While staying in Nuwara Eliya my wife and I took the opportunity to have a dinner at the Hill Club, only stipulation was to become temporary members for the day (100Rs each) and as a gentleman wear a tie to enter the formal dining room. Ties are provided for guests arriving without. The dining area and cocktail lounge takes a...

A truly wonderful experience & our maitre d'hôtel Benedic has a great eye for service and detail. In fact, all the staff made us feel welcome and at home. The a la carte menu was good with a fair selection of wines. Well worth the effort to visit a last bastion of Empire.

The estate is well managed and the staff is polite and courteous. Much tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle if you drive up the mountain from Kandy. The rooms are spacious and toilet clean. The reading room is a really nice touch but we also enjoyed other facilities like the dart games, billard room and games room. I must say...

Still a very impressive building set among beautiful gardens. The dining room with its gloved waiters and well appointed tables still harkens back to a more genteel elegant time. However the rest of the hotel/club is faded and not very well maintained. Service and and maintenance is NOT spot on and needs definite improvement. A pity really because the property...

The hotel was as expected, quaint, old fashioned and located in beautiful grounds. The night we dined in the formal dining room in Maitre d Benedict's capable hands was memorable! From lighting a great big roaring fire for pre-dinner drinks to excellent service at dinner to after dinner chocolates in the 'drawing room' we were entertained and well served! The...

The exterior of this hotel promised something really special. It is really beautiful. The hotel looks beautiful on the outside but is pretty run down inside. Maybe a simple vacuum cleaner could do a miracle or a new carpet. Yes.... A very historical place but it needs to be maintained. The room was ok. New beds etc. We had a...

We both love this place. Love the serene and quiet of the place. Only bring a jacket and tie for the men for evening dinning. Polite staff, lovely gardens and close to town. We also drive to Tea factory, Haggala gardens or park in town . Not too far from Horton Plains or World's End.

Although I rate this hotel highly, I also felt sorry for it because, for example, the lounge to the right of reception had a leaky ceiling and a bucket to catch drips. This sort of problem in a public area should be dealt with quick smart, or the area closed. The hotel cries out to have attention and money spent...

Dear guests, Thank you for your constructive comment. The leak in the reading room is owing to a pipe line leak from a room above and I agree should be dealt with immediately. The room was occupied and then and it has been attended to now. Warm Regards Somerset.

Old colonial building with all the modern comforts other than a passenger lift. The dress code consisting of tie and jacket at dinner time adds class to your stay. The staff led by Manager , Nirmo Thmbapillai,do there utmost to give you what you "ask'. The restaurant food is custom made and hence takes a bit of time so it is...

Dear Guests, Thank you for your constructive comments and suggestions. We are looking for a appropriate area in the old building to incorporate a elevator and hopefully should succeed. Warm Regards Somerset.
