This is the 3rd time I stayed at the St James and highly recommend staying there when visiting New Orleans. The service is friendly and competent, and the location is perfect. The recent renovation of this old Southern mansion provides wonderful rooms and public spaces.

We stayed two nights at St James and it was very enjoyable. The bed is very comfortable and breakfast is awesome. The staff was helpful and friendly, the atmosphere in the courtyard was very peaceful. My room was furnished beautifully and had connecting doors to the pool. I will be staying here again as it far surpassed others in New...

Excellent service and old world charm. Don't forget to see the pool. Try Bon Ton restaurant across the street. We stayed for my daughter's wedding and I had booked 5 rooms of various sizes. The staff outdid themselves and were very pleasant. There is no restaurant and only continental breakfast but also nearby alternatives (Mothers) Ruby Slipper. Great location on...

The room was small with no windows. Bed was squeaky and sheets had a lot of hair. The staff, however, was amazing! Breakfast experience was nice as well. Would go back to this hotel simply because of how great the staff was.

The St. James was a perfectly acceptable hotel. A few blocks from the French Quarter, on the other side of Canal Street, it has plenty of character and is walking distance to the Quarter and to the World War 2 Museum (in the other direction). Check in was efficient, and the staff is delightful. My room was on the fourth...

We went here on a four day vacation get away and found the St. James to be right in the heart of everything we wanted to see and do. For convenience and being able to walk to everywhere you want to be you can not beat this place as it is in the middle or close to everything anyone would...

Our stay was wonderful. The staff were courteous and very helpful with suggestions and directions to different attractions. The rooms were small but very clean and cute. Historic like feel to the hotel. Great location to the French Quarter. Would definitely come back

Used this hotel for second time in a row. They accommodated our room wish, were friendly and the place is quite despite being close to Canal Street. We did enjoy the room service breakfast that was included in the rate.

Lovely historic hotel. clean , quiet, good size room. friendly staff. would be 5 stars if there were downy type pillows and if the water was a little hotter. love the location , only a few blocks in any direction to good food, shopping, street cars, etc.

We had high hopes as the lobby is lovely and the staff very friendly. Our room was extremely musty. It became apparent that there is a huge water issue when rain started pouring through the sill, into the ceiling and down into the bedroom. We evacuated to another room that smelled even more musty and had a water damaged strip...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
