If you are going to stay here make sure you book a suite and not a standard room. Our standard room was very large but we had nowhere to put our clothes - no wardrobe or chest of drawers. The carpet was stained and everything felt very tired. There were no tea/coffee making facilities and no view from room. However,...

Checked in and checked right back out again. Interesting building and nice grounds, disgusting filthy room - black mold in bathroom, horribly stained carpet (truly ghastly), mold on walls, dirty drapes. Managers excuse was that "people drop things". Do not stay here, rooms in serious need of attention - very unhealthy. Review may sound like sour grapes but this is...

This hotel is rather old and pretends to give you an impression of grandeur gone by. The room is large, though not well equipped (no coffee/tea making facilities) and it needs some good TLC (especially the doors need repainting). There is not much to do here, in fact we just stopped over during our tour of Sri Lanka. Staff is...

Old charm bungalow but sub standard service. No tea making facility in room. Rooms are not sound proofed, you can hear the restaurant and staff walking up and down every time. And the manger on duty had the worse attitude. Overall an unpleasant stay. Booked for 2 days but had enough after 1 day. We checked out one day early....

We had a wonderful stay here, nice, clean and peaceful place. The Staff were very helpful and nice. One of the best places to stay in Nuwara Eliya. Wifi was good. Have a small dining area and the food was very tasty too.. That being said ... some of the issues we faced (not all are hotel's problem) We had...

Stayed two nights at The Firs. Lovely location and easy tuk tuk ride or walk into Main Street. Warm welcome and delicious tea served on arrival. Nicely presented rooms but no coffee/tea making facilities or bar fridge. Very attentive staff but was almost too much at times. Disappointed with hotel staff who had informed us nearby tea plantations were closed...

Comfortable quaint English like hotel providing food and furniture of the period. With a maximum of only 5 rooms the staff to guest ratio was high Temperature was generally cooler at that height. Pretty secludef and had a magnificent view The room had heating although not strictly necessary. The bathroom could do with heating to keep the damp out An...

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst on our tour of Sri Lanka. The Firs is a truly amazing property, an old colonial bungalow, with a lot of history, having previously been the home of the first PM of Sri Lanka. The Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms (there are only 5) are fantastic, ours was a...

Its a nice small hotel with very classical colonial settings. Since its colonial, do not expect modern and brand new looking furnishings. We took the suit room which was spacious for us as a couple. Staffs are warm and friendly. However I found their menu does not have too much of a choice, not too bad if you are here...

Steeped in recent history – it’s a holiday home of a former PM – this is a chintzy and charming place that nevertheless won't any time soon be competing with the best that Sri Lanka has to offer. We enjoyed two nights here but were surprised that our room wasn’t touched in that time (everywhere else on the island made...
