This hotel was definitely the highlight of my New Orleans stay. The hotel was beautiful, a gem in the middle of town! The staff was very welcoming, friendly & helpful. They went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed & knew what I was looking for. The hotel had all the splendor of what I... More

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

If you're point of reference is Marriott Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn this is not the hotel for you. I stay at those places 40 nights a year for business and they are fine for that. However if you're coming to NOLA for the experience you should open yourself up to something unique, which this hotel definitely is. The experience... More

Location was perfect to best parts of the French Quarter. House is beautiful, and rooms are very large. Had a feeling of a bed and breakfast in the late 1800s - but with our own bathroom! :) Cornstalk gate is unique - with it's own story, but it opens into a courtyard with a small fountain - again a feeling... Beautiful place and so full of history. Very safe location. Friendly staff that even helped with our bags. Just wish the room could have been cooler, 79 degrees was not very comfortable. Minutes from Jackson Square. Highly recommend.

Came to NOLA for husband's birthday. Looked at pictures and reviews but when we got there reviews and pictures did not match. Location and staff were absolutely amazing, accommodations were not for price they were charging. It is old but nothing had been brought up to standards. We had a water heater in our small bathroom, the knobs did not... More

Think B&B without the breakfast. We had an excellent first-time stay at the Cornstalk. The hotel and room were generally what we expected based on other reviews. The rooms are small with high ceilings and the bathrooms are super small with low ceilings. Antique furniture and wall coverings take you back in time. We stayed in Room 1 on the... More

Very nice boutique hotel. Room was very large and ornate. I have always wanted to stay at this hotel from my previous visits to New Orleans. Very convenient to everything. I felt like I was a guest in a mansion!

Other hotels in the French Quarter offer much better rooms and amenities for the same money. The price is out of line with what they have to offer. The room is so small that there was only one chair and no room to move around the bed. For a trip longer than 1-2 days there is not enough room to... More

First and foremost, allow us to sincerely apologize for your less than satisfactory experience at our hotel. We have shared your feedback and suggestions of improvements to our hotel management for consideration. We truly hope you may reconsider us in the future with one of our larger rooms during your next stay in New Orleans. More

Walked by it for 20 years. Wife and I thought we would indulge ourselves at the Cornstalk. Very bad decision. One chair in the room; not comfortable. One lamp in the room. Bathroom tiny (6x6) with a cheap shower (no bath) whose head didn't work properly. Shower experience included alternating scalding then freezing water. Smallest TV ever; positioned at bed... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cornstalk Hotel has been newly renovated and refurbished featuring fourteen exquisite guest rooms. Brilliant crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and furnishings adorn the entrance hall, beautifully set off by high vaulted ceilings. The rosette scrolls, cherubs, medallions, stained-glass windows, fireplaces and canopy beds are all relics of a Louisiana plantation home. We are in the heart of the Vieux Carre' (French Quarter), with the sights, the sounds, the gourmet food and night life of old New Orleans. ... more   less
