The staff at the St. Charles Guest House are absolutely warm, kind, and welcoming. I stayed there for a week with a large volunteer group. There is room to store food, eat, hang out, have meetings, etc. It is conveniently located in the Garden District. Rooms were air conditioned, there's a pool, and they serve breakfast as well. Great place...

I have nothing but good things to say about the St. Charles Guest House. I travelled with a group of volunteers, and we stayed at the St. Charles for the week we were in NOLA. The staff was warm, welcoming, and extremely accommodating. The guest house itself was comfortable and charming-- filled with unique furniture, artwork, and photos that embody...

I stayed at the St. Charles Guest House and loved it. Everyone, from the front desk, to the individuals who helped prepare the breakfast area, were very friendly and helpful. I was touring with a large group doing mission work in the area. The staff were so nice, they even threw us a watermelon party just before we left. They...

As the leader of a large volunteer group in New Orleans for the week, the Guest House was perfect for us! We had plenty of space to spread out (there were over 25 of us) and also plenty of space to meet when we needed to get together for discussions and such. Dennis the owner and his staff were absolutely...

This is the perfect place for travelers living their own experiences rather than living them wrapped in plastic (think Holiday Inn, Marriott, any chain hotel). Cozy, affordable, funky, charming, affordable, great staff, great vibes, and did I mention affordable? This is not a place for soccer moms who put their children on leashes and Febreeze the family pet. Anyone interested...

I had found this place last minute but ever since I had been there in 2003 I would go no where else. It's classy and classic. It's simple living, not new age, it's over 100 years old, and it happens to be haunted as I found out one night in 2004, weird but funny. Very comfortable and the owner is...

I have stayed at the St. Charles Guest House 3 times now and enjoyed my stay every time. I think the Guest House's best assets are the price and location. The prices are very reasonable and it is just 1 block off of St. Charles Ave and pretty much central to all types of great New Orleans experiences. You don't...

We paid in cash and had to demand our money back after seeing our rooms. The rooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned since 1992. There were stains everywhere. On the towels. On the wallpaper. On the sheets. On the carpet. On the tablecloth. You couldn't relax in the rooms. The place has so much potential because of the location...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
