what our first impression did...it put a massive downer on our holiday. Good point The hotel is part of a chain of 3, all next to eachother in Biograd. I booked via email, first enquiring about 1 of their other hotels, but as it was more expensive than our Greece hotel (covid last min change) I enquired to the other options and ended up booking the Adriatic (remember this point for later). We booked our transfers through the hotel, great service. Arrived, checked in and went to our room. We had booked a ‘superior’ room. Well what we were greeted with was far from any superior I have ever known. A socket hanging off the wall, broken curtain, dirty tables (dust build up that hadn’t been cleaned for weeks never mind days), suncream stained sheets, blood stained and holey pillows. Long story short my partner asked for the manager, to be first addressed with ‘we know you wanted to stay in the other hotel’ as if we were pulling a fast one to get moved!! How insulting. Reluctantly she visited our room, to then give the explanation that ‘sh*t happens’ well it shouldn’t really when you are paying for a service. ‘It was the only room available, she couldn’t build us a new one and if we still weren’t happy then she would issue a refund’. Basically get on it with it or your out on your ear. She made it known that they held all the cards. We got a complementary lunch whilst they rectified the room, not before having to point out the faeces on the toilet seat to the cleaner. No-one contacted us until a day later. We had since found a full bin under the table, 1 lamp not working nor the balcony light, by this point we were over it and just wanted to make the most of our holiday. Is this is a nice 3 star hotel if clean and in working order? Yes. Was the manager rude and presumptive about our intentions? Yes. Would we return? Absolutely not. Not sure if this is a one-off, but besides the faults we have never experienced such poor initial customer service. Covid is no excuse. To add; the resort is also awful, pitched up next to massive campsite with people sunbathing all over the concrete paths. Avoid at all costs!

From the moment of arrival at the hotel, the experience with the staff was unsatisfactory; they lacked professionalism, struggled to provide the necessary information, and appeared poorly coordinated. The rooms are clean but outdated.
There was plenty of food but the selection was very basic and the dishes were poorly prepared.

We had a beautiful room overlooking the sea. A fantastic place to relax, both for couples and families with children. Two swimming pools, delicious food and a relaxation area practically connected to the promenade. Great place for a holiday near Zadar ;)

I was told about this hotel by a friend of mine last year. I have holidayed and travelled the length and breadth of Croatia over the last 10 years and it is very rare to encounter the kind of customer service that satisfies the average western European holidaymaker. At the Adriatic, they seem to be focused on raising the level of customer service offered in Croatia.
The hotel itself looks very well designed and not like the average 3 star hotel, but more like a good 4-5 star!
The rooms are clean, well designed and functional and for the price and size, very good value. The food offered impressed, the usual over-cook, dried food was off the menu and fresh, hot nutritional food was on offer. The staff actually seem to like working in the hotel, they seem happy to chat about the entertainment on offer in and around Biograd.
My daughter absolutely loved the staff working in the children’s play area. There were toys, activities and some great staff to keep the children entertained. The swimming pool looks like the kind of pool you find in a 5 star hotel, with jets, massage beds and a view of the ocean. Just 100m from the hotel is a water park and a beach, where my daughter spent a good 5 hours playing with other children and asking for ice cream every 5 minutes.
The Lavender Bar also impressed. With large beds to lie around on while watching the sun set over the islands, the perfect end to a very fun day.
This place is great for families. My daughter had a whale of a time and I had time to relax and enjoy the pool and wellness centre located on the top floor of the Iliria hotel, just next door.
I give this hotel a five star rating for value for money and customer service. I have already booked a week in the hotel for next year!

Stayed at the Adriatic in October this year. A very comfortable hotel with fully renovated rooms. Excellent bathroom. Stunning views onto the sea and nearby islands. Restaurant area very clean and pleasantly decorated. Staff most helpful. Overall and excellent place to stay for more than just a few days as there are nearby attractions to go and visit and than return to this hotel for a pleasant stay in a small resort township. Strongly recommneded.

After reading such lines as...
"The Hotel Adriatic is the first true designer hotel on the Croatian coast" on the booking.com website
"Located in a pine forest on the beach" and
" Stylish design hotel inspired by the ancient Adriatic herb lavender and comfortable life of the ancient Romans" from the hotel's own website
"Elegant hotel on the Adriatic coast, recently renovated, with spectacular views of the islands from each of the elegant and well-furnished rooms. The decorations complimented the other innovative services and amenities of the Adriatic" Maplandia.com.
These flattering reviews plus many references to this three star hotel as a four star and very skillful photography which makes the small, above ground swimming pool which has barely room for a couple of sunloungers and is next to a prominade appear like a huge Hollywood style pool estending directly to the sea, fooled me into booking a room.
On entering the hotel we were overwhelmed by a smell that reminded me of a hospital.
The receptionists were welcoming and attentive though did have our booking wrong and after getting out three seperate keys finally decided on one - a sea view balcony as requested.
So up we went in a very old fashioned tiny juddering lift - if only we had known the lift was a treat compared to the room which was tiny, dark and stinky with no windows!
In fairness I think the smell might have been over generous use of mosquito repellent - as not a actually mosquito myself, I also found it to be every bit as repellent as I am sure they do!
The sea view was actually a side sea view and the balcony was more like a ledge - which would be most welcome for hurling yourself from should you be forced to stay in this tiny dark room for any length of time. There was a small door whith shutters over it that led to the "ledge" which provided the only light as there were not windows or indeed sliding glass door as is often found in hotel rooms with balconies.
We were horrified and ran next door to be transfered to the only 4 star hotel of the Ilirija Group in Biograd - the Hotel Ilirija which I will review seperately.
What it is hard to grasp from the websites in general is that there are three Ilirija hotel group hotels on the same peice of property in Biograd all facing a prominade directly on the sea and close to the centre of Biograd.
The Adriatic (painted almost exclusively in a most billious shade of Magenta) is on the left, picturesquely situated next to a deralict building, next is the Hotel Ilirija ( which is a great improvement on its sister hotel) and then the 3 star Hotel Konati which looked better on the outside at last than the Adriatic hotel ... though that would not be hard!
It is difficult to be fair to a hotel when you have been led to believe through seeing it advertised as a 4 star, when it is in fact a three star.
Beguiled by misleading photos of a huge pool which is only seperated from the sea by some stylish, strategically placed trees (which, by the way are shrivelled effigies of their photographic selves)...
...and most of all taken in by some chat about being a designer hotel not to mention the outright lie on the hotel's own website of being set in a pine forest - it is set in a car park between another hotel and a derelict building!
Why not be honest - its a three star hotel, it has a small pool, it does have great sea-side location but it is not luxurious, not designer, not boutique and claiming to be all these things only means that disappointed guest after disappointed guest will check in feeling they have been misled taken for a fool.
The Adriatic Hotel is not cheap either - and you even have to pay for parking. I cannot say what the food was like as we checked out about 5 minutes after checking in but I have to say the food at the Hotel Ilirija was very nice, though not terribly exciting.
Also the Mediterranian Style Bed Bar that the websites go on about is quite nice with sea views but is open to passers by as well as guests and those staying at the sister hotels can charge drinks to their rooms. FYI cocktails quite tasty but a little too weak for my tastes.
I would never advise anyone to stay here as I am sure you can get better value for money elsewhere as well as rooms which are a decent size, even if the rest of the hotel is to your liking.
Personally I have never felt so let down ever by a hotel, but at least they did the decent thing and arranged for us to have a pleseant stay in the Hotel Ilirija next doors whose rooms are sunny, bright and while not huge are of an acceptable size with bigger balconies, bigger, better bathrooms (with bath unlike the Adriatic) and the whole hotel has a much more pleasant light., bright and glossy atmosphere unlike the oppressive dark purple tones of the Adriatic Hotel.
My advice to the Hotel Adriatic - be fair, be realistic - call a spade a spade, and try lowering your room rates accordingly.
My advise to would be guests - be sure you really know what the hotel is like beyond the wildly flattering PR spiel and pics and be sure you pay a fair price for it - or keep looking ... I'm sure you can do better!

Liliane J asked a question May 2016
Saint Saturnin les Avignon, France6 contributions15 helpful votesBonjour, A combien de minute de marche se trouve le village ?
Y-a-t-il u bas de l'hotel au village.?
Peut-in louer une voiture à l'hotel ?
