This comfortable place strikes a nice balance between cruddier lodgings and the rather out of place high-end resorts in the area. It is inexpensive, safe, well-run and feels in context with northeast Guatemala. Staying on the north shore of the lake is a quieter, more beautiful experience than being in bustling Flores. The Posada has a beautiful view of the...

Pros: + Very comfortable and big rooms + Competent and kind staff + Great location, just by the lake + Tasty food + Pleasant common areas Cons: - Slightly isolated, difficult to find a restaurant nearby - Public transportation to the lodge is unreliable (not their fault though)

This place is just great. Wonderful, simply designed, but beautiful rooms. A setting amid the tree tops above an idyllic lake, and with a young family of howler monkeys. And beautiful birds. (all wildlife enthusiastically and brilliantly described by Santos.) great food. Helpful and warm hosts. And a price you can't beat. The best place we stayed when travelling Guatemala...

Great place to stay, great view, you can swim in the lake, you sleep practically in the jungle, nice food. Staff knows everything about you, even if you didnt tell this person. Example, i had some stomach issues, and even though the waiters were rotating, they were aware of it and cooked specially for me without asking. They knew where...

The gem of tranquility at El Remate. Our bedroom overlooking the lake with terrace and hammack was just what we needed after a long travel by bus from Semuc Champey. The food prepared most of the time by Mayra was fresh and tasty at a very reasonable price with lots of vegetarian option. They make their own yogourt, excellent bread...

Really loved this place. Very relaxing. We crossed border from Belize in a collectivo, then walked to El Remate and took a tuk-tuk the rest of the way. After the long journey, was happy to have a peaceful place to hang out. My best friend and I enjoyed relaxing in the common area and then watched the sunset from the...

When we came up to reception to check in, we were greeted with a nice cool glass of limonada. Just what we needed after pyramid climbing and then walking up the steps to the hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly and very nice. Willie, the manager is the greatest and will help you in any way he can. You just...

We stayed for a couple of night here and were very pleasantly surprised! The rooms are bright and clean, and we had a great spot right outside with chairs and a hammock to relax. The grounds are beautiful, with a lovely stone walking path that leads up to the main open lobby/kitchen and throughout the grounds/lodging. At night, it is...

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Posada Del Cerro in January, 2016. It was a wonderful break after visiting Antigua. Very calm and relaxing, with a beautiful setting. Close enough to Tikal to set up easy transport, as well as the Belize boarder. The food prepared nightly was delicious, and the access to both the lake and a...

We used this as our base for a visit to Tikal. It is much closer than Flores, without feeling stuck on site as it seemed we would be staying at one of the Tikal hotels. Some of the rooms overlook the gorgeous lake, but don't have screened windows (they do have beautiful mosquito netting). Our room was smaller but did...
