This was our second visit to Gucumatz, although our first actual stay, and much had changed, all very much for the better, in the meanwhile. What had not changed though was the wonderfully warm welcome extended to us by Moya and her strapping lads; even more enthusiastic and enterprising than previously, the family could not have been more hospitable and...

My fiancé and I stayed here for a couple nights in early July and it was by far the most amazing place we stayed during our trip to Guatemala. We took a boat across the lake from Flores to get there which was a fun way to arrive. Moya is an absolutely wonderful hostess and she cooks the most delicious...

This B&B was one of the absolute highlights of my week and a half trip to Belize and Guatemala. The dusty local road gives way to lushly maintained grounds with beautiful trees and flowers throughout. The many views of and sitting places along the lake are a feature that is worth visiting this location on their own. The common areas...

Our first post on Trip Advisor. We are a couple in our early 30's, came from Belize and were on our way to Tikal. Found only through word-of -mouth, we had planned to "stop off" for a maximum of 1 night but loved this place so much we stayed 4 and wanted to tell the world about this really hidden...

We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Gucumatz. It was a home from home! The setting is stunning and swimming in the lake is gorgeous, especially in the heat of April. Moya was really very kind and went out of her way to get us to the destinations we wanted to see. There is plenty to do- we went...

If your are planning to visit Tikal, we encourage you to stay with Moya. Gucamatz was the end of our trip after we spent a few days at Tikal. In retrospect we would have chosen to stay with Moya the entire time in the Peten. The boats, hammocks and hanging beds on the lake, fabulous home cooking, are just a...

Gucumatz Lakeside Inn was my first stop in Guatemala, principally for a quiet location near Tikal and its stunning Mayan temples. It was like stepping into a fresh corner of paradise that somehow also felt like home! On the other side of the lake from the more fashionable Flores, the lakeside location is idyllic and the water always so inviting...

The saying "saving the best for last" IS true! We were supposed to stay at Gucumatz at the beginning of our road-trip from Guatemala to Belize as it is situated rather close to the border, but unfortunately, due to issues out of our control we were forced to forego the night in the hotel and do an overnight drive. Well,...

We were well looked after by Moya and her son at this lakeside inn. The rooms are basic but the setting and lake access are great. The inn is a 35-40 minute drive from El Remate so having your own transport would be an advantage. We really appreciated the care Moya took to give us opportunities to experience everything the...

We stayed at Gucumatz for three nights after visiting Tikal. It was a bit of a gamble as there weren't a lot of reviews on TripAdvisor relatively to other places in the Flores area, but we were EXTREMELY happy for choosing it! Lake Peten is incredible and the place allows you to experience it to the fullest - whether it...

“We had room number 1 on the ground floor that overlooked the lake and the outdoor dining area. The place is quiet other than the odd passing bus or car so noise is not an issue. Windows are flyscreens which was very pleasant allowing the breeze to come in. Our room was basic but met our needs - the rooms don't have bar fridges, TV's or tea and coffee making facilities however tea and coffee is always available to take to your room free of charge and fresh water is left in the room every day when the room is serviced.”
