Within walking distance to the French Quarter but away from the tourists in a quiet, funky neighborhood. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, amazing breakfasts, and a friendly, fun, and welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to go back.

Of course it's a five. We'd give more if we could. We stayed at Maison de Macarty for 5 days towards the end of July and had a wonderful experience there. The hotel is located in a calm and beautiful are (Bywater) about 15 minutes away from the French Quarter through Crescent Park. There are also 2 buses from and...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in July. We have been to New Orleans many times and usually stay in the French Quarter or CBD, but were curious about the Bywater. Maison de Macarty had a special summer deal, so we rented the "pool house" cottage, which is located in the back of the property. The innkeeper,...

First of all, we didn't get to stay here, so my comments are limited to our lost deposit. Back in February we booked 2 nights here for end June, after reading the excellent reviews and paid a deposit by credit card of $169.37. 3 days before we were due to leave the UK (6th June) I was told I couldn't...

Credit card charges that are over 120 days old cannot be refunded back to the credit card. This is not our policy, but the policy of the credit card processors. This guest fell outside that 120 day window. I sent a check to the guest and a second check because she hadn't received the first. I was surprised to see...

We love the Maison de Macarty! We are frequent visitors to New Orleans and have enjoyed French Quarter luxury hotels and condo rentals throughout the Marigny Triangle and the Bywater neighborhoods. Comfortable, unpretentious, and relaxing while showing off a bit of southern grace and charm, the Maison de Macarty has the right 'vibe' for us. We have stayed here twice,...

The Maison de Macarty is beautiful/perfect in every way! We stayed in room #1 with the balcony and it was great. So many things to see and do in New Orleans, but more than once I asked my wife if we could just hang out in the room and sit on the balcony. There are great places to eat in...

My husband and I stayed at Maison de Macarty in April. We were in the master suite upstairs with our own private balcony, across the front of the house. It was incredible. The breakfasts were out of this world delicious! I wanted to bring the magnificent chef home with me, but no one would agree to it. :) Kirk was...

Stayed there for a wedding that was in town and had a great time. Beautiful room, cozy bed, great pool. Breakfast each day was fantastic and had the best shrimp and grits possibly in my life. Thanks for the stay and would love to come back!

The place is lovely, a really nice setting, beautiful pool. The breakfasts and cookies were outstanding! However, for this price, at this location, it should have better beds, not worn out lumpy ones. The a/c unit should be cleaned and not so moldy (I could see the huge buildup of dust & mold from the bed). The back/pool area should...

I know that´s not a cheap place, but it´s worth every penny! That´s a place you´ll always remember after staying some nights! The boys who run the place are simply the best hosts everyone would dream of! And the place is fantastic. It´s a real experience! And the location? Well, how about staying in a quiet place, away from the...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
