What a lovely experience! Other than the terrible weather, our stay here was wonderful. Jill made us feel right at home & gave us some wonderful information & insight on New Orleans. Breakfast was perfect & we couldn't have been happier with our short stay at The Chimes. Hope to be back again.

The three of us arrived a bit early and tired from our trip. We were immediately made welcome by the proprietor, Jill, and show to our rooms shortly thereafter. The rooms were clean, welcoming and cosey . Our breakfast the next morning was truly wonderful with great bread, coffee, fruit and other wonderful foods. Jill and her husband are great...

We agree with the comments by other TripAdvisor reviews and were delighted with our stay here. The bed was super comfy, the room quirky and lovely, breakfast good and our hostess wonderful. Our odd travel arrangements meant Jill had to be flexible in welcoming us and in ushering us on our way. Her knowledge about and enthusiasm for New Orleans...

This is a beautiful place to stay in uptown NOLA at the edge of the Garden District. Convenient to walk there to enjoy Magazine Street or take the streetcar on St Charles to the French Quarter. Jill attracts the friendliest and most interesting people we have ever encountered in a B and B. She is an excellent hostess and the...

Beautiful house, beautiful rooms. Jill is fantastic, and the common breakfasts were enjoyable. Wait -this has all been said before! It's all true! Why dio I have to add to this to reach the 200 character limit?

Lovely and inviting rooms and backyard. Great conversation with host and fellow travellers around a generous breakfast table. Close to both bus and tram service. This is all all your B&B dreams come true!

My home away from home when in New Orleans visiting my Tulane student. Jill is a wonderful host, breakfast is always delicious and the carriage house accommodation is a particularly fun and unique experience. Location in the garden district is quiet yet close to lots of great Magazine Street eating and shopping, midway between French quarter and universities. If you...

What a fantastic trip from start to finish! Room 2 was lovely; especially when a vacation for me and my sweetie means relaxing- the amazingly comfy bed (8 pillows!) and stone floored shower were perfect! Breakfast was beautiful and Jill and Charles made us feel right at home with great stories and insight! Walking distance to so many shops and...

My husband and I stayed in guestroom #1 and could not have asked for a more pleasant stay. The room was perfect and roomy for two people, with a sitting room/tv watching area that made it comfortable to just stay in and relax. I also enjoyed the nice little courtyard for enjoying the evening breeze. If you're looking for a...

Your review offered some good points about safety in our neighborhood which is a question we answer often. This neighborhood has twenty-four hour security vehicles constantly traveling the streets with an available phone number to contact them. Thank you for posting such a detailed review. It was a pleasure hosting you.

This was our third stay at The Chimes over a 10 yr period. It was just as wonderful as we remembered. Each room has a unique character (we had the room with the loft and beautiful wooden stair). But the real bonus is having breakfast around a huge table with fascinating guests and Jill leading the conversation. We were able...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
