This bed and breakfast is located in a quaint neighborhood between the garden district and French quarter. It is only a block away from a Street Car stop and it is only a mile walk into the French quarter (if you have the physical ability to walk). It was a perfect location, we were able to go anywhere we wanted...

We had Room 12. It is not "New", but has all the character one could ask for. The Fairchild House is actually a few buildings within a gated area. We felt totally safe. Each patron receives a key which fits the gate and building. A separate key is for the actual room. Room 12 has a fireplace and a "wardrobe",...

When driving in to New Orleans, this is a very easy exit off the I10 then the 90. no need to drive once here, lots of bar's and restaurants close by & one small block from the Trolley that takes you all over town! "Older" accommodations, but that's typical in the area!

We loved taking the trolley all day on Saturday. $3 PP 24 Hrs. Cannot be beat. We were everywhere in the city. Loved the whole experience. The Art Park. Harrah's Casino. Bourbon St. All sorts of shopping and lots of jazz music. This particular B&B is charming. We had a suite on the 2nd floor with a balcony. Very cool....

Very nice establishment. Beatrice was very friendly and Ross met us, showed us everything and gave us our keys. Secured parking was a HUGE plus! Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the porches and courtyard. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, and the coffee provided in the room was very tasty. Two suggestions-a microwave in the room would have been...

As a frequent visitor to NOLA, I started getting tired of the fancy hotels at discounted prices. Looking for a place where I could come back, I came across the Fairchild Bed and Breakfast. Wonderful. Simply wonderful. This historic building, a short block away from the historic streetcar on St. Charles and in an area filled with restaurants and surrounded...

I have to admit I was a little hesitant of this hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the charm of the homes. It was only a block from the trolley and if I had been there just a few days before I would have seen the Mardi Gras parade go by! The only downfall was breakfast was from...

This place is amazing, and the staff are fantastic. It's right along the St. Charles trolley line, so you can easily access the French Quarter, Garden District, and Audubon Zoo. The staff are really nice and prepare a full-scale, all-you-can-eat breakfast every morning. They can even accommodate early breakfasts!

We stayed the weekend of Feb 18, 2017. Our first time for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. The Fairchild house was the perfect location just one block off the parade route on St. Charles Avenue. The room was clean and comfortable which was needed after a long day at the parades. Convenient to restaurants. The staff was friendly and always...

We stayed here last year, and enjoyed it, so we came back again on this trip. Nice old buildings - the plaque on the front gate says "Built Circa 1841". There are places to sit outside on the patio and porch, with many plants. Very leafy, and the Rhododendron and the Jasmine were just blooming while we were there. The...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
