We stayed at the Lamothe House in April 2017 for 4 nights. We had a courtyard room back by the pool. It was quiet and immaculate. The front desk staff was courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. Please note that the registration area is on the 2nd floor with very winding stairs, so not the best for anyone with mobility issues....

My wife and I were extremely happy with the Lamothe House. Alex was amazing in every way. She made us feel at home immediately, and went out of her way to give us the keys to her city. By the end of the trip she was a friend, and the Lamothe House became our go-to hotel for future visits to...

I would only recommend staying at this hotel if you like the following: Hotel rooms without a window; staying at a hotel where your room is in another building a block behind the actual hotel; being told to drag your own luggage down narrow, steep stairs, though a courtyard, past an outbuilding, through a gate, across a road, down a...

We he loved staying in this historic hotel in Marigny! We stayed in room 101 a grand suite with two double beds which were very comfortable! The room was well appointed and very large- a nice place to decompress after the craziness that happens in the French Quarter. We also loved the fact that we were close to the Bywater....

Location is great. Beds were nice. Furnishings were minimal -- only one chair for a two bedroom suite. Certainly not eco friendly with the styrofoam coffee cups, plastic water glasses and single serving style coffee maker. A few folding luggage racks were expected and would certainly have been a nice . Housekeeping was not terribly consistent. Sometimes we would get...

Overall, this has been our 5th time with the Lamothe House. Love the location, love the staff - very helpful. Was disappoointed that upon entering the first day, found food bags and dirty tissues under the bed. Would I stay here again, yes. Wish that the prices would be like there were before.

Favorite hotel! Love the pool! Staff is great! Wifi was weak. Stay here if you go to Frenchmen Street regularly. Best location for FQF and jazz fest ! Love the varying room size and design. Hot tub is nice but loud

This hotel is in a great location, close to everything, has a pool, and great rooms! It is on Esplanade, right in between the quarter and the marigny. Great places to eat within a few blocks. Right around the corner from Frenchman Street!

The location is the best of both worlds - right on the edge of the French Quarter for the tourist must dos and right by Frenchman St. for the best loval nightlife. The staff went above and beyond. Don't have a single negative thing to say. It's the only place I'll stay when there!

My husband and I stayed at the Lamothe House during our first time in New Orleans and if we came back, we'd probably stay here again! We stayed on the Esplanade property in the rooms behind the pool, and our room was clean and modernized. I loved that they had ceiling fans. Staff at the Lamothe House were extremely friendly,...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the ancient oaks of Esplanade Avenue, the ornate architectural detail of the past meets modern comfort and convenience in our restoration of the historic Lamothe House hotel. Featuring an elaborate courtyard accented by mature landscaping, a garden pond, and a refreshing pool, peace and relaxation are just steps away from the thrill the Crescent City has to offer. In addition to 30 guest rooms refinished in traditional style, five Grand Antique Suites have been preserved from the original 1839 construction of the home of Jean Lamothe, a wealthy sugar cane planter of French descent. Furnished with antique furniture & artwork, the detail and charm that exemplifies old New Orleans is accessible to today’s traveler. Not to be overlooked is the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood the Lamothe House calls home. Here visitors will find Frenchmen Street, often referred to as “the local’s Bourbon Street”, which features some of the best local music and cuisine found in the French Quarter.Whether it’s your first or your next visit to the Big Easy, find the authentic New Orleans experience you are searching for at the Lamothe House. ... more   less
