The hotel was as expected, quaint, old fashioned and located in beautiful grounds. The night we dined in the formal dining room in Maitre d Benedict's capable hands was memorable! From lighting a great big roaring fire for pre-dinner drinks to excellent service at dinner to after dinner chocolates in the 'drawing room' we were entertained and well served! The...

The exterior of this hotel promised something really special. It is really beautiful. The hotel looks beautiful on the outside but is pretty run down inside. Maybe a simple vacuum cleaner could do a miracle or a new carpet. Yes.... A very historical place but it needs to be maintained. The room was ok. New beds etc. We had a...

We both love this place. Love the serene and quiet of the place. Only bring a jacket and tie for the men for evening dinning. Polite staff, lovely gardens and close to town. We also drive to Tea factory, Haggala gardens or park in town . Not too far from Horton Plains or World's End.

Although I rate this hotel highly, I also felt sorry for it because, for example, the lounge to the right of reception had a leaky ceiling and a bucket to catch drips. This sort of problem in a public area should be dealt with quick smart, or the area closed. The hotel cries out to have attention and money spent...

Dear guests, Thank you for your constructive comment. The leak in the reading room is owing to a pipe line leak from a room above and I agree should be dealt with immediately. The room was occupied and then and it has been attended to now. Warm Regards Somerset.

Old colonial building with all the modern comforts other than a passenger lift. The dress code consisting of tie and jacket at dinner time adds class to your stay. The staff led by Manager , Nirmo Thmbapillai,do there utmost to give you what you "ask'. The restaurant food is custom made and hence takes a bit of time so it is...

Dear Guests, Thank you for your constructive comments and suggestions. We are looking for a appropriate area in the old building to incorporate a elevator and hopefully should succeed. Warm Regards Somerset.

We stopped here for lunch on our way through the area. While the food was nothing much, the place itself was fascinating, a real colonial relic. There are monogrammed plates, and proper waiter service, pictures of the Queen - and the cutlery that was made especially for her 1954 visit is in a display case. We enjoyed having a look...

In the cool highlands of Sri Lanka, amid the tea terraces we found an old tea planters club beside the golf course in a town nicknamed “Little England”.. It is now a splendid, if rustic, hotel, the walls still covered in photos of the Queen, and Churchill, and plaques of previous members going back a century. The dress code for...

We stayed 2 nights at Hill club. It reminds of colonial era which a plus point for it. The staffs were friendly & polite. The room was big with sofa, TV & heater. Interior of the hotel & rooms are great with fire place in reading room. We went for world's end walk in early morning so thet packed us...

I am still not quite sure if the style and product positioning of this accommodation deliberate or they cannot be bothered to change it and they really do run this "colonial:" club like this. THIS IS A COLONIAL CLUB AND THEY RUN IT AS SUCH. So I quite enjoyed the experience as this is what I was expecting and it...

Thank You for your comment. Yes, we have a problem owing to the ancient building with very thick stone walls the service providers are finding it difficult to penetrate the walls. We are working at it and hopefully in the near future rectify same. Somerset.

The lukewarm welcome by a semi-interested receptionist didn't bode well for our stay at the Hill Club. We were informed that we could have dinner but formal dress with jacket and tie was required or we could have dinner in the informal restaurant, which 'only' required a jacket. When doing a tour around a country I don't tend to carry...
