Hi Elaine, It was very snowy when we arrived on the 8th and still as snowy when we left on the 13th, we arrived to fresh snow and it was so beautiful. The first day it snowed all day but the rest of the week was sunshine and dry but cold.
Most of the passengers on the coach had snow boots or walking boots, some had wellies, although all the towns we visited except Hallstatt had the paths cleared. If you go with jon and malcolm they might take you sledging and then you will need them and possibly waterproof trousers. I would reccommend lots of layers, I took a thick waterproof winter coat but was still quite cold on the first day when we visited Hallstatt and Bad ischl but it was snowing at the time.
Everyone seemed to be smart but casual in the evening, nothing too fancy I think only one lady wore a dress, but most people changed for dinner. Hotel is nice and warm! There was a lot of snow but not sure if it has melted though.
Have a great time I wish I was going back with you, it was my favourite Shearings trip yet.
