As we alighted our vehicle after a long and winding days travel from Kandy, we were too exhausted to read the obvious sign from the gods of a small dead snake at the bottom of the stairs to this rather impressive structure. Little did we know that behind this buildings historic and charming colonial facade lay the weary ghosts of...

Very promising place at the first glance - apparently a former old colonial house, located in a nice place.... but managed quite poorly. Dirty linen, cold rooms in the night and very poor sound-proof between the rooms. Did not find any other guests during the high period, had a breakfast alone - probably, an obvious evidence. The only positive aspect...

Dirty bed linen, dirty towels, no plug for the sink. Being over 6,000 ft up it is naturally cold at night. We were promised a fire. All we got were ashes in the grate. We were so cold throughout the night. Waited forty minutes for soup in our evening meal which was inedible when it arrived. I spoke to the manager...

We were forced to stay here as part of a package we were scammed into at Colombo Fort Railway station (please see my other post about this). On arrival at 3pm, bearing in mind we booked the tour days ago so they knew we were coming and when, we were told to sit in the lounge as the room wasn't...

The rooms were beautiful and old from a time long ago. The hotel felt empty but had the charm. We enjoyed heading to town for good food and walking around. This is a one night stay hotel. You get a nice rest but the rooms are so big you never feel settled in. Our rooms were clean and the staff...

So yes this is old colonial style with very large rooms and a dresser etc. and not as bad as some reviews say, at least in my experience. However, they could buy new blankets... sheets were clean and neat...an average hotel.no AC..Regarding Wi-Fi I have come to the conclusion that except in big cities like Colombo or Kandy, no matter...

A colonial style hotel with average services. Great location close to the lake and city centre. No air conditioning. Breakfast ordinary, staff friendly and helpful. Over priced during holiday season. Limited parking places.

First off all our room came with 3 single beds, not what we were advised we would get with our tour. The toilet leaked all over the floor, the room was freezing and internet basically non existent. They made breakfast for us the following morning for our Horton plains excursion, but the food was terrible obviously made the night before...

It has a great feel of living in a colonial style 150 year old building, but needs a lot of maintenance and improvements in service, lighting and food. The doors and windows don't shut completely so you get very cold at night, and the Restaurant is repulsive, the staff seem to just hang around and talk loudly in the middle...
