We were delighted with this gorgeous dark wood colonial building on first sight. A grand building of old with the potential to be a great hotel, which it currently isnt. To echo other comments. It is very cold here. We had a terrible sleep the first night tho better the second night after requesting extra blankets. The room itself was...

Old colonial hotel with great character however large ceilinged rooms and cool climate make for a chilly stay. Had to "pester" management for towels. Excellent lounge area where we were able to try out our Carrom skills (Sri Lankan billiard type game with draughts) whilst eating good snacks and drinking arrack. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Basic breakfast included. We...

The hotel is a joke. Upon arrival we were shown our room - it was clear that there was a huge damp problem with the walls saturated and a musty aroma in the air. When we asked whether another room was available we were told all other rooms were taken, this despite numerous keys being left in the door at...

It was the worst Hotel i ever stayed, To call it a hotel is a shame. The Manager was drunk, Found cockroaches and bed bugs in the room and bedding, Left the hotel midnight,Family was very disturbed but nearby Alpine hotel staff very gently accomodated and gave a Duplex room at very reasonable charge! Will only say never go to...

Cold, miserable room, no bed site lamps, poor shower. Why the hotel is charging guests to keep the room warm? The restaurant was also cold, the Sri Lankan dinner was reasnable but very basic breakfast. In colonial times the hotel was special but now is damp that needs plenty of improvement.

It's not a five for or three stat hotel but it's a fun classic old place to stay. Apparently it's an old English mansion. I think it's good value for money . We had a fire place in our large room . ( wood costs an extra 600 rupee though and lasts about an hour) didn't need the fire for...

I agree with many of the previous reviews about this place, that is the management can let it down and also the decor is dated. The only accept CASH for payment and they also struggled to give me change when I payed in LKR, very suprising and dissappointing. Room was large and very clean. Bathroom was nice. This is a...

Nuwara Eliya, is called the Little England, a hill country retreat where the British colonialists could immerse in their pastimes such as fox hunting, deer hunting, elephant hunting, polo, golf and cricket. Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, also known as Mt. Pedro, the tallest mountain in...

We stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel for one night on our way to Elle. It was selected by our driver as a budget guesthouse. Not sure of the cost because it was included in the package. The furniture was beautiful. We had read the reviews of the hotel which didn't give us much hope. You could get a heater and...

Conveniently located off the main street, but manager and staff are utterly unprofessional. One can find manager smoking in the lobby with straight face as if he just does not care. They don't accept any cards, neither they inform guests about it before check in. Basically, avoid it!
