On my second, extended visit to New Orleans I returned to the Lions Inn and once again had peaceful sleep and a most relaxing time in excellent surroundings. Their accommodation is clean and comfortable, the breakfast is hearty and convivial with other guests and the standard of service from Floyd McLamb and his staff is very high. Rooms have all...

Everything about this B&B is lovely. The rooms (our group was in 1, A, B, and D) were cozy and comfortable. Room A, in particular, was much bigger then it appeared in the pictures on the website. The hosts were sweet and accommodating, the patio and pool area a welcome respite on the warm afternoons. I have nothing negative to...

Lion's Inn Bed & Breakfast provided clean functional lodging for part of my stay in New Orleans while attending the Tennessee Williams Festival. It was also very affordable in a city that CAN be very expensive. Floyd McLamb puts out a generous and healthy cold breakfast (plus coffee and tea) and is a very welcoming, relaxed and informed host. There's...

It was a great location. Wish we could've stayed longer and enjoyed the perks of a B&B. We have never been to one and we had a great time. We were able to make breakfastone morning and it was very nice. We were able to meet other guests and chat for a while. We unfortunatley never made the wine and...

Stayed in Room #3 (two twin beds) with my septuagenarian father. The room and bathroom (private, but across the hall) were adequate, the AC and fan worked well, and we enjoyed our visit. Only complaints: the shower soaps were ridiculously small and unusable, so we had to buy our own. Also, the armoire door didn't stay completely closed and would...

The Lion's Inn is in a great location. Walking distance to Frenchman, away from the nuttiness of the French Quarter. The property itself is lovely, especially the garden/pool area. Free use of bicycles is also a great perk. And Floyd is certainly one of a kind!!! My only complaint was that our room, which was very nice, was underneath another...

I wish we had stayed longer! Our schedule was packed, so we didn't get to indulge in the wine and cheese socials or enjoy the pool and hot tub. I recommend this B&B for the following reasons: - As noted, the wine and cheese receptions. This is just classy, and we're sad to have missed out. - Breakfast is self-serve,...

If you expect a Marriott or a Sheraton for less than $100 a room, forget it. This is a fantastic B&B with outdoor pool, breakfast, 5pm wine and cheese. All free. It's not in the French Quarter, thank goodness. Who'd want to try to sleep in the middle of that glorious madness? But it is only four blocks from Frenchmen...

My brother and I visited New Orleans just for fun, and the Lion's Inn was a great part of it. Our 2-bed room (Room C) was spacious, comfortable, and filled with character. The breakfast every morning was fine and the internet worked great. We didn't get a chance to swim in the pool or enjoy the hot tub due to...

First and most importantly, the B&B is not 5 blocks from the French Quarter. Perhaps the outer edge but you will be walking 13 blocks each way to the action. Secondly, one of the owners was very condescending when I inquired about taking a bus to the airport instead of a taxi. I explained that I am a budget traveler....

We welcomed this guest to our B&B with her dog, that was allowed to stay free, in her single $50.00 per night economy room. However, this is one of the few times that the "needs" of the guest outstripped our ability to satisfy them. We did have to step in when her constant talk of her dog and of herself...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
