Incredible scenery, sleeping cabins are just that-for sleeping and not much else. Cabin was clean with daily service. Nice area outside cabin for coffee or evening snack. Make sure you do the iron mountain drive to Mt Rushmore and the Needles Highway drive to Sylvan Lake

I'm a park employee and had the chance to stop by and eat at the newly built Legion Lake Lodge. It's fast casual dining, unlike the other lodges in the park. The line was fairly long when I arrived plus they were running only one POS. It looked like there were two, but I'm not for certain. However, I was...

We stayed here in July 2016 with our 2 small children in a 2 room cabin overlooking the lake. Our cabin was new and very comfortable. Nice separate bedroom for the children. Full bathroom including tub. Nice touches like animal quilts on the bed. Our deck overlooked the beautiful lake. We loved swimming in the picturesque lake and kids loved...

As anywhere there are pros and cons. Pros: 1. Well located in Custer State park, easy drive to Mt Rushmore, Jewel and Wind caves, Crazy Horse Memorial 2. Wonderful cabin for close family time 3. Well provided kitchen, pots, pans, tableware,etc... 4. Plenty of outdoor and lake activities, paddle boats, canoes, nice easy hiking trail around the lake 5. Comfortable...

We ate in the new facility at Legion Lake. I understand the goal was to serve more fast food. The menu is more extensive than I had imagined, similar to their old menu. But I found it to be expensive at $35.00 for a salad and one chicken dinner. The food was all served in or on plastic. The food...

I called and tried to cancel my May reservation within 15 days of arrival and asked if it was possible, as it is the off season to get my deposit back and I was told no (I understand this completely - this is their policy and I am in the wrong here). As a part of their policy you can...

Saw a vacancy sign and inquired in mid Sept. We were lucky enough to get one of the Housekeeping cabins that sleeps 5. There was just the 2 of us. We so loved this place. Secluded off the roadway and other cabins close by but we had our "space". Picnic table and fire pit outside. Can purchase firewood at lodge....

The cabin was a very nice cabin. It was clean and had everything we needed for our family of four, including two sleeping areas. It was quiet and ours overlooked the lake. There was a trail around the lake and the restaurant was within walking distance.

We stayed 2 nights in a cabin at Legion Lake Lodge while on vacation in SD. Custer State Park is lovely, and nearby are Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse memorial, Mammoth Site, Wind Cave NP, and Jewel Cave, so lots to do. Our cabin had 2 double beds, both of which were not very comfortable (very soft, so that you wake...

Custer state park is an absolute gem. I always compare it to yellowstone, but without the crowds. A stay at legion lake takes you right into the middle of the park. There is a lake for swimming. The cabins are well equiped and rustic. There are firepits the kids will love. The restaurant has basic fare. Perfect for a family...
