It was a great stay at the St. Andrews hotel, Nuwara Eliya. You are welcomed into a large 150 year old mansion beautifully adorning the old charm and yet so relevant to today's era. One walks into vaguely Colonial style rooms with Chintz upholstery and coloured marbled tiles reminiscing oneself of the yester years. Rooms are well equipped with all the modern amenities.
Jetwing hotels has taken SUSTAINABILITY to another level which is the need of the hour. No air conditioning and refrigerators in this Nuwara property avoiding global warming (although we were very conformable in the rooms with the cool weather). The packaging for tissue paper rolls, vanity kits etc. has all been done in reusable cloth bags to mention a few points.
Ms. Gowry, Mr. Clive & the GM Mr. Dilip Kumar along with the others were personally taking care of the property. Even late at night they all were personally around which is commendable. The entire team is extremely hospitable. Mr. Ananda ( retsaurant manager ) went beyond the usual and made sure our meal was as per our expectations. There were no grilled prawns in the menu and still he arranged it especially for my husband. Highly recommend this property to all. If you particularly are a history buff ,you will love this upscale boutique hotel even more.

We stayed at this hotel only one night, but it was a wonderful experience. It seemed to be really in an English town. As soon as we arrived, instead of the usual tea that other hotels in Sri Lanka had offered us on arrival, they brought us a vegetable soup. The hotel premises (bar, lounges, billiard room, dining rooms) are very characteristic and English style. The rooms as well, we were amazed at the mezzanine in them, above which were placed two other beds. In the room there is also the possibility of making tea, but there are no filters, you have to do it with the appropriate instrument. The products given available in the bathroom are really great and there are also umbrellas available in the rooms, in case of rain (very predictable!). The food is great, it is perhaps the hotel where we dined better than the others tried during the tour in Sri Lanka. Just choice of dishes, even typical and local. In particular, the night we were guests at the hotel there were lasagna and as Italians we can tell you that they were much better than some that are eaten in Italy. The only flaws: soundproofing of the rooms and cold in the rooms. The walls of the rooms are not thick and you can hear the conversations of the neighbors (luckily at 11 pm they stopped and then you managed to sleep). Being at 2000mt it is cool and, having caught rain on our arrival, inside it was rather cold. We asked for stoves for the rooms and they brought them right away. They heated the room very well overnight. If you decide to stay here, we recommend a walk in the village which is a stone's throw away and you will also meet a Catholic church.

Just one night here on our Sri Lanka tour but I wish we could have extended for a few nights more. The Jetwing St.Andrew’s was a favourite on our tour around Sri Lanka.
A very warm welcome upon arrival and all the staff that we encountered were so friendly, caring and welcoming.
Our light lunch in the lounger, overlooking the gardens, whilst watching through the window, the squirrels playing on the terrace – was delightful. Fresh made sandwiches, fries and a large pot of tea – delicious and so reasonably priced.
Hotel a short walk into town to allow for exploring and a wander around.
Rooms large and decorated with some Ceylon style with influence of the older times.
Bathrooms (as other have said) might need some updating. Walls a little thin in bedrooms. Important however to remember the age of the building. The hotel is steeped in history and has grandeur. Do take some time to wander around and read he information on the hotel’s history.
Dinner enjoyable. Post dinner some time in the bar with amazing cocktails made. We topped the evening off with wine and drinks in front of the roaring wood fire in the lounge area. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint.
We really enjoyed our short stay at the Jetwing St.Andrews. The charm, an elegance, a certain feeling of nostalgia to the old Ceylon. The staff and service received however made our stay so very enjoyable.

Our stay at Jetwings @ St Andrews was nothing short of extraordinary, and I cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment we arrived, the level of service was impeccable. Check-in was smooth and quick, and we were welcomed with a hot face towel—such a thoughtful touch! A staff member personally escorted us to our room, where she explained everything about the amenities. Located on a picturesque mountain surrounded by tea plantations, the hotel has a serene and refreshing atmosphere. Although the room didn’t have a fan or mini fridge initially, the team quickly exceeded our expectations. A staff member came by for turn-down service and, upon request, arranged for both a standing fan and a mini fridge. By the time we returned from dinner, both had been delivered to our room! Such attention to detail and a genuine willingness to meet our needs made our stay truly remarkable. Speaking of dinner, we had a fantastic five-course meal at Asion Restaurant. Every dish was beautifully plated and tasted delicious. Our server, Mr. Nisal, provided flawless service—he remembered our orders perfectly, and everything was served without a single mistake. We felt so well taken care of, and the ambiance of the restaurant made the evening special. Special thanks to Ms. Gowry, who checked in on us during dinner to ensure we were enjoying everything. What really touched us was how the staff went above and beyond the next morning. My husband wasn’t feeling well and had to skip breakfast. When the staff at Asion Restaurant learned of this, they packed him a sandwich bag with a packet of chocolate milk to go! It was such a thoughtful gesture and truly reflective of the care and attention the hotel gives to its guests. Jetwings @ St Andrews is not just a place to stay—it’s an experience filled with warmth, care, and personalized service. We had such a memorable time, and we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax in a beautiful setting with exceptional hospitality

Pros: 1) Lovely ambience in heritage property 2) Great location in the middle of town, yet away from the town noise 3) Staff are all great…they took good care of us at mealtimes 4) Room was large and we liked the separate attic, which has 2 additional beds, which can work well for a family with children 5) Loved the Tea Lounge and The Bar. 6) WiFi works great, while phone coverage was iffy
Cons: 1) Age is really showing, and the rooms need a refurbishment…especially the bathrooms look like they belong in 1980 2) Walls are a bit thin and the neighboring room noise can be heard 3) Probably was the most expensive food wise out of all the JW properties we stayed in this trip 4) Room service menu is a bit limited.
Overall, the hotel is fine and I would stay here again…but the Heritance Tea Factory or Grand Hotel may be better options at this price point.

Last weekend Me & My staff stayed one night @ Jetwing st. Andrews N’Eliya. We are a group of 50. simply can say everything perfect and excellent during our stay @ st. Andrews. Even though it is very close to Nuwara Eliya city center, location is very calm & quiet and free from urban disturbances. From the moment we entered to the premises through main entrance upto the reception lobby of the hotel, landscaping is truly amazing and full with lush greenery. We were warmly welcome by the reception. Our experience inside the hotel also highly delightful similar to the first impression at the entrance and check in. Rooms are nicely arranged and housekeepings are perfect. The natural fire place with comfortable sofa is one of the most attractive place in the cool climate of N’Eliya. The Asian restuarent face to open court yard is very relaxing and nice arrangement. We had full board meal plan and all buffet spreads are perfect and delicious. As we are a big group, on our pre request, the hotel had well organized customized pre arrangement of an evening gathering for us. Special thanks goes to captain Umesh who gave us a wonderful service and coordination on this regard. Umesh and all staff were very receptive and friendly to us. Overall nothing to comment on negative and we are so impress and delighted.Hoping to stay there with my family too in near future.that is the best guarantee I can give on my recommendations about St. Andrews by Jetwing.

Family of 3 adults and 2 children staying 24th Dec 2022. We normally really enjoy staying at Jetwing hotels inc Beach, Lagoon and even at St Andrews on our previous visit. As before St Andrews is a wonderful character building. The service in the bar area was first class on this visit. As was the Xmas meal. Check-in was our first meh experience though. We are touring and some of us are on residency visas and not tourists. Unlike other hotel stays this trip where a copy of the visa is requested and it's done, this time an unprompted point was made by staff about us having the local rate discount which I had booked online and an almost disbelief by staff it was valid for westerners. It made us feel uncomfortable. We were placed on the ground floor opposite the small courtyard. Within 5 meters of the dining area. Being Xmas I expected it to be festive as in louder around the hotel. During dinner there was live singing. We left the dining area at 2200 where there were only 2 to 3 tables left. At 2230 the music from the area was increased by 100% which was really loud in our rooms. I assumed it was a disco, karaoke and wished I had been placed in a room further away but being Xmas I was obviously sympathetic. At 0100 the noise was louder still and the quality of the singing had decreased. Wanting to sleep a member of our party went out to enquire how much longer it would last. It was then established that after 2230 no hotel guests were involved but instead it was the staff having a private party. I find this deeply inconsiderate and rude to fee paying guests and their families they had no regard to the noise levels. Instead of waking up Xmas day feeling festive and well rested we felt tired and annoyed.

The hotel’s location was superb, offering breezy weather and fresh air. The dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with a lot of variety, providing value for money. However, the room, including the bathroom, felt quite old and could benefit from some maintenance to enhance its appeal. Despite this, the overall experience was enjoyable.

What an amazing step back in time. This hotel has maintained its heritage, and you'll feel spoilt from the moment you turn up. In November this was a bit cooler than Kandy as its higher in the hills. The bar had a roaring open fire so it was like a country retreat in UK. Dinner and breakfast were busy and the food was good. The rooms are very original with a a large bathroom. Unfortunately there was no fridge, an no need for aircon. Loved that everyone had different uniforms, and the staff in the bar had English flat caps. The area is called little England and there is definitely a colonial feel to this hotel and the area. The following day we continued with our tour and went to a tea factory. It left us with a feeling of luxury and feeling very lucky to have this opportunity to travel Sri Lanka

It will be quite hot. Always bring mosquito repellent. Off spray is excellent. You don’t need warm clothes. If u go to Nuwara Eliya you may need a cardigan or light jacket.

We were on full board basis and most of the meals were in buffet style. They had a real good selection and there were enough food for a vegetarian. But not sure on the individual restaurant price. This place is very famous for its food selection.
There are more places to choose from in the Nuwara Eliya area.
