We chose the House of the Rising sun for our first stay in NOLA, to realise my man's dream : to play there for his birthday... We love animation but also quietness, if you're like us, do not hesitate : go to the house of the rising sun! At a ferry ride to the French Quarter, the house is situated...

December 2016 was my first real trip to New Orleans - it was fantastic. My friends and I spent two nights at the wonderful "House of the Rising Sun" B&B. The hosts, Kevin & Wendy, were amazing and now consider them friends. They were gracious and welcoming. The porch was my favorite "room" in the house - but it was...

Kevin, Wendy, and Boudin were the best hosts! My husband and I decided to elope at Algiers Courthouse. After reading multiple reviews on Trip Advisor we knew that House of the Rising Sun was exactly where we wanted to stay. We asked Kevin and Wendy if they'd be our witnesses and sign for us when we tied the knot. They...

We spent a wonderful two nights at this B&B, where we were treated like royalty, including a lovely toasted crumpet for breakfast! It was my brother and his friend's first trip to New Orleans, we were visiting with our cousin and partaking of the annual Algiers caroling stroll. We booked all three rooms at the B&B, so it was like...

My new wife and I went to New Orleans to get married, and we booked our honeymoon in Kevin's "Memphis Minnie" room. Right off the bat, Kevin made us feel welcome and comfortable. Every morning started with a fruit salad and granola breakfast, with good coffee, tea, and baked goods as well. We would take our time eating as Kevin...

Website very informative with all details needed before arrival. Good communication with Kevin the owner before our stay. Lovely home, felt as if I was staying with family. We stayed in the Memphis Minnie room, much more pretty than the pictures on the web. Our Bathroom was right next to our room located in a private hall. Each room has...

Been to New Orleans a few times but always missed out before on Algiers Point. It is a little oasis of calm, just a ferry ride from the bustle of the rest of the city; this B&B is a lovely base from which to experience it. Kevin, Wendy & Boudin are exemplary hosts: we had been there almost five minutes...

Grateful are we to experience this wonderful B & B located in a fanciful neighborhood adjacent to the captivating city of New Orleans. The House of the Rising Sun proved to be so much more than a base-camp as we set out on our 12 to 14 hour activity-filled days. Awakening to the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and recognizing...

What's not to like? Wendy and Kevin shared their lovely home with us. We had a beautiful comfortable room, the rest of house was beautifully decorated with lots of interesting pieces to admire! We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of using the ferry to the French quarter, just about 5 minutes walk from the b&b and another 5 minutes...

Staying in Algiers

Neighbourhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
