What a fabulous way to get a taste of all that New Orleans has to offer. The quirky New Orleans decor of the spacious rooms, the warm welcome fro Matthew, and the friendly morning chats with both Melanie and Matthew every morning. Tasty and varied breakfast, locally sourced every day, reflecting the culinary history of New Orleans. The B and...

You spent five nights with us, which is a nice amount a time to get a taste of every part of New Orleans. Though we are a small city, we have all the big city amenities, and the culture here is woven thick and densely. There is never a dull moment in New Orleans and you'll never run out of...

As soon as you walk into La Belle Esplanade, you can tell it's something special. Each morning, Matthew and Melanie gave us a virtual tour of the city with bread from a different baker, fresh jam, pastries, and savory treats. The food was matched only by the breakfast conversation. Matthew and Melanie had a wealth of knowledge about the city...

When we stay at small boutique inns, they tend to be out in the country and breakfast is an egg dish, or waffles, and bacon, or whatever else can be found at the local Walmart or Costco. New Orleans is not out in the country. Ours is a vibrant city rich in food culture so we try to support our...

We cannot say enough good things about this wonderful B&B. Matthew and Melanie were such lovely hosts, giving us a real insight into New Orleans and a very personal level of service. They advised us on what we should do with the few days we had and everything they suggested was great. Located in the Treme neighbourhood the B&B is...

We certainly hope you won't stay anywhere else in New Orleans---you were very good company. The average length of a stay at our inn is between 4-5 nights. I always say that longer is better because there is so much happening in New Orleans that you'll never run out of things to see and do. We've lived here a fairly...

Matthew and Melanie made us feel welcome from the start. We were given a run down on New Orleans and the best ways to get around as soon as we arrived. Every morning at breakfast (local fare from local producers) we sat with our wonderful hosts and discussed what we had done, what we were interested in doing and they...

You've summed up what we try to deliver. We know people only have limited time to wile away in New Orleans (nobody ever says their stay is too long----it is always too short) and we know the French Quarter will suck you into it's gravitational pull. Everything you can read about New Orleans will describe the same touristy attractions. There...

Matthew and Melanie were great hosts. Nice hoice of breakfast items and good talk and advice about their city. Rooms were big and comfortable. Conveniently located for French Quarter. Glad we had a car to go wherever and whenever we chose to go. Would stay there again and reccommend it.

I just mentioned you two to Melanie this very morning! That was almost a month ago when we saw you last, but it was a memorable 5 nights you stayed with us in our Les Fleurs Suite. You had a very structured itinerary, thanks to your daughter, that allowed you to hit all the highlights in New Orleans. Even with...

This B&B had everything we were looking for! Close enough to easily take in the tourist sites...but far enough away to feel like a neighbor in a lovely town. Matthew and Melanie are superb innkeepers...knowledgeable, helpful, entertaining! The breakfasts were delicious...especially those crab cakes...yum! The rooms are extremely clean...with a quirky sense of decor with a lot of humor thrown...

Those were some nice conversations we had every morning. Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us. We have nothing against the more tourist-dependent parts of New Orleans but we much prefer the tranquility our part of the city has to offer. We live on a beautiful street and, even though it's peaceful, there are plenty of restaurants...

My wife and I wanted a unique experience in New Orleans and luckily found this charming bed and breakfast while searching online for boutique hotels. On Esplanade, a beautiful tree lined street of old homes similar to Savannah, it is only a little over a mile to the French quarter and the spacious City Park. This is great for walking...

Welcome to our part of New Orleans. Since you've been to the city before, you've gotten the more touristy aspects out of your system and this was an opportunity to sample a slice of what it is like to live here. It's nice, isn't it? We are a mile from the French Quarter, but we are closer to many more...

La Belle Esplanade was truly an exceptional little find. My husband & I were very happy to have stayed at this little gem. Your message arrived right on time. You are not late at all. New Orleans unfolds its surprises like a flower. We like to blame the lazy pace of a New Orleans day on the streetcars, which are as trundling slow and unpredictable and the flow of ketchup. Everything works out in the end. Anticipation makes the best sauce. Thanks for...

Matthew and Melanie create a super-friendly atmosphere in their cozy B&B. They are superlative hosts. Great conversations, great local guidance in a convenient location (15 minute walk, 5 minute bus ride or $6.00 Uber ride to the French Quarter). The brightly colored decor is pure NOLA. In a safe neighborhood, there are a couple clubs and restaurants nearby. We stayed...

We get classified with the more boutique operations in the city, and for good reason. Though we like to compare our humble operation to the Ritz (if the Ritz was run by two people) we don't run on snob appeal. Our inn is quirky, with a unique and welcoming personality all its own. Like being in New Orleans, itself, you...

Great stay. Helpful, well informed owners. The free laundry was a godsend. Bus out the front makes travel into the French Quarter a breeze. Excellent French restaurant within walking distance, together with a good supermarket. Thoroughly recommended.

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
