Stayed at the Chimes on a mother/daughter getaway. Could not have chosen better. Jill is the perfect hostess, so willing to share her extensive knowledge of NOLA and accommodate our schedule. Breakfast was a treat in itself with the conversation around the table. We stayed in room 3 and loved having the private entrance, as well as an entrance onto...

Jill, Thank you so much again for making our inaugural (and definitely not last!) trip to New Orleans so special.   It was a pleasure to meet you as well as enjoy the hospitality of the Chimes.   You truly went above and beyond in every which way possible --  the delicious artisan French pastries, my diet accommodations, the exquisite décor, the...

For us, visiting NOLA without staying at the Chimes is like having a second line without a brass band. For this trip our family took over 4 of the 5 rooms. Half of the group had not been there before and all of us were charmed. We appreciate the comfortable rooms (our favorite is #2), the welcoming courtyard, the quick...

I agree wholeheartedly with other comments about Jill being a perfect hostess; she is accessible, knowledgeable, and generally fun to converse with without being the slightest bit intrusive. The room was small but very comfortable, charming, and clean. Breakfast was more of a continental style than of the large and complex offerings you find at some b&bs, but the pastries...

The most interesting people from around the country gather around Jill Abbyad's sumptuous breakfast table and the most fascinating conversations in New Orleans happen in her salon. Jill is the ultimate hostess, she makes everyone feel at home, and she truly is the Gertrude Stein of New Orleans. For meeting interesting people and wonderful conversation the Chimes is the place...

Well, really only the good Lord is perfect, but for us earth-bound travelers, the Chimes has to be pretty much as good as it gets. My husband and I recently stayed there for the fourth time; at the end of the summer, almost my entire family went to NOLA for my mom's 90th birthday, and we took over all of...

I recently enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Chimes and could not recommend this property highly enough. I found Jill to be a wonderful host and I was made to feel totally at home during my stay. As a regular visitor to New Orleans I only wish I had found this gem sooner.

My husband and I didn't want the French Quarter vibe for this New Orleans visit and were lucky enough to find Chimes. It's well-located for visitors depending on public transportation but has adequate parking for those with cars. It's exceptionally well-priced for all the charm, service, and comfort. Our cozy room (#3) had everything we could have needed including eating...

Chimes was so lovely, from the location on Constantinople, mere blocks from St. Charles & Magazine, to the well appointed room with high ceilings, crisp clean linens & french doors overlooking a true New Orleans courtyard. I cannot wait to return.

I took my grandparents here to celebrate my 30th birthday, and had a lovely stay. Everything was perfect, and we enjoyed the quiet location and close walking distance to shopping and tasty restaurants. The courtyard is delightful, and I will definitely choose this place again during my next visit. Thank you for a wonderful stay! (I was actually there May...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
