I really loved staying at Blue60! It was close enough to walk to the Quarter, but just away enough to not be in the middle of everything. I also really liked being directly across from the Phoenix Bar. The property is gay owned, which I really like and always try to support. There were a few minor things - TV...

The room at Blue 60 was quite lovely. If you are a light sleeper however, you may want to look elsewhere. I truly wanted to like this place. The owner and manager were absolutely wonderful. But sleeping in the Front Porch room was like sleeping on the street with all the noise - and it is noisy. They were doing...

I'm really sorry to hear about your stay. The construcion was unexpected - the house had to have an emergency repair from a series of rainstorms. However, there is nothing I can do about street noise. The front two rooms face the street and I have done everything I can do reduce the noise, including adding insulation. Their are 3...

The king suite was decorated charmingly and had all kinds of amenities to make us comfortable. Joshua the owner was very friendly and helpful. It was a nice room for the price. Walking distance to the river and Jackson Square. Very close to the music scene on Frenchman. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the Blue60 guesthouse for a full week and have to say, what an extraordinary place to be. The owner Josh is super friendly and has a google map of all the right places to eat, enjoy music, walk, have nice drinks and party. But as a photographer he could also point out the nice places to go...

After a cruise from Montreal to New Orleans with on board luxury we were rather pleased that the big hotels in New Orleans were booked out so we used our phone app and discovered Blue 60 Guest House which is a charming old home converted into apartments. Having suffered some damage from a recent storm the two front apartments were...

I feel like I found a gem with this place! The room was clean and comfortable, had all the necessary accoutrements, and it's located smack in the middle of the best neighborhood in New Orleans. With quaint eateries, bars, and live music within blocks, and a brand-new streetcar line just steps away, Blue60 truly offers the best New Orleans experience!

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

“BOOK EARLY; with 'only' five guest rooms the property fills fast. Would have happily stayed longer, but the property was booked solid over the Labor Day Weekend.”
of 5 bubbles dblkco, 12 Sep 2016 | Read review
“We took this trip spur-of-the-moment so we actually had to move from one room to another, but we knew that when we made the reservation. (I didn't realize it was the weekend of Loyola University's graduation so that's the reason for the room change from Friday to Saturday. I was just very happy that Blue60 could accommodate us at all since it was a busy weekend!) So we stayed in the Porch Suite the first night and it was adorable. The decor is very artsy, eclectic, and funky. We love that. Microwave and a small fridge in the living room/dining area. The bath is off of the living room area so I would suggest that if you're traveling with friends to ask for the Porch Suite because that way the guests in the living room area aren't going through the bathroom to get to your room like they do in the River Suite where we stayed the second night. Back to the Porch Suite. We made such a quick trip that we didn't get to enjoy the cute porch area with the porch swing. It's so cute, secluded, and quiet even though Elysian Fields is a very busy street. I walked by myself to the Walgreen's and Gene's Po-Boy's very early in the morning and it was completely safe. One perk to being out that early in the morning is that the horse drawn carriages that you see in the French Quarter must be boarded somewhere near Blue60 because I got to see three of the carriages going down Elysian Fields to the Quarter early in the morning! Gene's Po-Boys on the corner might look a little rough, but they've been there a long time and the breakfast po-boys I got were delicious and very well priced. I recommend the breakfast po-boy and I hope to try their shrimp po-boy when we go back to Blue60 in March of next year. So we stayed in the Porch Suite the first night and then moved to the River Suite the next night. (One cool thing about these two suites is that they do have an adjoining room so if you have a big group you can reserve both and have room for a lot of people. The River Suite enters directly from the sidewalk out front. So you can sit and do some people watching. The River Suite's bathroom is located off of the bedroom area and the closing off between the bedroom area and the living room is just some pull out shutter doors. It was fine for us because the person traveling with us is like a daughter to us so it wasn't uncomfortable and we actually just left them open. The River Suite is better suited for families or people like us who are traveling with close friends. Beds in both rooms were very comfortable. I can also recommend Blue60 because they use unscented laundry detergent! I am allergic to anything scented so I usually have to carry bedding. I did bring bedding on this trip, but I didn't have to use mine. Everything was super clean! Our group also walked from Blue60 into the Quarter and felt very safe. I know Josh said his mother had walked to the Quarter by herself many times and nothing had ever happened. I know I would feel safe making that walk alone, too. (Protip: Walk southward on Elysian Fields and turn right onto Royal St. You'll cross Frenchman St. and see the funky, music venues in that area. Then continue on down Royal into the Quarter. Very cool walk with a lot of old houses that have been renovated and some that are in the process of being fixed.) Our group liked Josh and everyone at Blue60 so much that I think we might try to work in a Sumner trip to NOLA instead of waiting till next March to visit NOLA and Blue60 again. ”
