We found the location to be perfect for exploring New Orleans. It's far enough from the French Quarter to be quiet enough to get some rest between outings. Beatrice was a welcoming host. A few caveats for the infrequent traveler. The B and B is an historic home, meaning it is not designed for easy access. There are plenty of... More

Not one of the nicer bed and breakfasts, but maybe it was just my room. This bed and breakfast is located on Prytania and I was in the first room on the bottom floor. For starters, this happened to be one of the few cold days of the season and there was zero heat on in the place. No heat... More

We stayed 2 nights in a deluxe room with 2 double beds. I found the staff to be very helpful (thanks Nicole!) and willing to assist with questions. The location is very convenient to the St. Charles trolly and you can be in the French Quarter in 8 minutes, or further into the Garden District in 2 minutes. There are... More

Staff was nice, breakfast area was nice, room and parts of the buildings in need of work. There was a hole in the wall near the window (softball sized) from water damage (did not appear to be new) and paint peeling around the house. Lights were so dim I could not work at the desk well with everything on. Tiny... More

Everything about this bed and breakfast other than the close proximity to the street car, was an absolute disappointment. From checking in in a musty, paint-peeling, makeshift office in a house next door, to a less than basic breakfast two houses down, everything continued to disappoint. The rooms were tired and grubby with peeling paint and bleach marked curtains. The... More

Fairchild House is actually multiple houses, side by side, on Prytania Street in the Garden District. Check-in was quick and efficient, and the clerk was happy to answer questions about interesting destinations within walking distance. My room was in the next building, first floor. It was small, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable, with nice linens and a... More

A nice B&B in a quiet street in the Garden District. Our room was clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was nice. They should really consider upgrading their TV's. House within a few minutes walk of an interesting graveyard, beautiful houses and the streetcar (trolley - only $3 for 24 hours). Travelling to and from airport is... More

Our room was pleasant and clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was good with a variety of breads, cereals, fruit, yogurt, ham and cheese, and very good coffee. Fairchild House is just a block and a half from the St. Charles streetcar line. We parked our car in the gated lot and took the streetcar or an Uber everywhere we wanted... More

We stayed for 2 days..the beds were comfortable..breakfast was good...the building was in need of some work..but clean. We were a short walk from the trolley..which made it very easy to get to the French Quarter..I wouldn't recommend driving to the French Quarter...IF you find a parking spot it is very expensive...overall this was a good place to stay...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
