I was expecting so much more after all the great reviews I had read. At first we had room no 12 that only had a side table for one person. Very noisy from the guests above us. After 2 nights we were moved to 14. That was better noise wise. But in both rooms the bathrooms were far from luxurious....

We have stayed here 3 times during the French Quarter Music Festival. The expense was always justified by the ambience, the quiet and the friendliness of staff, at least until now. Now, the next door neighbors have installed a temporary stage and bar to play music to past midnight while we stayed there. Imagine, we're paying $600/night for the privelage...

I am very sorry that you were disturbed by very thoughtless part-time neighbors. Neither of the owners of the building next door even live in New Orleans. They seem to come to town once a year to give a party. The Soniat House has no advance notice of these functions. Over the years that they have owned the building there...

I arrived at Soniat House on the second of my four night “weekend” minimum stay and was taken to Room 11 just inside the front door, the former carriage entrance of the property, which meant I was sleeping in the horses’ quarters. Horses apparently don’t need soundproofing, shutters, or civility. I fell into bed at 1:00 am, only to be...

There is never an excuse serving cold coffee or disturbing a guest by serving a preordered breakfast 1/2 hour early. The cost of all breakfasts for the 4 of you have already been credited to your respective credit cards. Horses were never quartered at 1133 Chartres Street. In the 1830s the family carriage would enter the property through the carriageway...

I've stayed here multiple times over the years and while still good, and old South authentic, it has become a little tired and indifferent. We were offered room 24 at the beginning and were so tired we took it even though it is plain and has a bathroom straight out of Home Depot (check out the tub/shower insert) and when...

Please don't give up on us. In the past year we have totally redone a full third of our rooms and baths. Unfortunately 24 nor 33 have been done yet but come back in the Fall. 24 will have a new bathroom and 33 will be returned to its former glory will the toile wallpaper that everyone loved so much....

I've stayed here many times but today when some plans fells through for me, Soniat House staff (Irvin) made great efforts to make sure I had a place to come home to. I've stayed in many rooms here but Room 30 was a great surprise and luxurious treat. I've stayed in different rooms every time I come visit, and each...

We've stayed in great hotels all over the world and Soniat House is one of the best without doubt. Words that immediately come to mind: elegance, charm, beauty, warmth ... on and on. We stayed in a quiet second floor suite off the courtyard and a Magnolia tree was in full bloom right outside our window. The staff was so...

My husband and I chose to celebrate our 20th anniversary in New Orleans, and found the Soniat House through the Amex Departures app. We were not disappointed! The hotel is elegant yet unpretentious. It felt as if we had our very own townhouse in the French Quarter. Our junior suite (#62) was extremely comfortable and quiet. The staff are friendly and...

We spent four nights here recently in a courtyard king suite. What we liked about it was, amongst all the craziness in the French Quarter, this set of connected townhouses is a quiet oasis. The room was comfortable and decorated in antiques. The bathroom was small, but more than adequate with a very good shower. The staff was very accommodating....

I wish that you had asked about coffee. Complimentary coffee is always available, freshly brewed and delivered quickly to your room or served on the courtyard 24 hours a day. There have been a few comments on Trip Advisor about " no coffee pot in room " but that will never happen. We want our guests to feel as if...

Was beyond my expectations. Like stepping out of a busy city into a relaxing home away from home. Not your normal big city hotel.. staff friendly, efficient and accommodating. Courtyards were very calming. Rooms tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast served in room makes your day feel special. Loved the whole experience.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
