The Jero family is very nice, which is probably the cause of all the biased reviews praising this place. If you're travelling with a sleeping bag and on a tight budget, this backpacker lodge may be acceptable. In any other case - keep looking! The rooms are less than basic. The blanket in our room was made of wool and...

The area is full of overpriced hotels that will offer you awful rooms at not reasonable prices, in the middle of the touristic flow. If you are a budget traveller who wants to experience a stay in the mountains, this place is perfect. The negative aspect is that we've been there during the wet season, so it rained a lot...

This homestay in the mountains of Bali is an amazing place to spend some time. The views of the twin lakes, the mountains and the vegetation is astounding. My daughter and I stayed there for a couple of days and we were mesmerized by the beauty. We walked to the Banyumala Twin Waterfalls. The walk itself was breathtaking never mind...

We stayed there for one night, but it was special. In the evening we've met the whole host-family and they prepared some small welcome party with singing and dancing. If you like hiking it is you "must be"! They also recommended us the best place in the world. If you are nearby you definitely must go there! The waterfalls are...

This place may not be up your street if you want something spick and span (totally clean) but this homestay was exactly what I needed when I was burnt out by traveling. This place literally is just completely family run and the dynamics, the simplicity and the atmosphere they give off (especially in the evenings) as they really welcome you...

We enjoyed our stay in Bukit Kembar. Basically it's a one simple clean room with 1 bathroom. Not too fancy, yet still acceptable for the given price. When you entered the room, you can smell mould or damp, but we suppose it's quite common for mountain / cold - damp area. And keep in mind that these rooms are more...

Rooms are perfects for the price. Host family are lovely and very helpful. I shredded the tyres on my hire vehicle and they were more than happy to help me with the hire company. Also they have the cutest puppy in the world :)

If you are on a budget and doing Bali 'On the cheap' this is a good location and accommodation for the local area trails, waterfalls, market and botanical gardens within the interior of the island. They have a restaurant on site, with good food and entertainment almost nightly. Music and performances are all included in the price. The food was...

The family is very very friendly, the kids and cittens are very cute and we enjoyed the traditional live music and dance which were a lot of fun. Its directly located on the ridge overlooking two lakes and on the other side viewing down to the coast, waterfall and temple are not far as well. The restaurant offers nice Balinese...

Located directly on the ridge overlooking two lakes and on the other side viewing down to the coast this homestay has an amazing view. Also very very friendly staff ( not staff, more family) which make you feel like home and help you out with everything a backpacker could think of. Also nice place for starting hikes to waterfalls and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located up in the mountains of Bali near Bedugul. Our village is surrounded by lush jungles overlooking two volcanic lakes. It is the perfect place for people who love hiking and want to explore the rural parts of Bali. There are some of the most amazing places in walking distance from Bukit Kembar, sights rarely visited by any tourists. This is the pristine Bali far away from the crowded beaches of the south. Climb one of the surrounding mountains and watch the clouds spill over the edge of the ancient crater. Hike through the mystical fig tree forests and search for the hidden temples. Go on a canoe trip on the lake and catch a fish for dinner. Take a bath in one of the secluded waterfalls and jump off a cliff into the canyon. Pray in the cave temple of Tirta Kuning. Climb the 30m high spirit tree or just take in its beauty by meditating on its roots. Follow a river from its spring through the forest and along the subak irrigation channels down to the rice fields. Our goal is to protect the jungles by promoting the area as an ecotourism destination. Currently people are earning a few dollars by cutting the beautiful trees and carrying them out of the forest. We want to show them that the forest as a whole has much more value than a few trunks. We are aware that many people get annoyed with Balinese people wanting to sell them something. That's why we hand out free hiking maps to our guest so you can explore the region by yourself. However, if you wish to get a guided tour, rent a car for a day trip or be picked you up somewhere, we are happy to organize it for you. At Bukit Kembar you can get a room from as low as 9$ a night. We also rent out camping equipment so you can spend a night in the forest or on top of a mountain. There is nothing like waking up to the voices of the jungle and taking a morning bath in a waterfall. The people of the mountains in Bali prepare some unique dishes with vegetables only growing in the mountains. We both serve local and internal dishes. Our goal is to give you an insight into our fascinating culture, be it food, music or dance. We have beautiful house just behind the hotel, our guests are welcome to be part of our family and join us for an evening with stories around the fireplace. We will do our best to make your time in the mountains an unforgettable experience. ... more   less
