The staffs are really helpful, and they helped me out a lot with booking trips/ tuk tuk etc. They speak good English if you do not speak Spanish. The room is really nice, toilet is clean. 1 min walk to the lake, 20 mins walk to El Remate but you could take a tuk tuk. It feels like living in peace and there are even monkeys around the place. It is a great place to relax and stay as a gateway to Flores, Yaxha and Tikal.
We got the room you see on the photo on the header - open air and net over the bed, romantic and very nice. Staff was super friendly and nice. Great open area/restaurant where the travellers met and had breakfast/dinner. We had the posada as our base exploring Tikal and Yaxha, and the staff help to book transport and guides. Highly recommend this place!
Posada del Cerro is a rare gem. It's tucked away discretely on a bluff above glittering Lake Peten Itza in El Remate, Guatemala. Howler monkeys haunt the treetops and roar out their challenges, raucous parrots wing overhead, lizards sun themselves in the morning. They call themselves a Hostal but it's a little nicer than that. The staff is excellent and friendly and ready to help with any needs, questions, or to make arrangements for travel etc.. Also, a number of the staff have excellent English. There is a nice dining/lounge area and they serve meals, snacks, and beverages from early morning to late night. Some activities we enjoyed while staying here were the hiking in Cerro Cahui ( immediately adjacent to the Posada), swimming in Lake Penten Itza (at the foot of the bluff and crystal clear), seeing the sights in Flores at the other end of the (very large) lake, horse trekking in the nearby countryside, and visiting nearby Maya archaeological sites. One caution, it's a steep climb up from the road to reach the lodgings, you need to be able bodied.…
Such a unique hotel, so calm, quite and peaceful place surrounded by pure nature, but clean and very friendly and tasty. We spent two nights there hearing howling monkeys at the dawn 😊 We were terrified first because there were no glass on our window, only a net, but there were no mosquitos or other insects, it was not hot or cold during the night, it was surprisingly perfect, like sleeping under the trees but safety 😉 We definitely will return there. Thank you very much for your hospitality 😘
Excellent hotel, peaceful, clean and comfortable rooms. Staff is very nice. Perfect location on the way to Tikal from Flores. MUST SEE: Have Santos, one of the staff member, do a tour of the property with you. He has worked from a young age in the forest and knows absolutely everything about birds, trees, fruits, seeds, plants in general and insects, and is very good at spotting them (even a tarantula living on the property, don't worry, risk-free). There is so much to see already at the property and he can even take you on a tour in the Cerro Cahui nearby. I strongly recommend asking to do this tour!! Although he speaks only Spanish I believe.
