Overall, a very cute hotel that radiates New Orleans history and charm. I chose this hotel to be smack in the middle of the French Quarter, and the location does not disappoint. The hotel is very basic, mind you. No bar, restaurant, or anything beyond a room. I enjoyed 2 rooms in my 2 nights there. The 'upgraded' #5 was...

We had an amazing experience at the Cornstalk. Much of it had to do with the woman who worked there (and unfortunately I cannot recall her name, but she deserves so much credit). She really took care of us from check in on Saturday, April 1, 2017 and continually stopped to take the time to talk to us, make sure...

A fine old nineteenth century house, with some good rooms, some very small and in a great central location.Charming lady met us in the evening, very helpful. Four poster beds and decor like a bordello. In one room the basic shower burned and froze you without warning. No breakfast, so you have to search the streets for a decent breakfast....

My husband and I spent last weekend at this beautiful old hotel. For us the location was perfect, close to everything but just far enough to avoid most of the wildness of Bourbon street. The staff was amazing from start to finish. During the booking phase I had reached out in the form of email a couple of times, my...

We stayed on a Monday and Tuesday in the upstairs room adjacent to the common balcony facing Royal Street. We arrived mid-day on Monday and were able to check in and park the car basically in the front yard which could not be beat. The staff Sharon and Antoinette were very friendly and helpful, Antoinette was training but Sharon gave...

This was an awesome Place. It was very clean and quiet. Absolutely everyone who worked there was nice and helpful. It is in a great location. Close to everything. 1 block from Bourbon street but still quiet. Also close to Frenchman street and all the best of the quarter. I'd absolutely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone...

Had a great time in New Orleans, this hotel is super old and well maintain, I did not wanted to stay in a brand new looking hotel. This one had the perfect New Orleans vibe, right on Royal street. Would go back !!

Just one of a kind. We chose this hotel because of the history and historic atmosphere. Staff (Sharon) was wonderful and explained the room and history. If you're looking for old New Orleans feel in the heart of the quarter this is the place for you! It is expensixe but you get what you pay for and the uniqueness is...

Converted Mansion. Quirky like most of New Orleans. Stayed in the days leading up to Mardis Gras. Great location in the French Quarter. Safe. The lady running the desk (Sharon?) could not have been any nicer or more helpful. She is a gem.

Like many hotels on the French corner this is old and is evidently so I. Just few places. Otherwise it is terrific and in a great location. It best not to have a car here as keeping it here seems to be a little problem. You don't need a car here anyway. The staff is professional but does Not always...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

The Cornstalk Hotel has been newly renovated and refurbished featuring fourteen exquisite guest rooms. Brilliant crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and furnishings adorn the entrance hall, beautifully set off by high vaulted ceilings. The rosette scrolls, cherubs, medallions, stained-glass windows, fireplaces and canopy beds are all relics of a Louisiana plantation home. We are in the heart of the Vieux Carre' (French Quarter), with the sights, the sounds, the gourmet food and night life of old New Orleans. ... more   less
