Probably the priciest hostel I’ve stayed at when traveling in Guatemala. They were not prepared for our group at all; four guys in a small room with 1 small bathroom is pretty tight in any country. Food was good though.

The room was nice and the view was great. The grounds were excellent. Right down the street from the fort which was great to walk there. Wifi is ok. Pool was gross, it was not being filtered and was worse the next morning, only bad thing about the place. The food was good and the beer was cold. There is...

Stayed here for a night in Dec 2015. In my opinion, this is a hotel and not a B&B. The restaurant has a view of Lago de Izabal. We drove to this place, about 2.5 miles from the Guate- Peten road. There is free parking. The restaurant serves great food: we tried the 'mojarra frita' (fried fish, traditional in the...

We spent a couple of nights here this week during one of the most expensive times to stay anywhere in Guatemala. It was much cheaper (1/3rd) then it's closest rival Banana Palms with rooms very similar (we saw both) but I was slightly horrified to pay so much for such a basic room but then it's my fault for holidaying...

We had a bedroom with 2 pretty comfortable beds but INCREDIBLY thin walls. I was woken up at 4 am by a boisterous party that was mostly just talking next door, but they sounded like they were in our room. We had a private bath, mostly hot water. The pool is gorgeous, and the location is right on the lake,...

One thing you are going to need if you visit rio Dulce and the Castilllo de San Felipe in Izabal is quiet in your room. This hotel is in the town of San Felipe just a block away from the Castillo de San Felipe. The hotel needs more signage around town to make it easier to find. The hotel has...

I returned again with my team for another week's stay and had another great time. We had been 2 years ago and loved it so much that we wanted to return. We were not disappointed! They have added a cabana area for the front desk and nice couches to get wi-fi access. Breakfast and dinner were great every day. The...

A relatively inexpensive hotel that gives a lot for a little. My single room, basic but pleasant, was 160Q, doubles higher of course. There is a restaurant with good food, especially fish/seafood. The location overlooks the Lake and is easy to find if you know it is right next door to the entrance to the Castillo, but the roads are...

The hotel is very clean and the food in the restaurant was delicious. I found the bed comfortable and the shower was warm. One thing I wish I had done was talk to the staff before I went to sleep about the A/C. They have A/C control and it was set way low and I didn't wake up to turn...

First the bad. There was no hot water in my room. Specifically there was no hot water pipe leading into the sink. None. The beds have very thin mattresses, and the thinnest sheets I hae ever seen. Having said that, I will stay there the next time I go to Rio Dulce because the total experience is so good. The...
