We were hiking with a group and stayed 2 nights in the cabins. The room was cold and the heater didn't work. The bathroom was small and situated so one couldn't stand between the toilet and the sink. The shower barely fit one. While we are hikers, the walk up the hill for meals was a chore, ESP after hiking...

My daughter and I stayed at the Sylvan Lake Lodge for one night. We stayed in the cabins and not the lodge. While the cabins were older, they were cozy and quaint and just a short walk to the lodge for dinner. The mile or so walk around Sylvan Lake was enjoyable and got a chance to the see the...

My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins on the property. The lodge itself has a beautiful lobby with a nice outdoor patio. There is a nice restaurant, but it is pricey. The cabins themselves are adequate at best. We started with a very small cabin that had a bathroom so small that the sink was turned sideways...

We chose this lodge because it was close to both Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorials. The drive up the mountain was a little scary, don't do this at night. But once we were there everything was great. The room was comfortable and the people were great. We ate at the lodge restaurant both nights we were there. The Black...

Loved this lodge! Our room was in the newer section so very updated and new. Very clean and comfortable. Beds are definitely on the soft side. We had the very end room. View is obstructed by trees and the noise from the stairs and doors is quite loud. However, it was always quiet by nine so we slept well. The...

The housekeeping cabin at Sylvan Lake Lodge was pretty good, but, needs a few tweaks. The beds are saggy and old so I got a backache after 3 nights. Thank goodness we left then to the State Game Lodge. It is a very cute cabin, however, there was a wedding going on and the attendants were in the cabin next...

I also posted a review of the restaurant under the Sylvan Lake page so just a quick recap. Not busy during the week in June, so very prompt service and friendly. Surprisingly affordable, $12 for the pork loin with potatoes and veg. There are tables outdoor too but not a view of the lake, just of trees. No idea what...

This lodge is very nice, but very difficult to get to. We went through tunnels that were so small, we had to fold in the mirrors on our pick-up truck. Our room was nice, but the carpet was wet under the window, don't know if the previous guests had left windows open during a rain, or if this was from...

Clean, newly renovated rooms. (New wing features larger rooms.) Extra large bath towels. Close to Sylvan Lake with kayaks, paddle boats, canoes, and bicycle boats available for rental. Scenic location among the trees overlooking beautiful Sylvan Lake.

We were having a girl trip and wanted to see S. D. Plus do some hiking and eat locally. The lodge was perfect because it was on the mountain and had lots of trees and lake close by. The staff were awesome (Josh, John, Clara) and rooms very nice plus clean! We came between seasons so it was very quiet....
