Good stay. Hotel shows its age a bit -- creaky bed, a little age to the place, but nothing bad. Clean. Quiet. Average service. Good value. Free parking. Free coffee, no breakfast, but some excellent breakfast restaurants around the corner. Guest Laundry. The balconies aren't really functional - room to stand and an HVAC unit in a concrete rectangle -- good for checking the weather each morning. The hotel is a short walk to a bunch of great restaurants on Ferret Street. You'll need a ride service or a car to reach the usual tourist locations. The hotel is surrounded by a hospital. We would stay here again.

Hotel's Favourite
My friends and myself stayed there for 6 nights in July and August. The rooms were spacious and clean and the showers had excellent water pressure. Also, the lobby did offer very good coffee. The staff was extremely helpful and one of them helped me find my misplaced wallet. They do not offer breakfast, but you can go to the Bear Cat Cafe a block away for delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alder Hotel and I would highly recommend it if you visit New Orleans.

After a week in French Quarter we had rented a car to drive thru the Delta for 3 weeks. Prior to flight home we stayed final 2 days at Alder Hotel Uptown. A great bargain with a huge clean well-appointed room (with a small balcony) featuring high quality timber furniture and a well-equipped kitchenette – so we shopped for breakfast items in nearby St – Rouses Markets – fresh fruit, cinnamon rolls, yoghurt. Bathroom was good with a shower that did not spill over the floor. Super comfy king bed with crisp as new sheets. Plenty of power and light. Desk, but no little table/chars for breakfast and no suitcase stands. Free secure parking opposite hotel Very comforting to see security guys always present. Pleasant desk and room staff.

This is going to be a lengthy but valuable review. We were celebrating our Anniversary and was facing uncertainties about our flight. We had multiple delays and finally a cancelled flight. During the roller coaster of flight changes I was disappointed and frustrated because I thought our plans were ruined, until I called the Alder Hotel and spoke with Malinda. Malinda was very patient with me and provided me with options that were available regarding our booking. I was very concerned because bookings were very slim to none in New Orleans for this timeframe. We were reassigned to late flight for the next day. Just before arriving at the airport we received a follow up call from Malinda checking on our travel status. That was a sigh of relief and she made us feel valued. I knew right then we were in great hands. We finally made our flight and accommodation was on point. Everyone was nice and the beds were comfortable. Thank you Malinda for the “World Class Customer Service” you provided. You are truly an “Angel”.

Such a friendly staff! I felt safe during my stay from the rooms to the parking lot. They had a security officer watching over the parking lot throughout the night hours. All in all it was money well spent!

Third visit to the Alder this year, we only wish we had found it sooner, while our son was at Tulane. Best kept secret in NOLA. Not only are the rooms spotless, large and have balconies - they have full kitchenettes. Supplies are plates, utensils and glasses with a coffee maker and microwave. And, for those not visiting in November when the temp was 40 overnight - a pool! Outside patio and inside work/gathering area. We have stayed downtown, in the Garden District and on St. Charles and the Alder stands a head above the pricey hotels. That said, it is not in walking distance to the standard attractions. Feret Street restaurants and a grocery store are nearby. If you're heading to the Quarter you're probably taking an Uber, so it matters little. Oh, and did I relay they have free parking? Totally Alder for the win!

This is a hidden jew of New Orleans especially if your child is a patient at the Children's hospital. We booked this place because of it being close to Children's hospital, our son was having a operation there. We were given a medical discount, the room was clean and very roomy, each room had a balcony. The only thing that I didn't care for was that the parking lot was across the street but you can unload and load bags right outside the front door too. Ice machine was located on the 5th floor, laundry is on the 9th floor. They have a pool, we didn't use it but it looked very clean. The evening our son was released from the hospital the hotel had a wheel chair that we borrowed to get our son to our room and the next morning we used it to him into our car to go home. The receptionist was very nice, I had a bag of stuff I was carrying while trying to push the wheelchair it spilled on the lobby floor and she got me a trash bag to reload my things. This hotel doesn't serve breakfast but they have a mini store like area where you can purchase snacks and food to eat in your room. Oh I wanted to mention that the biggest surprise at this hotel was the real dishes and silverware located in our room along with a microwave and mini fridge. Thank you so much for this! It was so nice to be able to eat in our room after being at the hospital for 12+ hrs worrying about our child, he rested in bed while we made a small meal. It rained that evening and we were able to open the curtains and sliding door to listen to the rain. Internet also worked good at this hotel. We also saw security several times in the parking lot. Thank you Alder for making our stay comfortable and we know exactly where to stay on our next visit to New Orleans.

If you are in town for vacation, definitely a good spot. The area around looks sketchy but the hotel itself has nice clean spacious rooms. We stayed for 6 days and they service the rooms every 3 days which was fine and understandable due to Covid. It’s in a quiet area and parking was free across the street. A cop car was always present for whatever reason so I felt my rental car was safe. Will definitely stay here again if I’m ever in New Orleans.

First of all, I found this hotel on a different site by happenstance. It ended up being THE BEST find ever! I travel quite often for work & pleasure, so I have become a hotel snob. Having a safe, clean, and conveniently located place to stay is a must! The Alder met and exceeded all of my expectations! It is in walking distance to quite a few local eateries that my daughter and I enjoyed during our stay. Also, we didn’t rent a car because the prices were ridiculous, so we opted to Lyft everywhere and saved TONS! Because this hotel is so close to Xavier, Tulane, and LSU, our Lyft trips were never more than $14 bucks! We even took a few trips to the French Quarter, Downtown, etc. The Alder is definitely a hidden gem, and it is very well maintained! Kudos to the owner and ALL of the staff who helped to make our stay very comfortable! Will definitely look to stay here again when I return!
