We had an enjoyable five night stay here in October. Karen the owner is friendly and very helpful, giving us a handy map (which we kept with us the whole time) and some great restaurant recommendations. The location couldn't be better - just outside the noise and bustle of the French Quarter, but among the locals in a real neighbourhood...

I'm surprised I haven't left a review before now! I've stayed with Karen twice before. Once, pre-Katrina for a weekend away with the boyfriend and then in February (Superbowl Sunday) for a solo trip. Both times have been amazing. I prefer the front room because that just feels the most private to me. The room is always clean, cozy and...

My daughter and I stayed at Dauphine House just last week. Karen, the innkeeper, is a wonderful host. She has a binder filled with information including restaurant recommendations. She gave us a personalized map to get around the area. We selected the local restaurants that were reasonably priced. And, we were not disappointed. We stayed in the back bedroom (with...

Staying at the Dauphine House was such a pleasant experience, I wanted everyone to know about it. Karen (the owner) goes waaaay out of her way to do things for you that you would not expect, and it's just such a pleasant surprise. And she never stops smiling! I've stayed at a lot of B&Bs, but this by far had...

She takes great pride in making sure that her guests are well taken care of. she made dinner reservations for us months in advance and took the time to tell us where everything was. with all the places to have breakfast around you only need the continental breakfast she provides. we...

Good news! The bed in the Ingenue room no longer creaks! When I read the above review, I went to that guest room and jumped on the bed. The creaking was horrible! I had no idea. So, I bought a new box spring foundation for the bed and all is well now. I truly appreciate this guest's review and recommendation.

From the moment we got there, Karen gave us the rundown on things to do...she gave us a whole itinerary of places to go, things to see, and places to eat!! Complete with easy to read map that came extremely handy! Place was gorgeous, just like the pictures. Location was right where Bourbon ends, very convenient and only blocks from...

We rented the two adjoining rooms, Chanteuse and Auteur, for our first trip to NOLA. Karen offered a warm welcome -- from the very first email she was extremely helpful. The B&B was clean and comfortable, but most of all, it was in a PERFECT location for exploring. Just steps from the French Quarter in the Marigny, a really wonderful...

Karen was my favorite host of all the B&Bs I've ever stayed at. Upon our arrival, she gave us the perfect overview of restaurants, nightlife, and sightseeing, which enabled us to take in the best of New Orleans in only a few days. I found myself still relying on the map and recommendations that she gave us a week later...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
